Double Delight


Although not known for its form, Double Delight can have much better form than shown in this picture. But I thought this image did a reasonable job of showing how bloom goes through color changes as it opens up an ages. The buds first open up cream colored with maybe a touch of cherry red on the outer petals. If the bloom is cut and brought inside at this point, the cream colored center will be maintained as it opens up. If the bloom is left outside and the weather is sunny, then all the petals will be touched with red.

Double Delight is famous for its fragrance which is very intense and sweet.

In Colorado, Double Delight is healthy, hardy, vigorous and very free flowering. I have it both grafted and on its own roots. Once the own root plant became three years old (from the time the cutting was taken), it was hard to tell from the grafted plant.
