Takes place five years after Love
Will Lead You Back
Prudence (Prue) Halliwell
She works at 415 Magazine as a
very successful photographer. She sometimes travels, like once or twice
every six months. She lives in Dan's old house with her husband Jason Hart.
She is also the mother of Andrew and Josephine (Jo) Hart. She has the powers
of telekinesis, astral projection, and blinking (but didn't get it from
evil).
Piper Halliwell
She owns a chain of restaurants
and nightclubs in Northern California, including P3, Quake, and Toscana
? the restaurant where she and Leo had their first real date. She has the
powers of temporal stasis with increased range and rewinding time (up to
an hour). She lives in a house across the street from the Manor with her
husband, Leo Wyatt, and three kids. She stays home most of the time and
has to pick up her four-year-old son from pre-school.
Phoebe Halliwell
She is a nurse at San Francisco
Memorial Hospital. She has the power of premonitions and flying. She lives
at the manor with her son.
Paul Halliwell
He's a year younger than the twins
are. He is a little popular. His Dad was Cole. He has the power of premonitions.
He is a sophomore at Baker High and is into Drama. He is almost in every
play.
Lucy & Patty H. Wyatt
Patty is daughter to Piper and
Leo Wyatt. She loves to cook, shop, and sing. Sheís a little popular, inherited
her concern for others from her Dad, and has the powers of temporal stasis
and the healing touch. She is a Senior at Baker High School and an A average
student. Sheís also on the Girlsí Varsity Soccer team and in the Women's
Choir. Lucy loves to cook, shop, and dance. Sheís an outdoorsy kind of
girl. She has her Dad and sister's same concern for others. She has the
powers of telekinesis and orbing. Sheís a B average student at Baker High
and is on the Dance Ensemble team. They both own a small sky blue jeep.
She uses it to go shopping and to the beach with her sister, cousins, and
friends. Their favorite food is ruffle potato chips with her very special
dip: white/chocolate frosting with little bits of fruit in it.
Leo Wyatt
He is a stay home father (except
when he goes away on white-lighter business). He has his white-lighter
powers and lives with his wife and three kids.
Andrew Hart
He is the same age as Paul, but
two months younger. He has two powers since his Dad's a good warlock and
his mother's a good witch. He has the power of icy mist (from his Mom)
and shape shifting his voice (from his Dad).
Josephine (Jo) Hart
She is in eight grade and wants
to be a writer for sci-fi or mystery stories when she grows up. She also
wants to be a cheerleader. She loves mystery stories and is very good at
spying. She, like her brother Andrew, has two powers. She has the power
of astral projection (from her Mom) and blinking (from her Dad).
Paul sat on the window seat in the
attic of his Victorian Manor home, staring out the window. For the past
four years, he had been living their with his mother, alone. His Aunt Prue's
family lived next door and his Aunt Piper's family lived across the street
from him. His Mom was working late at the hospital. He glanced at the city
below, wondering about his father. All he knew was that his father's name
was Cole Turner and that he was an ADA that was killed by a demon when
he tried to save his mother. He had seen pictures of his father, but that
was all he knew.
His Aunt Prue told him that his
mother was devastated for months about her husband's death. Just then,
a strong gust of wind blew through the open window, blowing the Book of
Shadows open. Paul quickly stumbled over to the window and closed it tight.
He then walked over to the book that rested on the podium. He looked at
the page it had landed on.
It was the page about a demon called
Belthazor. He touched the page and suddenly fell into a premonition. He
saw his Mom stuck in a corner of a gray room that looked like a mausoleum,
fear tearing her eyes. He then saw his father stand in front of her. A
demon was there and fired a fireball at Paul's Dad. Paul then saw Cole
turn into Belthazor and fire an energy ball at the demon.
Paul then came out of the premonition.
He was in a state of shock. He glared at the page across from it and saw
that it said Belthazor's human form. Underneath it was a picture of his
father. "My Dad is a demon?" he asked to nobody.
***
"Earth to Paul. Come in Paul,"
Lucy said as she and her twin sister Patty sat down beside Paul. The two
of them were his Aunt Piper's daughters. They were identical twins that
were seniors at their High School, Baker High. "Are you all right?" a familiar
voice asked behind him. Paul turned around to find his cousin, his Aunt
Prue's son, Andrew Hart, sitting down beside him.
"Are you all right?" Lucy asked.
All his cousin's eyes were on him. "There's nothing wrong." "You're only
quiet and zoned out when something's wrong. You've always done that," Patty
said. Paul studied her. He knew she was one person that he couldn't lie
too. He gave her a small smile. "All right. All right. I'll spill my guts,"
he said. He ushered her and the others closer. That signaled them that
it was something Wiccan.
