October 25, 2045.
Dear Anastasius Foch,
I appologize for the abrupt ending to the last letter, but business called. I will resume right where I left off.
Sharkman grabbed the leg of Boss and wrenched it one hundred and eighty degrees. This sent both Executed and Boss tumblind down the stairs, no doubt helped along by their semi-intoxicated state. Kid Stealth stepped out from around the corner and pushed over the drunk while he stunned the Boss. Spydr informed them at that point that two gillettes from the bar were headed down from in back with rifles. Kid and Shark traded a few hand gestures, which sent Kid further up the alley to intercept, while Shark bludgeoned Boss. He then dragged away Executed to hook up with Bear who was inbound with the Rolls. Spydr reported no more movement out back, while Kid waited in Ambush. The two razors were no special thing, both armed with newer model Kalashnikov's they still presented no appreciable threat to the Murder Machine. He opened fire as they rounded the corner. The first two bullets ended their lives by removing vital inches from their brain stems. To followup, the extra twelve bullets were fired so it did not look like such a professional job. With the immeadiate threat removed, Kid Stealth and Spydr exfiltrated in opposite direction and were met by Bear, the Rolls, and Shark at different blocks.
During the ride back to the Compound, Shark keeps a loaded weapon pointed at Nicholi, while Spydr talks to him, to try to cool his nerves. Kid Stealth is up front with Bear behind the wheel. Bear begin to comment on Spydr's looks when Kid comments, "She's Meat. Pretty Meat, but still Meat." Bear shuts up.
A few minutes later, Kid notices a pretty good tail behind them. Bear summarily looses it to the best of his knowledge, but they are on edge. Right then, the phone rings and via a program by Mo, Shark and Spydr are informed that he has been injured and taken by TTI out of the Compound.
At Sharkman's insistance Bear floors it and squeals around corners to get to the Compound ASAP. Arriving shortly thereafter, they see the TTI Wagon out front and Solo's bust in. They execute the rescue of Mo and then drive off as the Rolls rolls up. Spydr heads off after Mo to make sure he is ok after he seemingly botched something. Shark and Kid search the house, but leave behind Mo's deck, his discs, and other data. They do turn power back on, restart the generator, and reactivate the security system.
In Mo's room, there is the foul smell of feces and burned hair. He then called all my numbers and left this message, "Situation Critical. Compound Security Completely Breached. Mo is in a high state of physical durress. TTI called." How quaint.
Outside they begin looking around for witnesses and wander upon a bum, whom they ask questions pertaining to the previous events. The bum is kind enough to inform them that the LowTechs cased the house and power went out before TTI arrived. They do not get any more out of him so they go back inside. Spydr returns with little information on Mo other than he suffered an accident related to his Envoronmental Interface. As it is approaching five anti-meridian, everyone goes to sleep, including Nicholi in one of the guest rooms, after he and Spydr have a nice long talk.
In the morning, Shark found the disc containing all of Zona's information returned to him on his desk. He had asked me to make copies of it for safe keeping, which I did, then returned it in pristine condition. No, really. I did.
Everyone wakes up at various time after ten hundred hours and go about a new day's tasks. Spydr goes to the Web for work. Kid Stealth hits the street to get information from his people. Shark goes on a mision of material recquisition. Zona heads into The Zone to the hospital where Mo is being kept to get information on his status.
Ariel, following the big meeting had returned to the archology and gone to bed. In the morning she found that she had been transfered under Micheal Jiovonazo. He would be her new controller.
At 1500 just about everyone is at The Web. Shark is there to meet with Spydr and they talk at some length. Shark also calls 'The Fox' and they set up a lunch date, the next day. Then Zona shows up to inform them that Mo's 'accident' created scar tissue on the brain that will put him in a permenant condition. He will be unable to use a computer interface jack forever. They both then bid Spydr adeiu and make like a baby, as Shark would put it.
In the meantime, Jio and Kenna arrive for a short bite of dinner, as Spydr had invited one or both the previous evening. Kazure also arrives, under a new disguise, and begins snooping.
It is here that things get interesting. While randomly reading people's minds, Ariel discovers that she is unable to read Kazure's. Since he does not look like himself, she becomes agitated and send a bodyguard to intercept. Kazure I should note, looks like a seventeen year old blond girl, with pony tail and all, that is in the prime of womanhood. When this bodyguard starts to push her arround, Spydr's bouncers intervene. Unfortunately for them, they have weak minds and Kenna turns them to her will. They begin to beat down the young blond girl until Spydr herself get in the middle of it. The blond then promptly vamooses, only to be chases by another GenTech suit. Outside the blond uses a monowire whip pulled from her thumb to slice open his throat, further infuriating Ariel.
Ogre, the head bouncer with a mini-gun, having the weakest mind of all then turns, leaves his post, and starts to chase our little blond girl. Spydr almost freaked out, and instead rushed out after them. Once in the street, she places herself between the muzzles of the quad-barrel 6mm Gatling gun of Ogre and the fleeing form of Kazure's little blond arse. Much to my relief, Ogre was unable to pull the trigger on Spydr even though the command was given by Ariel.
Once Kazure drew Ariel's wrath, Jio's was not far behind and he soon found himself being chased by an APC. After avoiding the APC he spied an attack helicopter circling overhead, that only appeared there once he started running from Ariel. It was now that he called Sharkman for some friendly advice. Shark tells me he recieved a call from Kazure and was asked how to combat attack helicopters. Shark assumed he had no anti-aircraft missiles or heavy machineguns or he wouldn't be asking this and so he replied, "You run. Run fast and far."
The advice did not exactly please Kazure, but he followed it and via the sewer he eluded his persuers.
The evening continued to pass, and Shark would have dinner with 'The Old Man', whom both you and I know, at Lacoucaracha at 1900. They talked about old times, and future job prospects. Shark voiced an intrest and 'The Fox' promised a job in the near future.
Afterwards Shark stopped by the Web for drinks, then picked up miscellanous equipment he had purchased and finally ened up in the arms of Zona as she tried to tell him about what the doctors had been trying on Mo to bring him back to health.
But it was during the meeting at the Web that he and Spydr would learn a little more about Mike and learn more about their final job for him. They met Mike this time over vid phone with him staring into a mirror looking at an image of himself. Spydr accused Mike of hurting Mo. To which he replied, not denying it, "It wasn't because of what I did, but it was because of me." Spydr went on to ask why, and he then replied, "You can't will the body to let the virus win." Finally Mike remarked on Mo's unfortunate demise, "He was very proficient."
Then Mike lays out their final mission. "Kill a Man," he says, "A man that needs killing." Then a person enters into view on the computer screen, it is the Universal Military guy, and he informs mike that the target has disappeared off the face of the earth. Mike then tells them they may have to wait a couple days. Then the image flickers and fades.
