Rosa foetida
Rosa foetida lutea, Austrian Yellow
Rosa foetida covers itself very early in the spring with deep yellow,
five petaled blossoms that have bright yellow stamens. The individual
flowers don't last very long and are easily shattered by rain or wind.
The bush is very vigorous, becoming a large shrub 6 feet high very quickly.
The foliage is delicate looking, with 5 to 7 tiny leaflets per leaf. It is
quite winter hardy. Although not a problem here in the dry climate of
Colorado, apparently Rosa foetida is prone to blackspot in more humid
climates.