When they were all together, Paul
cleared his throat. "Last night, I was in the attic, just thinking about
my Dad. The book then blew open by the wind. I closed the window and went
to the book. It had stopped on the page out a demon named Belthazor. I
touched it and had a vision of my Dad fighting a demon. Then, my Dad turned
into the demon Belthazor." "What?" Andrew cried in a quiet outrage.
"I swear that's what I saw." "Well,
why don't you ask your Mom about it? I meanÖ" "You're right, Patty. I will
? Tonight."
***
Paul found himself sitting at the
dinning room table, finishing some homework around seven that night. Just
then, the front door opened and he looked up to see his Mom walk through
in her nurse's outfit. "Hey sweetie. How ya doing?" "Fine," he said, emotionless,
turning back to his homework. His Mom walked up to him. "What's wrong?"
He didn't answer.
She pulled up the chair next to
him and sat down. "Listen, I know something's wrong." Paul just looked
up and straight ahead. "Last night, I had a premonition," he said. He explained
everything, from what he was touching to what he saw. His Mom looked down
worried. "Is it true? Was Dad a demon?"
"UmÖ" "I want the truth, Mom,"
Paul said, his voice slightly raising. She looked up and into his eyes.
"Yes. He was a demonÖ and you're half demon." "Why didn't I know about
this till now?" "Because the day you came home from the hospital, your
Dad bound your demonic powers." "And when were you going to tell me? Never?"
"No. We were planning on telling
you in four more years, when we thought you'd be old enough to handle it."
"You thought I wouldn't be old enough to handle this until I was twenty?"
he asked, standing up. His Mom could tell he was angry. He definitely has
his father's temper, she thought.
"Look, I know you're mad, but your
father and I did this because we didn't want you to be evil." "What makes
you guys think I would turn over to the side of evil?" "Because you remind
me a lot of your father. After his mother, who was a demon, killed his
father, who was human, your Dad was raised to be evil. Then he turned good
and then went back to evil. He switched a lot and we were afraid that somehow,
you would turn evil, weather it be peer-pressure or otherwise." "Mom, don't
you know me better than that?" She sighed and looked at the ground. "I
got to go," he said, heading for the front door.
"Go? Go where?" his Mom asked,
worried. "Just out!" He slammed the door behind him. Phoebe bit her bottom
lip slightly as fear expanded inside her body.
***
Piper was in the living room of
her large four bedroom house, cleaning up some of the art mess that her
four-year-old son, Angel, made on the coffee table. Just then, the phone
rang from the hall. "I'll get it," Leo said. He picked it up as he walked
into the living room and saw Piper scrubbing the crayon stain out of the
coffee table.
"Hello?" "Is Paul over there?"
Phoebe asked frantically from the other line. Piper glared up and he mouthed
Phoebe to let her know who was on the phone. "No. He's not. Is everything
all right?" Phoebe chuckled sarcastically a little. "Well, if you count
having a small fight as all right, then yes." "What happened?" Leo asked,
concerned for his nephew. "He had a vision last night of Cole turning into
Belthazor and got mad at me for not telling him and left. I already tried
Prue's, but he's not there." "How long ago did he leave?"
"Twenty minutes ago. He seemed
pretty pissed off when he left. I'm so worried." "Well, how about we wait
a little while and if he doesn't show up in half an hour, we'll come over
there and search for him." "All right. Thanks. You're one of the best brother-in-laws
I have." Leo smiled. "Bye." "Bye."
He hung up. "What happened?" Piper
asked as she finally won her battle with the stain. Leo sighed and sat
down on the sofa. "Paul and Phoebe got into a small fight and he took off
twenty minutes ago." "What was the fight about?" Piper asked as she stood
up off the floor and dusted off her jeans. "Paul had a vision yesterday
and found out that his Dad was Belthazor and got mad at her for not telling
him."
***
Paul trotted down a street and
arrived in Golden Gate Park. He looked up and saw a family playing at a
playground. He remembered the time when his Aunt Piper and Mom took him
and Patty to the park. "No! Let me go!" Paul jerked his head toward a clutter
of trees to where the voice was coming from. He decided to investigate
and ran over to find a man with short dark brown hair around his age tossing
a girl in front of a tree like she was a dishcloth, knocking the girl into
unconsciousness.
"Hey!" Paul shouted. The guy whirled.
"The lady told you to leave her alone." "Yeah. And what are you going to
do about it?" he asked as he advanced forward. That was a good question.
Usually, he had one of his cousins, Aunts, Uncles, or his Mom with him
to help him. But what could he do alone. He only had a passive power. "Just
leave the lady alone."
The guy then grew a concern look
on his face. Paul grew a confused look when he saw the guy starting to
sniff. "I smellÖ another witch around here, butÖ is that a half demon I
smell also?" Paul just stared at the ground, casting off a slight look
like he had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. "Ah! You're half
witch and half demon? How can that be?" Paul glared up. "That's none of
your business. Just leave her alone." The guy thought for a moment. He
then smiled.
