The Tour of the Yard

Part Two

One last look at the center rose garden before walking back to the back porch.

Now we'll walk along the back of the house towards the west. Planted up near the brick wall is chinensis viridiflora, otherwise known as the Green Rose. The brick wall provides warmth and protection in the winter, otherwise it wouldn't have made it through the winters here. Isn't it lovely?

Further west, we come to the start of the garden of Old Roses. This garden is really several gardens that run along my fence line along the northern and western fence, the eastern fence and around the dog pen.

The first rose we see is Deseree Parmentier who is just finishing up. Two weeks earlier she looked like this. Next to her, Blush Damask is just starting to get going. The yellow rose further on down is my unknown yellow climber.

Strolling in front of the roses. We see Variegata di Bologna sticking out a branch full of large striped blossoms.

Next to it is the unknown yellow climber stretching its branches over Honorine de Brabant, a bourbon that will continue to put out some blooms all summer although not like this initial flush.
