Who I Am

Wanna know something about me? You came to the right place. : )

I'm quite easy-going, energetic and optimistic. Being a Chinese Christian, I'm very traditional and conservative at the same time, but it doesn't mean that I'm not an open-minded person.

As a daughter of the generation of the Cultural Revolution, my childhood was spent in Xinjiang, the remotest province in the west of China (If you're interested in knowing about my birthplace, click here or the picture below).Common Scene in Xinjiang My former home was in a peaceful and unpolluted little town in the northwest of Xinjiang. We had a small yard, in which we used to grow apple trees, strawberries, grape tree and various kinds of veggies. Around our yard, there were rows of poplars, the most common trees in Xinjiang.

I never had the chance to ride a horse, but I did go to the grassland and know how the life as a shepherd is like. I often feel it's such a great treasure that I spent my most splendid days there, I was given my personality, and I really feel happy 'cos I am me. ; )

The beautiful scenery and delicious fruits there are what I miss most. I used to see clear and starry skies, green mountains, blue lakes, quietly-flowing brooks and flowery valleys... Water melons and grapes, which are SO sweet, used to be my favorites in every summer and fall... Although winter is freezing, with the pure snowflakes, winter life can be as colorful as I could expect, and think about white Christmas, isn't it charming? And, I would never forget the pink sky during snowing...

I went to the Xinjiang Normal University in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, majoring in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). After my graduation, I came back to Shanghai to reunite with my family and to seek for a career. Shanghai has never been an unfamiliar place to me. My love for this city is as much as that for Xinjiang. I took my first job in Qingpu, where my family live. The first year of my work experience was not as cool as I had expected, but it was a good start, and I did learn a lot from the people around me. Then I switched my job to look for a new start, so far, I've been enjoying what I'm doing now.

Although I'm no longer a child, I love little funny stuff as I did ten years ago. In my leisure time, I like to read the cartoon books my younger sister borrowed for me, sometimes we even discuss the characters in the books together, for instance, we both love Slam Dunk. I enjoy watching cartoon movies produced by Disney, and I collect almost all the music soundtracks of cartoon movies issued by Disney. I'm sure I will love them even when I become an old old woman. The other hobby of mine is to follow ads to buy new products, I often find it very difficult to arrange all the different shampoos or facial foams or things I may not even use, but new brands are still great temptations to me as long as the ads say they're good. : (

My StudentsOnce I was an English teacher in a junior high school, I enjoyed the days spent with my students very much. I knew them well 'cos I also experienced teen years. I love them, and vice versa. Some of them still keep in contact with me via mail. Lately I received a letter from a former student. She sent me a pictureRecent Picture of My Students with some of my students on it, I was so happy to see it.

My greatest ambition is to be a teacher when I pass the age of 40, I wish I could teach not only knowledge in books but also knowledge of life to my students.

Well, I guess you must have had enough of my story, you are welcome to ask me any question you have, just send an email to chinalace@hotmail.com with all of them. Now please continue your tour over my world.
