- Asmik Ace announced a new PS2 flight action game called Sidewinder F,
which will be compatible with Logicool's new Flight Force controller, the
same company who developed the GT Force controller for Gran Turismo 3, featuring force
feedback function, eight direction hat switch, view control, throttle control and six
programmable buttons and triggers. The game features a variety of fighter jets, such as
F-14 Tomcat, F-15 Eagle and YF-23. Sidewinder F is scheduled for release in Japan on
December 13, for 6800 yen. The Flight Force controller will retail for 10,000 yen, and a
bundle pack will retail for 12,800 yen.
- Sony announced that the 2001 2nd quarter sales profit has increased by 98% comparing
to the same period last year, due to the increase of sales for both PlayStation 2 software
and hardware. The sales profit of the 2nd quarter is 4.074 billion yens. Here are the sale
figures for the 2nd quarter
- PlayStation 2 hardware - 4.62 millions units
- PlayStation 2 software - 40 millions units
- PSone hardware - 2.82 millions units
- PSone software - 19 millions units
- Capcom will release the PlayStation 2 action game Maximo in Japan on
December 27, for 6800 yen. Those who pre-order the game in advance will receive a pair of
specially made "pants of courage", which is the one the hero wears in the game.
- Arika, the maker of Street Fighter EX series, will release the first online mahjong
game for PS2 called Play Mahjong: Net & Ron in Japan on December 20,
for 6800 yen. The game will support up to 4 players simultaneously over the Internet. The
game is fully compatible with the PS2 USB modems, keyboard, mouse and HDD unit. Arika is
also looking for 1000 test users for the game, the details will be announced at Japan
PlayStation.Com on October 30.
- Sony announced Gran Turismo Concept 2001
Tokyo for PlayStation 2, the latest installment of the popular racing simulation series, featuring
20 types of prototype concept cars exhibited in the car show, and at least 5 racing courses. Gran Turismo Concept 2001 Tokyo is scheduled to release in Japan on January 1, 2002, for 3200 yen.

- Namco and Capcom will be holding a Namco GunCon2 Battle Championship in Tokyo
& Osaka event in Tokyo and Osaka on November 11 and 23. Time Crisis II and
Gun Survivor 2: Biohazard Code Veronica will be used for the competition rally. Winners of
the rally will receive specially made GunCon2 Gold and GunCon2 Silver controllers, which
are not available for retail. There are also playable demos of both games in the show.
 
- Gust will release a new PlayStation 2 adventure game called Hermina &
Cruz: Another Story of Atelier Lilie in December. In this game you play as an
assistant of Lilie, who helps Atelier Lilie to create an artificial human named Cruz, with
the secret art of alchemy. In the game you must teach Cruz to learn, talk and behave like
a human.

- Trans Cosmos, an information synthesis service enterprise, announced that they have
acquired the customer support business for XBox in Japan. The customer service will begin
on February 22, 2002.

- Yahoo Japans has decided to cooperate with Nintendo of Japan and 8 other companies to
provide news services in Yahoo Instant Messenger, including information of the latest
Nintendo game titles.

- Global A Entertainment announced a new horror adventure game for GameBoy Advance
called 24 Hours Ghost Resident, scheduled to release in Japan on January
10, 2002. In this game you will play as three high school students who entered a ghost
resident to look for their cat. The mansion is filled with ghost, evil spirits and death
traps, can you escape from the mansion safely? This game also supports multiplayers, up to
4 players can play the game simultaneously through the link cable. There are 32 kinds of
ghosts and evil spirits in the game, and dozens of puzzles and death traps.

- Chun Soft will release Adventure of Toruneko 2 Advance for GBA in
Japan on December 20, for 5980 yen. The latest sequel of their popular Toruneko mysterious
dungeons RPG series. The game is based on the PlayStation version, and the graphic quality
will be the same as the PS version, but there will be a new, unannounced function not
found in the original (perhaps multiplayer function through the link cable?).
