Applejack

Applejack

shrub

Applejack is a good size shrub rose with a loose spreading habit that produces lots of large, semi-double pink blooms in the spring. The blooms start out from long, pointed buds and have a carnation, or clove like scent. I haven't seen much of the stippling that they are supposed to have. The foliage has quite a green apple scent, much like Eglantine although not as intense. After the first big spring flush, it produces blooms rather sporadically the rest of the summer.

Applejack survives most winters with some cane dieback, and no dieback the winter of 1997/1998. It is on its own roots.
