R. Hugonis is one of the earliest roses to bloom in my yard, often being the very first. The pale yellow flowers are small, about 2 inches in diameter and are single. They bloom on very short stems close to the canes, much in the same way as the blooms do on Harison's Yellow and Austrian Copper. I haven't found any fragrance in them yet. The foliage is very small, giving a ferny appearance. This foliage turns lovely deep red in the fall.
My plant is currently only about 3 feet tall, but should reach 6 to 8 feet sometime in the future. It is on its own roots.
