1978 - 1987

INTRODUCTION
I am presenting here the photographs taken from 1978. I started this hobby when I was still at school and carried on throughout my university years. Photography was a hobby seriously pursued. I enjoyed taking pictures of buildings, landscapes and nature. My mother never understood why my photographs never had my face or anybody's face on them.

I like going to KL on weekends to take pictures of the buildings. It was only a 40 sen minibus ride from my home. I can spend the whole day downtown, walk and walk and snap away. It was much safer then, without having to worry about muggers and their likes. Those were the days.

The air was also cleaner then, and almost always I would get blue skies, pearly white clouds and miles of visibility. You can see that from the photographs in this gallery.

Special Effects Gallery

These photographs were taken with a Ricoh SLR. Lens used were 50mm and more often 35-210mm zoom. A 2x teleconverter was also used in some. The macro photographs were taken with a homemade extension bellows incorporating the 50mm lens. Some (landscapes) were taken with a polariser filter. Night shots (long exposure) were taken with the help of a cable release. They were all prints, and Kodak paper prints were the best because the colour remained true till today! My first choice for film is Kodak, although I am not too particular and had used all brands (Fuji, Agfa, Konica). I scanned these prints with a Canon scanner and touched-up with PaintShopPro4.
