- Konami announced that they have shipped 1.8 million copies of Metal Gear
Solid 2: Sons of Liberty for PlayStation 2 in North America, they expect the sales
to reach 2 million copies by the end of the year.

- Konami announced that they have presale 400,000 copies of their PS2 survival horror
adventure game Silent Hill 2 in Europe, the Euro version is scheduled to
release on November 23. The game has sold over 650,000 copies in Japan and US in the first
month of release.
- Sony announced that they will release a new Mega Hits series for
PlayStation 2 starting this December, which features game titles that have passed the
500,000 mark in Japan. The Mega Hits series is similar to Sony's The Best series
for PlayStation. The first batch of Mega Hits titles are scheduled for release in
December, including:
- Mega Hits: Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec - December 13, 4200 yen
- Mega Hits: Tekken Tag Tournament - December 13, 3980 yen
- Mega Hits: Onimusha - December 20 - 3980 yen.
- Enix announced a decrease of profit for the first half of the 2001 fiscal year. The
sales have decreased by 67.5% to 8.462 billion yen, and the ordinary profit has decreased
by 89.7% to 1.371 billion yen, due to the lack of blockbuster titles such as last year's
Dragon Quest VII and the delay of Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru's Adventure. Enix is
expecting a total sales of 28.2 billion yen, ordinary profit of 10 billion yen and net
profit of 6 billion yen by the end of March 2002.
- Bandai announced an increase in sales for the first half of 2001 fiscal year. The
sales has increased by 17% to 11.1 billion yen, thanks to the strong sales of Power Ranger
and Digimon products in US and Europe. Their PlayStation market has expanded domestically,
but the WonderSwan Color is in a slump. The net profit has decreased by 28% to 5.5 billion
yen.
- Sony and AOL Time Warner announced a cooperation on the broadband communication
business, include joint development of special terminal which serves as a gateway of
digital contents at home, plus corresponding net browser software. AOL is planning to
offer broadband services for Sony's PlayStation 2 the same way as personal computer.
