Net Aid (and Stonewall)
Net Aid took place on the 9th of October in 1999. Probably the biggest event in the history of music since Live Aid in the 80's. George performed "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?", "Father Figure", "Freedom '90" and "Fastlove". However, even though this is his biggest performance in years, he has decided that the sound quality from the concert is too lousy. So for us who weren't there won't be able to see him on stage. For a long while he promised that BBC would play two songs: "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?" and "Father Figure", but just before the show got on air, he decided not to. I watched his performance on the internet, and have to say that he stole ALL the attention that evening. Not even Robbie Williams got the audience in such a state of mind! (I'm not a fan of Robbie, but he ALWAYS steals the show - for some reason that I can't figure out...) "Fastlove" was hysterical, and the audience forgot the Kosovan and African refugees - if only for a brief minute...
He started off with this. Man, does he
look like a god or what? And he's trying to tell us that he
"ain't Mister Right"??? Nice try, darlin', but it won't
work. It didn't in 1996 when it appeared on "Older"
and it won't work now either. "Fastlove"
is absolutely brilliant... we did miss the shower-scene
though...lol
I believe he sang "Brother, Can You
Spare a Dime" sitting. A touching song and perfect
for the occasion! Little did we know about George's
new album which was to be released in December and that this song
was one of the great songs? Watch it here
"As I take your hand and lead you to the
dancefloor..." No, that's not what he sang, but it reminds
you of a certain video, doesn't it? He lookes kind of like a
cross between the man he was when "Older"
came out and Bono...lol... And he looks great as
always...

What a great
performer he is... I wish I was there, but I did watch over the
internet, and I think I saw more than the unlucky people on the
back of the stadion.

Stonewall
And then there was Stonewall in November 1999. I don't have much information about it, other than it's a gay-pride thing they have every year, and this was the 10th (?) anniversary.
I wish I was there... What can I say, I'm a poor student...lol... Anyway, here you have some pics.