"I have a deal for you. If you
come with me and let me show you where your demonic heritage comes from,
I'll let the girl go." Paul studied him suspiciously. "I promise not to
harm her again." Why not? Just going with him will save one witch's life
and that's good, he thought. He held out his hand, but part of his conscious
was telling him that this was wrong. He just felt so confused and mixed
up, like he was torn between good and evil.
"Deal," he announced. The guy shook
his hand. "You can call me Dylan. I'm a demon." "Paul." Dylan smiled. Paul
tried to pull his hand back, but Dylan held onto it tightly. "I need to
hold your hand to get there," he said. Before Paul could answer, the two
blinked away.
***
Phoebe nervously tapped her fingers
on the table in the hall. She then looked at the clock by the stairs and
noticed that it was 7:49. She couldn't wait any longer. She was about to
head to the phone when she heard the front door open. She whirled around
and saw Piper, Leo, and Patty enter the Manor. She then heard the back
door open and jerked her head toward the kitchen to see Prue and Andrew
come through.
They all walked up to Phoebe. "I
was just about to call you guys." "Well, Paul told Patty and Lucy about
the vision, so they know." "So does Andrew," Prue said. "Have you tried
calling a premonition?" Piper asked. Phoebe sighed. "What do you think,
Piper? I was born yesterday. Yes, I have. I held his backpack, but got
nothing." Piper's eyes wondered behind them to the foyer. She then walked
over and picked up a picture that Phoebe had taken last month of Paul when
they went to visit Phoebe's Dad.
She walked back next to her husband
and handed the picture to her younger sister. "Maybe you should try again."
Phoebe took the picture quickly and used her fingers to trace the shape
of her son. Just then, she fell into a vision. She saw her son and another
guy that looked about his age simmer into a very familiar place. She saw
an altar with candles lit.
She gasped loudly as she came out
of the vision. She opened her eyes. "Pheebs, take a deep breath," Prue
couched, comforting her sister. Phoebe took a deep breath in and let it
out. "All right. What did you see?" Piper asked. Phoebe glanced at each
face in the house. "I sawÖ Paul shimmer into Cole's old hideout with another
guy, most likely a demon," Phoebe said, cleverly hiding her fear.
Prue and Piper grew slightly scared
expressions. "So what do we do now?" Andrew asked. Everyone thought for
a moment.
***
Paul blinked with Dylan into a
cave-like area. He looked around and saw an altar in the middle with a
dozen candles lit around it. "Wow," he awed. Suddenly, a woman with a black
cloth entered the room, drawling both young men's attention. The woman
drew back her hood to reveal her short, medium brown hair. She looked to
be about ten years older than Aunt Prue. "Mother," Dylan addressed the
woman as she looked up. Her eyes widened. "Heller, who is this?" she asked
in an English accent, which made it sound like she was from Australia or
New Zealand.
Paul figured that Heller was Dylan's
demon name. The woman then walked a little closer to Paul and sniffed the
air. Paul tried his hardest to keep a straight face and succeeded.
"I thought I told you to kill a
witch, not bring one here." "But Mother, I can explain. I was about to
when this guy Paul showed up, ordering me to let her go. I found out he's
half-demon." The woman studied Paul and took another sniff. "Who are your
parents?" Paul figured that they wanted to know which one of his parents
was a demon. "My father's name was Cole Turner." Both Dylan and his mother
cast him a confused look. Paul sighed.
He figured he better use his Dad's
demon name, finding it still hard to believe that his father was a demon.
"Belthazor." Dylan's mother's eyes widened. "Belthazor? You're the great
and powerful Belthazor's son?" Paul nodded, figuring he better play it
safe. "And I bet that rumor I heard was true ? he fell in love with a witch,
one of the Charmed Ones. Is that witch your mother?" Paul just glared at
the ground, not wanting to say anything. Dylan's Mom's smile widened. "You're
safe with us here," she quickly lied and dragged her son aside.
***
About that same time, Phoebe found
herself in the attic with her sisters, Leo, Patty, and Andrew. They were
looking through the Book of Shadows for anything to help Paul. Just then,
a slight wind blew through the attic and flipped the book all the way to
the Binding Spell page.
"Binding Spell? Why would Grams
flip the pages to that?" Patty asked her mother, whom shrugged. She decided
that Grams knew best in these situations and decided to read the fine print
at the bottom of it because she didn't want to read the spell out loud.
"Here's why. ëWarning ? Witches take caution that if you bind your children's
powers and if they don't cast the spell to summon their powers within sixteen
years after the binder's dead at the exact time of their death, the powers
will emerge on their owní."
