Francois Juranville is a very vigorous rambler. It was planted as a small rooted cutting in June 1995 and amazed me with its growth, which was easily five feet out from the center in all directions by fall. The wichuraiana in it was quite obvious in the ground hugging nature of this growth - the canes spread out radially along the ground giving this rose somewhat the appearance of an octopus. It will be interesting to see if it attains some height in 1996. As of February 1996, the canes look quite alive with little dieback, so hopes are high.
There was some bloom late in the summer of 1995. Since it is
supposed to have its heaviest bloom in mid-summer, I expect more
blooms in 1996. The blooms are a bright peachy pink, and quite filled
with quilled petals (narrow and rolled). They come in clusters are
about 2 inches across. The foliage is small and glossy and
some of the canes are quite red.
