Scarlet Meidiland

Scarlet Meidiland

Shrub - 1987

Scarlet Meidiland is a member of the Meidiland series of roses - roses meant to be used as landscape plants rather than be grown for exhibition. This one does a good job of repeat blooming all summer with clusters of small (about 1 inch) blooms. The blooms are semi-double and are a really bright scarlet. Some of this bright color stays with the bloom even when it is dead and dried on the bush. Unfortunately, there is no noticable scent.

Scarlet Meidiland only gets about 3 feet tall here near Golden, Co., and about 3 to 4 feet wide. While the Meidiland roses are suppose to be tough, this one does die back quite a bit here. It recovers quickly in the spring and blooms readily on new wood.
