Varigata di Bologna produces fat double blossoms about 3 to 4 inches across. These blossoms are white and pink with red stripes and are quite fragrant.
It is a vigorous grower, going from a 10 inch rooted cutting to a 5 foot high plant in one summer. It is now 4 years old and some canes (cut off in the picture below) are 6 feet high. It only blooms once, but the buds don't all open at once, so there are flowers on the bush for about a month. The bush grows strong, arching canes and the leaves are large and pointed. It is quite winter hardy here in Colorado.

The Bush. If you have reasonable resolution, you should ba able to see many more buds on this bush. Shortly after this picture was taken, the bush was absolutely covered in blooms.
