September 25, 2045.
Dear Anastasius Foch,
Greetings. Since I know you are eagerly waiting I shall get to the point at hand.
The police arrived to talk to Spydr, as the incident happened just behind her bar. They also spoke with Kid and Shark, who she identified as Runners from out of town: "Frank and Tom." Quite original would not you say? The detective, one Taylor, from Arasaka Corporation South Metro Station, continued to try and interrogate her as Shark and Kid Stealth returned to the bar. During the interrogation Zona went to powder her nose at Shark's suggestion when he spotted the Heavy who had trailed Mr. Gun re-enter the bar. Again, his paranoia-meter peaked.
You may wish to note that Shark has many of the problems and aspects that make a good SecOp. He shows (all contradictory) signs of many syndromes: Martyr, Sheep-Dog, Predator, Hero, and Babysitter.
Where was I, oh yes. The Heavy.
Mr. Heavy gained the ire of both Shark and Kid Stealth, and thus wisely tried to blend with the crowd. He was doing quite well and heading straight for the west bathroom when Spydr swear's he made some kind of signal. This caused numerous people in the bar to toss hand grenades into the air. Each burst splattering water-color paint all over the crowd. Several gang members then tried to intercept Spydr and Kid Stealth who were persuing him as Shark moved to circle around outside to cut him off. Spydr was in the lead and slowed to momentarily break them up as he went by. Kid Stealth snapped a neck and broke a back without batting an eye. The Heavy was only three people away when he disappeared, leaving a suit of clothing on the floor with nothing in them except a five year old picture of Shark.
Shark meanwhile, had gone outside to cut off Mr. Heavy's retreat out the bathroom window. Several Arasaka guards spotted Shark, and as he was brandishing a weapon, they shouted for him to halt. He did not, and they raised their weapons to halt him. He fired a burst from the Ares Predator, which is as big and as intimidating as the Dyna-Morning Star, to get their heads down. He then turned and ran back to the front of The Web. The alley on the far side of the front door spit out an armored ground car with flashers, so he did the only thing he could. He went back into The Web.
None of this had made Spydr very happy, but Shark was her friend and she could not very well turn him or Kid Stealth in. So she locked her doors and called on ZetaTech, her corporate provider to mediate the matter. This they did after the Web was surrounded by SWAT teams for nearly thirty minutes. Spydr meanwhile had bitched Kid Stealth about killing people in her bar, to no effect other than a blank psychotic stare. Losing heart, she then left him and Shark to the storage of the bodies in plastic bags until later disposal.
The activities of the gang and their allegiences still confound them to this day.
Many hours later, the entire group left The Web and returned to the Compound. There Shark would talk with Legs. Legs is a fine young lady with a special talent for Intelligence Analysis. She then put two and two togther.
It is at this point that I should say I left something out of the last letter. The Heavy who had been the subject of their chase was a man named Dillon Thomas. As a notable reporter for HNN (Have-Not-News) he was known to some circles, but mostly pirate TV. The night before he had been covering three incidents of arson out of the ten that happened that night. All were responded to by TTI and all took place on the North Side of the city, with the exception of Zona's building.
Well, it was this man that evaded them, and she showed them videos of Dillon on site in Brainerd, MN live that night at 2300 hours. The same time they were chasing him. Then she showed a second one at the same time in anothe location. Obviously this Dillon was an exceptional man as he was able to perfect the technique I've been working on for years.
Just kidding, but this too sent Shark's paranoic meter skyrocketing. I then returned home from duties around the city and was told the whole story thus far. I admit I was amused, but it would only get better.
Until next time,
Richard Raven