"Uh-oh," Prue said. "What? What's
wrong, Mom?" Andrew asked, not having a clue about what was going on. Phoebe
turned and looked at Patty and Andrew. "Cole died on November 16, 2003
at 8:45 in the evening," she said, remembering it all too well as she was
there. Andrew and Patty finally understood that in half an hour, Paul's
demon powers would emerge. "He will either have the power of energy balls
or shimmering," Prue told the teenagers.
Silence surrounded the room for
a few moments. "We have got to get him back and get through to him because
no son of mine is working for the Source," Phoebe said as she pushed her
way through Piper and Leo to get to the book to find something to help
him.
***
Paul stood by the altar, glaring
at all the interments on it while Dylan and his mother talked in the corner
as they observed Paul. "Unbelievable, but yet, truly remarkable. Belthazor
had a son and you've found him." "But who is Belthazor?" His mother smiled.
"Belthazor was the most powerful
demon before you were born. He was like any typical demon, but powerful.
He was able to kill the Triad, a group of higher level demons, find the
Charmed Ones and gain the youngest witch's trust. But unfortunately, he
fell in love with her and turned to the side of good. The Source sent demons
and bounty hunters after him to kill him for his betrayal, but none were
able to do their job. One time, Raynor of the Brotherhood was able to kill
the witch's love for him by casting a spell over him and having him kill
an innocent witch with his witch girlfriend looking on. Somehow, she was
able to turn him back to the side of good. Then, a demon found out that
they got married, but the second time he went back to kill him, he was
vanquished by the Charmed Ones. Sixteen years ago, just a few months after
you were born, the Source sent out his most powerful and trusted ally,
a demon named Lvies. He was able to tail Belthazor to the mausoleum, where
it was discovered he was meeting his witch years before. He told the Source
what happened and the Source told all the demons. Lives arrived there to
see Belthazor and his witch hiding there. He was able to knock out Belthazor
in his human form and fought with the witch for a while. He had beaten
her and had her wounded on the ground. He was about to move in for the
kill when Belthazor woke up and attacked Lvies. Lvies fought with him for
a while and then tossed him to the ground. He then glared at the frightened
witch. He threw a killer energy ball at her and Belthazor took the blow,
killing him. Before he could kill the witch, her sisters and a good warlock
ran in and Lvies knew he was outnumbered, so he came back here. Lvies didn't
know that Belthazor had a son before he died and neither did anyone else.
That witch must have raised him to be one." Dylan's eyes widened as he
got an idea.
"Mom, what if we were able to show
him the wonders of being evil? Have Paul embrace his demonic side?" His
mother mirrored his smile. "Yes. And I know just the thing."
***
Phoebe slammed the book in frustration.
"Nothing. There's nothing there." She sat down on the small couch they
had fixed in the attic. "Phoebe, we will come up with a plan to help Paul.
He will not be working for the Source," Prue said. Piper's eyes then lit
up with a slight idea. Leo saw this look and knew it well. "You have an
idea?" "Yes." All eyes in the room fell on her. Piper turned and looked
at her younger sister.
"We know that Paul is mad at me,
you, Prue, and Jason for knowing about Cole being a demon and not telling
him. He might not listen to any reason from any of us." "What about us?
I mean, Patty, Lucy, and I didn't know about this till today," Andrew interrupted.
"Well, I was thinking, remember when Phoebe was turned into a Banshee?"
Leo scoffed a little. "How could I forget?" He glanced over at Prue.
"You were a dog and kept barking
at me." Prue smiled, embarrassed. "Well, then you must remember how we
got Phoebe back to good." "You summoned Cole to find me and tell me he
loved me," Phoebe reminded them. "Well, what if we can get Cole to go to
Paul and talk to him, then maybe we don't have to worry about Paul turning
evil." "But how are we going to get Cole to come here? He's dead," Prue
pointed out. "Well, I think I could write a spell to summon him," Phoebe
said. "Okay. Let's get to it then," Leo said. Everyone got up and headed
downstairs.
***
Paul studied the candles surrounding
the altar. He knew that demons used tools to kill witches, but he didn't
know that some of the tools were so similar. "Are you all right?" Paul
turned around to see Dylan standing behind him.
"Yeah. It's justÖ for the 16 years
of my life, I've only known few things about my father ? what he looked
like, that he was an Assistant Distract Attorney, and that his name was
Cole Turner. Then yesterday and today, I find out that he was a demon and
my Mom, Aunts, and Uncles knew. They hid that from me. How could they do
something like that to me?" he asked, slightly angry. Dylan smiled. "Well,
I also know what it's like to not have a father. A witch vanquished him
when I was younger." Paul wasn't really listening.
