- The Console Charts and the Arcade and Most Wanted Charts are updated.
- In a recent interview, SNK NeoGeo Hong Kong has revealed the
company's plans for the year. SNK NeoGeo Hong Kong has been re-establish early in January,
after the closure in 1999. SNK NeoGeo Hong Kong has confirmed that the pachinko maker
Playmore has acquired all the intellectual properties of SNK, and they have re-established
the game business in Korea, Japan and Hong Kong. SNK NeoGeo is planning to release 5
arcade games and at least 2 home console games this year.
- The first new arcade game will be released in February
- A new fighting game will be released in May
- Eolith is currently developing The King of Fighters 2002, the game is scheduled for
release in September
- Before the release of KOF2002, SNK will be hosting a KOF2001 tournament in Asia
- Brezza Soft is co-developing several new titles with SNK NeoGeo
- Sun Amusement will continue to publish SNK NeoGeo arcade titles in Japan, and Brezza
Soft will handle the publishing business oversea
- Korean firm Mega Enterprise has acquired the rights from SNK to develop the side
scrolling action game Metal Slug 4
- New sequels of Garou: Mark of the Wolves and Samura Spirits are under development.
- Here are some character shots of Mega Enterprise's Metal Slug 4, the
game will be released in arcade next month.

- The Dengeki Console Ranking Top 50 Chart is updated,
the sales of console software have dropped back to the usual levels after the holidays,
the only new game title in the top 50 is Takara's Choro-Q HG2 at #8. This week's top 3
titles are Gran Turismo Concepts 2001 Tokyo, Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation Vs Zion and
Momotarou Dentei X.

- Enix announced a PSone port of their popular GameBoy Color RPGs Dragon Quest
Monsters, the PSone version is called Dragon Quest Monsters I & II,
which contain Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland, Dragon Quest Monsters II:
Mysterious Key of Martha: Iru's Journey & Ruka's Adventure. The PSone version will
feature additional scenarios not found in the GBC versions, the graphics will remain in
2D, and the game will be compatible with i-Mode adaptor for PSone, allowing you to
exchange data with the i-Mode (cellular phone) version Dragon Quest Monsters i.,
which will be released on January 28.
- Namco announced a new game mode in the PlayStation 2 version of Tekken 4,
called Tekken Force Assault, an 3D action combat game in which you blast
your way through a large number of characters and battle with the boss at the end of each
stage, just like a 3D beat-em up action game. Each playable character will have his / her
own story in the Tekken Force Assault mode. Three playable characters in this mode are
revealed: Kazuya Mishima, Hwoarang, and Yoshimitsu.

- Namco announced Klonoa Beachball for PSone, a new beach volleyball
title featuring characters from Klonoa. The game features an easy control scheme, you use
one button for attack and two buttons for passing, each character can also perform his /
her own special attacks. Klonoa Beachball is scheduled for release this spring, supporting
up to 4 players simultaneously.

- UNCONFIRMED: Square will begin to develop the latest sequel of Saga for
PlayStation 2, the previous works include Romancing Saga and Saga Frontier.

- Here are some new screen shots of Activision / Climax's rally racing game Race
of Champions, the game will be coming to PlayStation 2, GameCube and XBox
sometimes in mid-2002, featuring real life rally racers and car models from several
manufacturers such as Lancia, Porsche, Citreon, Audi, Mitsubishi, Toyota and more.
