- Square announced a new PlayStation 2 soccer game called World Fantasista, the game features 36 professional players from Japan, to compete with 35 world soccer teams such as France and Brazil. The Final Fantasy production staffs are also responded for the opening movie of the game. World Fantasista is scheduled for release in Japan on May 30, for 6800 yen.

- Sony Computer Entertainment / ClapHanz announced they have shipped 1 million units of their popular PlayStation 2 sports game Everybody's Golf 3 (Hot Shot Golf 3) in Japan.

- Global A Entertainment announced a new PlayStation 2 action simulation game called Bad Magistrate, in this game you become a bad magistrate to carry out evil doings, your mission is to protect the magistrate residence, and set traps to knock down people who are trying to enter the residence. Bad Magistrate is scheduled for release in Japan this summer.

- Here are some screen shots of Electronic Arts / DreamWorks' PlayStation 2 action shooter Medal of Honor: Frontline, the game is scheduled to release in June.

- UNCONFIRMED: Eolith announced first details of The King of Fighters 2002. This time the game will have a total of 56 playable characters, 14 teams. There are at least 5 new teams in the game, include:

• Theft Team - Lin, Sai, Ran, Chitto
• New Korean Team - May Lee Jinju, Jhun Hoon, Kim Dong Hwang (Mark of the Wolves), Kim Jae Hoon (Mark of the Wolves)
• Southtown Team: Li Xiang Fei, Billy Kane, Rick Strowd (Real Bout 2), Tsugumi Sendo (Real Bout 2)

- Cave will release a new arcade shooting game called Do-Doi-Pachi Revival in Japan next month. The latest sequel of the popular Doi-Pachi shooting series. This time there is a new Hyper Gauge, when the gauge is full, you can enter the Hyper Mode, during the time your jet will have stronger fire power and higher speed.

- In addition to porting classic Mega Drive, Saturn and Dreamcast game titles to XBox, Cool Net Entertainment is also working two original game titles. One is a XBox simulation RPG called Rune Bird, another one is a PlayStation 2 action adventure game Buzz Rod, both games are scheduled for release sometimes this fall.

- Sega will be revealing two or more brand new game titles at GameJam 2 on March 30 to 31.

- The latest sales data show that Capcom's highly anticipated remake of Biohazard was unable to meet the sales expectation, the game has only sold around 104,000 units in Japan in the first weekend. In the same week, Sega sold over 216,000 units of Sakura Taisen 4: Maidens fall in Love for Dreamcast, and Bandai has sold 246,000 units of One Piece Grand Battle II for PlayStation. Capcom's medieval adventure game Onimusha 2 has sold over 850,000 units to date in Japan.

- Nintendo of America will release a new Memory Card 251 for GameCube on June 14, for $19.95 (2700 yen). On the same date, Nintendo will also release the cordless GameCube controller Wildbird for $39.95 (5300 yen).

X B O X

- Microsoft announced MechAssault for XBox, the latest sequel to the popular 3rd person action shooter. In the game you control the combat robot called BattleMech, to accomplish different missions. Choose from a dozen Mechs ranging from quick 30-tonners to huge 100-ton beasts. There are 20 single player missions, the game will also have network support, allowing players to battle online and chat during the game. There will be additional online missions. MechAssault is scheduled for release in November, for $49.99 US.
