This rose was grown from a seed from the gallica Alain Blanchard. The bloom here does an excellent job of showing the color variations in the flowers, which have pink, lavender, purple, and crimson mixed together. Occasionally a hint of the parentage shows itself in a spot or two on the petals. The bush is about 3 feet tall and about 5 feet wide, and dense. It produces many dark red hips in the fall which my children find quite edible (no accounting for taste). It has typical dark green, rough gallica foliage and is also quite winter hardy.
