This rose has perhaps the purplest blooms of any rose. I cannot do it justice with this picture, it just has to be seen to be believed. The buds start out deep pink/purple and open to very double blooms that are deep purple. So purple that my kids call it Barney purple. They then age to a grey/violet color.
The bush is about 5 feet wide and 4 feet tall, and fairly dense, with medium green foliage. It does not appear to set hips. As with most of my once blooming roses, there is very little or no winter kill.