***
Phoebe was in the kitchen, finishing
to write the spell to summon her husband. She just had to save her son,
she just had to. She and her sisters knew that they couldn't use the To
summon the Dead spell because none of them were blood related to Cole,
only Paul was. Phoebe looked up at the clock. It was 8:36. Patty came in
and hung up the phone. She had just called her sister, whom was watching
their little brother, to tell her what was happening. "So, how are Angel
and Lucy?" Phoebe asked, not looking up.
"Angel doesn't want to go to bed,
so he keeps orbing from room to room in the house." Phoebe gave a small,
quick smile. "Well, I think I'm just about finished. Go get everyone else,"
she told her niece as she quickly wrote the last line of the spell to bring
Cole back from the dead. Patty walked out of the room. Phoebe stood up
and began to light the candles. A few moments later, her sisters, Leo,
Andrew, and Patty walked into the room. "All right. I'm going to cast it,"
she informed. After that, she walked in front of her sisters. She took
a deep sigh to concentrate.
"Bring back my husband here
Who I love so dear
So you can help me save our son
And not allow him to have any evil
fun."
A small breeze blew through the
room. Then, a clutter a red specks circled a foot in front of Phoebe. A
few moments later, Cole appeared in front of Phoebe, looking exactly the
way he did the day he died. "Cole," Phoebe said. She ran to him and hugged
him. He hugged her back. "So that's Cole, huh?" Andrew asked his Mom. He
was around the same age as Paul when Cole had died. "Yes," Prue told her
son. The two lovers pulled apart from a kiss they had fallen into.
"Do you know what's happening?"
Piper asked. Cole nodded. "Paul found out that I was Belthazor and ran
out. Phoebe had a vision of him and another demon blinking into my old
hideout and you brought me back to try and get through to him." "Exactly."
"Wait, but how do you know?" Patty asked.
"Well, I've been looking over Paul
and Phoebe from where I've been over the past 16 years." "Oh." "So, what's
the plan now?" Prue asked. Phoebe touched a small picture of her son that
she always kept in her pocket. Suddenly, she fell into a very violent premonition.
She saw her son holding an athame late at night.
He smiled wickedly as he glared
at a frighten woman backed up against a tree. He then stabbed the woman.
She opened her eyes and fell backwards toward the ground. She let out a
light scream as she opened her eyes. Leo and Cole immediately ran to her
and caught her before she hit the ground hard. Andrew pulled out a chair
and Phoebe was set down on it.
"What is it? What did you
see?" Prue asked, kneeling down beside her youngest sister. She saw how
badly shaken she was and hadn't seen anything like this since she had a
vision of herself being burned at the stake. Phoebe just stared at her
hands, trying to make sense of what she had just seen.
"I just sawÖ one of my worst nightmares
coming true." Phoebe then looked up and looked around for Cole, who was
kneeling on the other side of her. She looked straight into his eyes. "I
saw Paul. He was evil. He had an athame in his hand and killed an innocent
woman."
"Not if we can help it," Prue said.
"The Source must be planning to turn him evil and have him kill an innocent
to make him evil forever," Cole observed. "But first we need a plan," Andrew
reminded them. Everyone thought for a moment. "Wait, I have an idea!" Patty
cried.
***
For the past twenty minutes, Paul
had been listening to Dylan talk about his Dad, making Paul glad that his
Dad was good. Suddenly, a small north spiritual wind blew in the room.
Paul looked around, wondering where it came from. Then, before he could
react, Dylan's Mom blinked in behind Paul and shot an energy ball at him,
knocking him unconscious. She smiled wickedly.
"Never trust a demon, witch," she
announced. She looked at her son. "The Source wants me to give him this,"
she told him, holding up a bottle of red liquid. Dylan smiled, knowing
that the liquid could turn any good being evil, but for Paul to be evil
forever, he had to kill an innocent.
Dylan turned Paul over on his back.
His Mom threw the lid off. "Open his mouth," she ordered. He did as she
said and then, she poured every drop of the liquid into his mouth. She
then set the bottle aside and smiled wickedly. All of a sudden, Cole and
Phoebe shimmered onto the scene behind the altar. Dylan and his Mom glared
up. Cole immediately spotted the woman and recognized her.
"Elyia," he addressed. She stood
up, not bothering to wipe the dust off her dress. "Belthazor," she said,
kind of in a questioning tone too. Phoebe ran to her son and kneeled down
beside him with a worried expression. She glared up at Elyia angrily. "What
did you do to him?" "Just helping him embrace his true self," Dylan said.
Phoebe glared at him angrily. She wished silently that she had Prue's power
to throw him to the other side of the room. Cole spotted the bottle by
Phoebe and quickly picked it up, examining it closely.
