Dear Anastasius Foch,
Let me get started straight away.
Since it was thursday, the day of the recruitment, they prepared all day. Spydr spoke with Mo and got him started looking into Kazure and the 3M angle. Shark had gotten up at 1000 hours gotten a few things he needed from at Security/Gun store. On the way back he was followed by the Low-Techs. They are a band of technology free, or as free as one can be, idealists. It follows that they have something against a guy like Sharkman, who has traded an ever growing number of his natural parts for better ones. But he stared them down effortlessly, and got home to do his normal workout.
By the time that 2100 rolled around, The HOL was in full swing and bustling with activity. The line to the front door wrapped around to the end of the block and it would take Spydr nearly thrity minutes to get through the line. Shark on the other hand used some of his newly gotten cred to bribe his way past the guy at the back. Despite the outlay of cash he was followed by the bouncers to his annoyment.
Since significant things will be happening soon, I will describe The HOL. A basically round building some fourty feet high, with a domed roof of concrete, and a one story building jutting out from the back. There were three door, one opening onto each sidewalk of the streets that surrounded it on three sides. It is also quite large, taking up nearly a whole block. The back was also securely guarded by four cameras that watched everything that came and went out of the one back-kitchen door, and the loading dock. Inside the round shape provided a ring of seating at tables, three wide, in a band that surrounded the dance floor. The floor had a slight concave shape that dipped down as one approached the center. Above it all was a hanging, dangling, twisting, blinking, strobing, tangled, flashing, mass of wires, conduit, monitors, lights, LED's, and speakers. Inside that mass was a security room which monitored the internal and the roof security.
When the pair of them, Shark and Spydr, were inside they began the surveillance of the bar. It didn't take long to notice the Japanese man sitting alone at a table, who within thrity minutes was joined by a visitor. It was during this time that pairs of men in fatigues began entering the bar from all three doors. In under a minute there were fifteen of them, and one had walked towards the center of the dance floor and the stage. As this "leader" began to shout orders to the crowd, making plain that they were taking over, six blocked the doorway. Kazure began to move his visitor out of the bar, in a semi-protective gesture. He used mono-filament shuriken, to some effect, but they lacked penetrating power to get past the guards armor. Shark on the other hand, who really doesn't like terrorists, opened fire with his big Ares Predator. Two went down in his first volley. Spydr wisely blended into the crowd.
Kazure was making his way out of the bar, so Shark followed. He needed to talk to that guy. As they exited, sub-machinegun fire sprayed the dooway steps behind them. But once outside things didn't get much better. An armored van, with a chaingun on a pintle mount, in the sliding door seemed to impair their progress. It was then that Kazure began to use a pistol and with a well placed head shot, took out the gunner. Shark fired again at the men coming out of the bar, and jumped in the van as Kazure was about to leave. In the process he got shot twice.
Kazure then leaned back and aimed his gun at Shark, whilst driving away. Shark calmly asked, "I've got a job for you."
Kazure considered the asnwer and tossed him a med pack.
As they made their get away and headed back to Kazure's apartment, the terrorists inside the bar began to interrogate the civilians. The man in charge, only referred to as "The General" interrogated Spydr using terms like "those Scum", "The Cause," and "Unwanted Vermin." Typical rhetoric for such patriots. Right after her interrogation finished she radioed Shark regarding her dire straits. He got back in the car with Kazure, called Kid Stealth and the guys, and they all converged on The HOL. Mission: Hostage Rescue.
Once back outside The HOL, Kid Stealth with his .50BMG, and Zig with his .300 Winchester Magnum, took up positions watching the four alley's surrounding the establishment. Half-pint and Gator got on the east door, Zag got on the west door, Boomerang watched the front, and Shark went with Kazure to the rear one-story building. Shark was prepared to blow a hole in the wall to the room Spydr and the bar owner were in, but Kazure had another idea. It is with credit to Shark that he went with the better plan, for Kazure was able to cut a hole in the roof. Shark then lifted the concrete plug out, retrieved both bar owners, and then plugged it back up. With the important people rescued the messy part cold begin. The guards at the door were picked off, and then the roof sensors were destroyed; effectively blinding the hostiles and forcing them to guard the doors from within. A loosing proposition.
Shark then tried to bargin with the fanatics, another thing he hates. They then proclaimed HIM scum and started to execute hostages, one every thirty seconds, until they would be released. This forced Shark's hand, and with only five terrorists remaining, he risked a swarm maneuver.
During the banter and "negotiating" Spydr had taken control of the security station through a hole in the roof Kid Stealth had made while obliterating the terrorist in the station. He had to shoot through the concrete roof to get him you see. Once she was there, she took her sidearm out, something she is loathe to do. She then took careful aim at "The General's" head. As she watched him, she saw he was holding a cell phone with his hand on a button, and relayed this to Shark as he was seconds away from swarming the building.
Kazure meanwhile been working his way in from the back, and removed three or for quards in the process. He was at the moment of the swarm, aiming through a shotgun hole in the wall at "The General's" head, as Shark shouted Ejaculate, "The General" was simultaneously shot through the head by both.
The swarm went as well as could be expected with ranks of hostages blocking each door. Concussion grenades scattered them to good effect and then the Solo's were able to enter the room and shoot each terrorist. Shark dropped a demolitions man with one of the best shots of his life, and then targeted the cell phone sitting on the floor. "You're Disconnected," he pronounced, and with a squeeze of the trigger on his Ithaca 10 gauge, the phone and the bomb were rendered useless.
While policing up the scene the found the one piece of evidence: the terrorist all had the Arabic Flag tattooed on their bodies. Coincidence?
Little things remained but they are of small consequence, so until next time.
Sincerely,
Richard Raven
