- The latest Nintendo GameCube sales figures are out in the Dengeki
Console Ranking Top 50 Chart. Nintendo's GameCube launch title Luigi Mansion has sold
133,677 copies, outselling Wave Race Blue Storm and Sega's Super Monkey Ball by at least 5
times. However, Namco's Ace Combat 04 has topped the sales of GameCube titles with
183,000+ sold copies. Capcom's Capcom Vs SNK 2: Millionaire Fighting 2001 is also doing
quite well, with over 200,000 copies sold (PS2 and DC version combined).
- In the hardware department, Nintendo GameCube has sold over 133,700 units during the
launch week, although not as ground breaking as expected, but it still outsold both
GameBoy Advance and PlayStation 2 by more than 2 times during the past week.
- Update on Sega Hitmaker's Dreamcast / Naomi arcade tennis sequel Power Smash
2 (Power Smash 2 / Tennis 2K2). The game maintain the simple but depth
operations, with improved quality and volume, this time it is possible to perform
character training in the game. There are 8 male and 8 female professional players in the
game. There are 3 game modes available: World Tour Mode allows you to use over 1000
player's patterns to create your own tennis player. After creating a custom character, you
can train the player to join the match and get more experience. There are new mini games
and Mix doubles so you can enjoy more and longer...

- Namco announced 3 more hidden characters in the arcade version of Tekken 4,
they are Nina Williams, Lei Wulong and Bryan Fury, all returning characters from the

- Sega and Namco announced an alliance in amusement arcade business, in order to cut
development cost and create new entertainment services.
P L A Y S T A T I O N / P L A Y S T A T I O N 2
- Hudson announced that they will release Bomberman Kart for
PlayStation 2 in Japan this December, a kart racing game featuring characters from the
Bomberman universe. This game supports up to 4 players simultaneously, and it is not just
a racing game. There are also a few mini games included, such as Bomberman Soccer and
Tunnel Racing. There are 5 playable characters in the game, including Bomberman, Dark
Bomberman, Baby Bomber, Lady Bomber and Golden Bomberman.

- Namco has released new details on their PlayStation fan game Tale of Fandom
Vol. 1. This fan disc is for fans of Tales of Phantasia, Tales of Destiny, Tales
of Phantasia Dungeons (GBC) and Tales of Eternia (PS), featuring an adventure game, a
columns style puzzle game and a gallery mode. The adventure game is based on the TalesWeb
drama in Japan, with full voice performed by popular radio actors / actresses. There is
also an original character named Primula in the adventure game.

- Eidos has postponed the release of Soul Reaver 2 for PS2 from
September 25 to sometimes in mid-October, in order to polish the game.
- Enix of America will release the US version of Dragon Warrior VII
(Dragon Quest VII) for PlayStation on November 1.
- Konami announced that their highly anticipated PlayStation 2 game Metal Gear
Solid 2 will remain in schedule, for release in November 13. However, a scene
which show the World Trade Center building will be removed from the game due to the recent
terrorist incident. Konami also emphasized that the theme of Metal Gear Solid 2 focuses on
establishment of peace, not terrorism, there will be no change to the game plot.
- Sony has pushed back the release date of their PlayStation stealth action game Syphon
Filter 3, due to the recent terrorist events, they are planning to modify the
marketing and advertising plans, in concern for the welfare of the victims and the
involved people.
H A N D H E L D S
- Capcom will release the GameBoy Advance port of Street Fighter Zero 3 Upper
in Japan on November 30, for 4800 yen. The game is a complete port of the arcade version,
featuring all 3 ISM modes, and unconfirmed news stating that the GBA port will feature 3
new characters from Capcom Vs SNK 2, they are Eagle (SF1), Maki (Final Fight 2) and Yun

- Namco has pushed back the release date of their GBA fighting game Tekken
Advance to spring 2002.
X B O X
- Microsoft announced a delay to the XBox launch in North America by
one week from November 8 to November 15, just 3 days ahead of the Nintendo GameCube launch
on November 18. Microsoft also announced that they have begun to manufacture the XBox
console in Guadalajara, Mexico, which will be able to produce 100,000 units a week.
- Eidos announced that they will release TimeSplitters 2 for XBox in
early 2002, shortly after the release of the PS2 version.

- RUMOR: IGN reported that Nintendo has canceled the development of 1080
Snwoboarding for GameCube.