He saw a few drops of a liquid
he recognized all too well. He hurled it at a wall with all his anger,
shattering the glass to pieces. "It's Mylera, a potion that turns good
beings evil." Phoebe quickly jerked up at him, worried. "We have to get
him backÖ" "He's not going anywhere. The Source wants him," Elyia said.
"Screw the Source! You're not taking my son!" Cole roared.
He quickly fired an energy ball
at Elyia, knocking her to the ground and making her loose consciousness
before she even knew what hit her. Phoebe sprung up as did Dylan. He advanced
forward, about to attack Phoebe when suddenly, the twins orbed in behind
Dylan and Patty froze him. Their eyes widened when they saw Paul lying
on the ground.
They rushed to him. "What happened?"
Patty asked, concerned. "They gave him Mylera, what turns good evil," Cole
informed them. The twins jerked their heads up at him. "What?" they cried
in union. "We've got to get him back home," Phoebe said. Cole nodded.
He looked at the twins. "You two
orb back to the Manor. Tell the others what happened. I'll shimmer the
three of us into the attic," Cole informed. "All right Uncle Cole," Lucy
said. The two backed away a little. Lucy hugged her sister from behind
and the two quickly orbed out. Cole, knowing that Patty's freeze would
ware off soon, quickly hugged Phoebe and Paul and shimmered out.
***
Piper was pacing back and forth
inside the conservatory while Prue and Andrew sat on the wickered couch.
Leo had taken over for Lucy in watching little Angel. Piper checked her
watch a second time. Suddenly, someone orbed into the room by the table.
Piper turned around and saw that it was her daughters. "Is everything all
right?" Prue immediately asked.
The twins shook their heads in
union. "Uncle Cole told us that a demon gave Paul a drink of something
that turns someone good to evil." Everyone grew a shocked expression. "He
said he'd shimmer them into the attic." "Let's get going then," Prue said.
She led them all upstairs to the attic. Piper opened the door to see Cole
and her younger sister knelt around the old sofa, where a figure lay on
the bed.
They all rushed over to them to
discover that the figure was Paul, still unconscious. "Can I heal him?"
Patty asked, walking up behind Cole. He shook his head, not looking up.
"You can't remove Mylera magically. The only thing we can do is pray that
he can remember how it feels to love someone and remember the good he's
done." Piper stared down at her nephew. This was one of the scariest moments
of her life.
***
The warn feeling of the sun
crept onto Phoebe's sleeping face. She was sleeping in a chair next to
Paul. She opened her eyes and looked around, hoping that the events that
had taken place the previous night were a dream. She looked around and
discovered it was reality. She glanced down at Paul. He was still out of
it. She then looked over at the Book of Shadows. She had checked it twice
the night before to see if there was anything that would help him.
Couldn't hurt to check again, she
thought. She quickly went over to it and opened it. She flipped through
the pages, trying to find some spell to remove the evil from him. She didn't
care what Cole had said the night before about magic not being able to
remove it. She had already lost her Mom, Grams, and the love of her life.
She wasn't going to lose her only child too.
She had only flipped through a
couple of pages when suddenly, she heard a slight moaning sound. She jolted
her head up to see Paul beginning to stir about. "Paul," she quietly said.
She quickly rushed over to him. "Paul honey, are you all right?" He opened
his eyes as he slowly sat up. He glared at his mother, showing her the
red eyes that had replaced his brown eyes. Phoebe stood up and slowly backed
up, knowing that her son had been turned evil.
He stood up. Phoebe felt angry,
frightened, and afraid all at once. "I'm fine." He then exited the attic
down the stairs. "Where are you going?" Phoebe asked, following him. "Just
out!" "Wait. I know what's happening to you," she said. Paul stopped and
turned around, glaring at his mother. "You do?" "Yes. I'm your Mother.
I knowÖ" "What's best for me? You thought it was best for me not to know
that my own father was a demon?!" Paul asked, raising his voice a little.
Phoebe hated it when he did this. "Listen, both your Dad and I thought
we were doing what we thought was best for you. Neither he nor I want you
to be evil. IÖ" "Know how I feel? No you don't. You knew that Grandpa was
human!"
"But I didn't know that your Grandmother
was a witch or that Grams was one either and they hid that from us to protect
us." "Yeah, but remember when I asked if Dad was something supernatural
and you said no. You lied to me!"
"We did what we thought was best
for you," an unfamiliar male voice said from behind Paul. He whirled around
to see Cole step out of his room. "Dad? But how?" "Your Mom brought me
back, to explain to you that what we did was for your own good," Cole said
as he walked up to his son.
"Not letting me know the truth
about my family was good for me?" "In this case, yes. It's the same case
with your great-grandmother not telling your Mom and Aunts that they were
witches when they were younger. It was for their protection." Paul scoffed.
"Some protection," he muttered.
