The device(s) you described would all be extremely useful in extracting the
necessary material to do some sort of Genetic Engineering. To what ends it
is
put to use I cannot know without seeing the tools they use perform the
gengineering. I would hazard a quess that it is either gene therapy or
selective breeding. The first seems more likely when taken in context with
what
they said, but the second is much more feasible.
Whatever they are doing is more advanced than what we have here at the lab.
While we lead in cybernetics without question, the small about of bio-tech
that we have is only used as a means to make cybernetics possible. Their
selective breeding is easily 2-3 years ahead of us and the gene therapy is
almost unknown to our experts, in the applied technology sense.
