- The Dengeki Console Ranking Top 50 Chart is updated, this week's best seller is Koei's PS2 action game Shin Sangoku Musou 2 (Dynasty Warriors 3), sold over 266,000+ copies. The second is Banpresto's never ending robot battle simulation game Super Robot Taisen A, sold 161,000+ copies, and Namco's Ace Combat 04 dropped down to 3rd place, sold 61,000+ copies. After the launch week, sales of GameCube titles have dropped down by as much as 5 times, this week the sale of Nintendo's Luigi Mansion has roll backed to 29,000+ units, and the total sales is 163,000+ copies. The two other GameCube launch titles have also dropped out of the top 20.

- Namco has released dozen of new screen shots of their arcade weapon fighting game Soul Calibur 2. A new character named Cassandra is revealed, who is Sophie's younger sister. Several character from the past game will return as well, including Ivy, Sophie, Taki, Mitsurugi and Asterisk. The 8-way running system will return to the game, you can run to the side of the opponent and attack the weakness.

- Eolith and SNK have released first details of the long awaited fighting game The King of Fighters 2001. This time the game will have 10 playable teams, each consists of 4 characters like in KOF99 and 2000. A new Tactical Order Select System will be replacing the 3 characters + 1 striker system. There is one new team and 4 new characters in the game. The new team is NEST, with Kula and 3 new characters: Foxy, Angel and K9999. Another new character Mei-Li will be in Jhun Foon's Korean Team... - Here are some new screen shots of Enix / Tri-Ace's PlayStation 2 RPG game Star Ocean 3. This time the game will have a futuristic setting, with different civilizations around the world. The graphics will be in full 3D, the enemies will be displayed in the field, you can choose to fight or avoid them. Up to 3 players can participate in battles, there are 3 main characters this time, Feit and Sofia are the two confirmed female characters, there is another unnamed male character. Enix is playing to show a playable demo of the game at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2001 Fall.

- Sony announced that they have shipped a total of 17.9 million units of PlayStation 2 worldwide by the end of August 2001. Here are the breakdowns:

• Japan - 6.54 millions
• North America - 7.23 millions
• Europe - 4.14 millions

- Bandai will release Space Battleship Yamato: Recollection of Iskandar for PlayStation 2 in Japan this December, the latest installment of the war simulation game, featuring cel-shaded graphics and realtime 3D battles.

- Sony Computer Entertainment America clarified that they will be sticking with the current price level for PlayStation 2, there won't be a price reduction of the PS2 hardware this year.

- Check out some latest screen shots of Tecmo's Dead or Alive 3, with the appearance of Genfu and Leon. Both characters will have new moves such as reversal-crossing tackle and wall throw.
