Tech Profile: Cobalt Micro-Explosive Devices Technology Department-010924 Document Number:559201734BNXXX Level Top Secret-Iridium Linebacker Cobalt Micro-Explosive Devices (CMED) Type: Rocket Launched Guided/Unguided Projectile Weight: Warhead - 18 lb. Launcher - 6 lb. Guidance Unit (GU) - 5 lb. Rocket - Long Range, 20 lb. Medium range, 15 lb. Short Range, 10 lb. Ultra-short Range, 5 lb. Length: Warhead - 12 inches Launcher - 29 inches GU - 8 inches Rocket - 26 inches Size: Warhead - 6 inch daimeter Launcher - LAW size, shoulder fired unit, roughly 9 inches high. GU - clip on Televiewer/minicomputer/laser about size of lunch pail. Rocket(s) - all are 4 inch diameter filled with different density fuels. Damage: 2d6 x 10000 concussion, quartered every 100 yards from ground zero. 1d6 x 1000 heat, quartered every ten yards from GZ. EMP. Range: LR - 75 mile (132,000 yds.) MR - 50 mile (88,000 yds.) SR - 15 mile (26,400 yds.) USR - 3 mile (5,280 yds.) Minimum Safe Range: 400 yds. (~273 pts.); 500 yds. (~68 pts.) Instructions For Use: User grasps rocket and removes safety tab, then pulls arming pin. Rocket is inserted into launcher and turned 90 degrees clockwise while looking down barrel. Rocket is now locked in position. Ensure the triple launch safety is in safe positions on the launch grip, lauch rail, and launch trigger. User then removes warhead from safe-case by entering code on pade under- neath shock latch. Turn cover open and slide out CMED. Remove base plug and check to make sure of cleanness. Screw onto Rocket neck after taking off rocket neck thread cover. Break seal and seat on Launcher shoulder. If using guidance unit, set the GU on launcher guidance rail atop the unit. Slide on and turn quarter-turn screws until locked. (see Guidance for guidance instructions.) If using iron sights, flip up rear peep sight and view target through front post sight. Sight like rifle, align sight picture, and squeeze trigger after removing all three safties in any order. (Note grip trigger will arm warhead at point of launch so pressing 'arm' (red) button is not necessary.) The warhead attachment to the rocket can be done before insertion into the laucher. The seating a warhead/rocket onto launcher shoulder will initialize a warhead/rocket to the GU set on a launcher. Repeating the process cane prepare several rockets for launch ahead of time. Initialization takes 30 usec. The entire loading sequence can be completed in six seconds by a trained operator with the warheads in the safe cases. Four seconds if out. And reloading is a sleek two seconds if the warheads and rockets are already assembled, giving a shot to shot rate of fire of one shot per three seconds. Safties: There are no safties on the warheads themselves. Hindering of the ops was not outweighed by any safety requirements. Two buttons sit on both sides of a warhead. One arms, one disarms. Green Safe; Red Boom/Fire/Detonate. Drop an armed warhead and you won't even notice your mistake, nor will anybody for 300 yards. Guidance: The GU is SOTA and KISS simple. It features a five layer deep redundant guidance package that will hopefully defeat grey sensors. It also has the capability to fire dumb (logic being: you can hit a stealth bomber on the ground with a sling shot.) Three buttons are on the side of the GU facing the user. Green = on. Red = off. Yellow = Range/Acquire. Press the Green button to turn on the unit. Press the Red to shut it off. The unit is equipped with Televiewer optics and SOTA room temp Thermal optics. It includes a laser range finder/designator. All that needs to be done prior to launch is to show the warhead the target. Align the target in the GU cross hairs and press the yellow button. The button must be held for one complete second; two to be safe. A 3000 Hz tone will sound at 30 db for half a second indicating positive lock on. Pull trigger. Duck. Boom. The unit can be initialized (the seating a warhead onto a laucher shoulder) ahead of time and then targets designated even if the GU is up to 100 yds. away. The rocket can take 200G turns at the time of launch up to 10 uds from impact if at max range. Allows for firing at any aspect and any angle. Can reach around corners if turning radius is 50 yds or more. Rocket speed is 1000 yds/sec. Notes: The weapon system is simple to use, rapid to fire, and robust. No moving parts, no cleaning. Whipe down if unit becomes dirty or gritty. Wash launch tube if tube becomes soiled. GU is water, pressure, and wether insensitive; do not open for any reason, ultra-reliable. Users are also advised to use skin and eye protection when firing the weapon, blast/flash is very bright. Security: Take all precautions including terminal intent to prevent from falling into non-Company hands. Execute recovery with maximum force and shock. Use deadly force to protect the company weapons and explosive devices.