Suddenly, he shimmered out of the
room. Phoebe gasped. "Elyia must have told him about my powers and he must
have decided to try it out now." Phoebe's sight wondered down to the ground
as she found it hard to believe what just happened. She had had fights
with Paul before, but never something like this. "The things he said, IÖ
I can't believe he would say stuff like that," she said, glaring up at
Cole sadly. "It's the Mylera, not him. It's working its way around his
body. If we don't go to him and stop him, the Mylera will reach all the
way to his heart, mind, and soul and take over the son we knew."
"How long does Mylera take to take
over a person completely?" Phoebe asked. Cole walked closer. "Eighty years
ago, I used it on a witch because she was to powerful for me to kill. It
took her forty-eight hours to completely turn evil and kill someone. But
she wasn't half demon. It may take half the time for the Mylera to work
on Paul. Before the hours were up, the Mylera makes them hurt anyone that
got in their way." "But what are we going to do to get him back?"
Cole thought for a moment. "Do
you have your cell phone?" "It's in my room on my dresser. Why?" Cole talked
as he walked down the hall and into Phoebe's room. "I can probably tail
him. All I have to do is think about him. Is the number of the Manor the
same as before?" he asked as he went into Phoebe's room and grabbed the
cell phone off the desk.
"Yeah." "Okay. I'd like you to
go downstairs and call your sisters over here to hang out a little. I'll
go to Paul and try to get through to him. I'll call you four times every
hour and let you know what's going on." "Okay." The two then shared a short
passionate kiss. "Bring him back to me." "I will. We won't lose our son,"
Cole promised. He then shimmered out.
***
Prue had just woken up and walked
downstairs when suddenly, the phone rang. Prue walked over to the table
where the phone rested and answered it. "Hello?" "Prue, it's me. Phoebe
called. She needs us over at the Manor," Piper said from the other line.
"All right. I'll be there in a sec," she said. She hung up. Jason then
walked in from the kitchen. He darted his brown eyes at his wife.
Prue looked at him. "I have to
go over to Phoebe's. She needs me and Piper over there." "All right." "I'll
call if there's any trouble," she said. Before Jason could say anything,
Prue blinked away.
***
Piper quickly rushed across the
street and opened the door to the Manor, not even bothering to knock. She
closed the door after she entered. "Prue! Phoebe!" "In here!" Prue called
from the conservatory. Piper raced in to find both her sisters seated on
the couch. She then saw the sad look on Phoebe's face. "What happened?
What's wrong?" "That's what I want to know," Prue said. Both sisters looked
at Phoebe. She looked up and cleared her throat.
"Paul woke up a couple minutes
ago. He yelled at me for not telling him about Cole and then shimmered
out, but Cole went after him. He took my cell phone."
***
Cole shimmered into the forest
and saw Paul walking through it a couple of feet ahead of him. "Paul!"
His son stopped and turned around, looking annoyed. "You have to believe
that we only did what we thought was best for you. That power comes from
evil and it may have turned you evil if the Mylera didn't get to you first.
Mylera is the potion that Elyia gave you to turn you evil, and you had
no right to yell at your mother the way you did."
"I'm not listening to a lecture,"
Paul scoffed. He then shimmered away.
***
Phoebe came back into the conservatory
from the hall after talking to Cole. "Paul shimmered away from him," she
informed her sisters, who sat on the wickered couch. Prue stood up and
walked over to her youngest sister. She gave her a hug from behind. "Sweetie,
we will find him. I promise that by this time next week, you and Paul will
be going about your everyday stuff." "I hope you're right," Phoebe said,
sounding sad. She then walked over to the couch and sat down beside Piper.
"It's just thatÖ I don't want to
lose him too. I mean, first Mom, then Grams, then Cole. I justÖ I don't
think I can handle losing my son too." "You won't have to, Pheebs. We will
not lose Paul to the Source," Piper said, trying to cheer her sister up.
All three sisters glared at each other, all three determined to keep the
Source's plan far away from Paul.
***
Paul shimmered into an alley in
downtown San Francisco. Anger toward his parents rose higher inside of
him. They thought not telling me I was half demon was for my own good?
Yeah right, he thought as he walked up to a building and looked up. He
smiled evilly, thinking he could try out the power he had just received
from his Mom a week ago. He found out that his Mom had the same power a
couple of months after she found out she was a witch when the Woogyman
gave it to her, but Paul had received it when he was good. He casually
walked into the building.
***
In the Wyatt house, Lucy walked
downstairs in her white sweater shirt, blue jeans, and black boots to find
her Dad having breakfast with her brother, who was bringing a bit of pancake
to his mouth in a sloppy manner. Her Dad hung up the cordless phone. "Who
was that?" Lucy asked as she went into the kitchen to grab a glass, not
even bothering to say good morning. "Well good morning to you too," Leo
joked. She gave him a slightly annoyed smile. He smiled back.
