I aquired this gallica from someone who thought it was Cardinel de Richeleu. It is very similar to the Cardinel, but the flowers are darker purple, with some maroon in them. They also have more substance to the petals and have more color on the reverse of the petals. The leaves are similar, but are a little lighter in color and are slightly more pointed. The stems have more prickles and the prickles are stiffer.
