Black Ops Gadgets
Gadgets!! The Bread and butter of Tech Ops. The men and women of Technology department live for the creation of these little suckers. These are the ones that have surfaced in my ongoing "Into The Darkness" Campaign.
List of Gadgets:
- Pen Detector: A Dry Erase marker size device that telescopes out in the manner of a collapsaible pointer. A spring steel band, coiled & wrapped around the pen shaft, then attaches to the end giving it a metal detecting head. Is TL8 and has a jack for plugging into neural jacks or computers.
- Seismic Wand: A walking cane length tool, with a seismic sensing head on the end that makes three dimensional maps of an area underground based on density. Range is about 50 feet. Can be increased... by the normal tech op tinkering. TL8 and has a jack for plugging into neural jacks or computers.
- Thermite/Cutting Paste: Shaving gel can that sprays out a 'Great Stuff' or Gillette Cream consistency material that detonates via a blasting cap. Each can has four caps in the base and has enough spray for sixty feet. Each linear foot will cut through 4" Stainless steel.
- Real-Time Kirlian Motion Camera: Two digital camcorders, mounted side-by-side (for stereo vision), along with a dozen AA batteries, and four different camera flashes. The flashes pulsate and whine as they charge and discharge--but give off no visible flashes. The flashes need modification, and the batteries only last ten minutes. This is an active sensing device (to those with second sight it can be seen like a flashlight), and gives the user the ability to percieve a person/beings aura.
- Room Sectionizer: Approximately the size of a hockey puck this small black cylinder has only a output port. The port connects to computers or neural interfaces. When the object is held up to any wall (not more than 24" thick or containing more than 1" of solid metal) it will probably give you a reasonably accurate cross section of what is in the room. The cross section is given at the level the puck is held at. So multiple readings will give you an idea of what is in the room. It also gives a basic idea of the density of things. This allows it to pretty much tell you what is what. Most of the time that is - tons of variables, and all.
- Asbestos-in-a-Bottle: Good for the times you start yourself on fire; or the flaming burn of hemroids. Guaranteed (by a tech op) to put out any fire and prevent oxidation (fire) for a period of ten-twenty minutes. Sprays a high strenght oxi-inhibitor polymer. Coooool.
- Cardio-Seismic-Tracker (CST): The human heart beats with a general pattern (thummp.. thump.... thump.. thump) and at a relateively low (sub sonic to humans) frequency. This device listens for and locates human heartbeats. Not much more complicated than a shotgun mic with a fancy little computer it is robust and perhaps the most reliable tech op creation of all time.
- Flame Pack: Fire in a bottle (similar to asbestos in a bottle - see above.) Shoots our burning hot stream of magnesium, red phosphorous, and white gasoline (high octane gas.) Roughly the size of a can of shaving cream [2" dia, 4" tall.] Ignites anything except dirt. Good for one use. Covers up to ten square yards. Damage is about 4d6 for 4 minutes (in the absence of more fuel.)