"That was your Mom. Sheís over
at the Manor," Leo answered. "What happened?" she asked, sensing something
wrong as she took the container of orange juice out. "Well, Paul woke up,
yelled at Phoebe, and then shimmered away, which is kind of like orbing
away, except fading into the background. Cole has that power too. Paul
still won't listen to reason."
Lucy came back and took a sip of
her orange juice. Leo glared up at his eldest daughter. He knew what she
was thinking. "Look Luce, I don't want you or Patty to go after Paul. He's
dangerous now. There's no telling what he might do."
***
Patty had just changed into a purple
long sleeved shirt, white jeans, and tennis shoes when all of a sudden,
a knock came on the door. She looked up as she finished tying her shoes.
"Come in." Lucy opened the door and came in, closing the door behind her.
"Paul woke up and ran away, or should I say shimmer away, which is like
blinking, but fading into the background." "He did?" Patty asked in slight
disbelief as Lucy sat down next to her. Lucy nodded.
"And Mom's at the Manor with Aunt
Prue, comforting Aunt Phoebe. Dad doesn't want us to go after him because
he thinks Paul's dangerous," she informed, making a quote gesture. "Paul?
Dangerous? I've known him for his whole life and there are plenty of words
to describe him, but dangerous? Against us?" Patty asked as she put a bandanna
in her slightly wavy hair. "Well, I haven't known him that long, but I
can't just sit back and let the adults handle this." "Neither can I. We're
eighteen. We should do something." "But what?" Lucy asked. The two sisters
sat there, pondering for a while.
***
Prue, Piper, and Phoebe found themselves
making some breakfast for themselves at the same time. They had turned
on the radio onto a station that played their favorite music from when
they were in High School. The song Walking on Sunshine played. Piper lipsank
to the song as she flipped the pancake over. Prue put her third egg on
the plate as she also lipsang and swayed her body to the music. Phoebe
just emotionlessly cooked the bacon.
As they sat down to eat, the phone
rang. Phoebe jumped up and raced to pick it up. "Cole?" "No. It's Leo.
I need to talk to Piper for a minute." "Oh. Sure," Phoebe said. She looked
at her sisters as she took the phone away from her ear. "Piper, it's Leo."
The middle sister stood up and took the phone away as Phoebe went to sit
back down. "Hey." "Hi. Look, the girls are missing." "What?" Piper asked,
looking frightened. "Yeah. I just checked all over the house. I think they
went after Paul to try to help him."
"Well, they definitely have your
impatience for waiting when someone's in trouble." "Yeah. Look, I was going
to orb over there with Angel. Can you watch him while I go get the girls?"
"Uh, yeah. Of course." "All right. See you in a minute."
They both hung up. Piper turned
to her sisters. "The girls left to look for Paul." "And Lucy can orb herself
and Patty to where he is just by thinking about him," Phoebe realized.
"And with the Mylera in him, there's no telling what he'll do," Prue observed.
Piper turned to Phoebe. "You've gotta call Cole and tellÖ" Before she could
finish, the phone rang and Leo orbed in with the little brown haired boy
beside him.
Piper handed Phoebe the phone,
which she still had in her hands. Phoebe answered it and walked aside.
"Mommy!" Angel exclaimed. Piper smiled and bent down. Her son flew into
her arms. She picked him back up. "Morning sweetie." Leo gave her a light
kiss on the lips. He then turned to his son and gave him gave him a small
kiss on the cheek. "Well, I'm going to find your sisters. You be good,"
he told him.
The little boy looked at Phoebe's
plate and pointed at it happily as he played with his little action figure
from a television show he liked to watch. "Yummy! Pancakes!" "Come on.
You just had two whole ones ten minutes ago," Leo complained a little.
"I know, but I still hungry." "I'll find a little something for him to
snack on," Piper told him. He smiled and then orbed out.
Phoebe put the phone down on the
counter. "Of all the obvious places in the world. Take a wild guess where
Paul is," Phoebe said after she gave Angel a quick smile. Prue and Piper
both knew.
***
Patty and Lucy orbed into a stall
at one of the deserted bathrooms inside the building where Paul was. They
got out and looked around to find nobody else there. "You orbed us into
a bathroom stall?" Patty asked, looking at her sister. "I just taught of
a secured place near where Paul is, so let's go out and look around," Lucy
said, throwing some of her straight strawberry blonde hair over her shoulder.
They quickly walked out of the girlsí bathroom and found themselves at
a skating park. Patty cast a look, like she had just found the answer to
a question, an answer that was so obvious.
"Of course! Paul always comes to
a skating park to skate on his skateboard when he has to take some things
off his mind." "And there he is!" Lucy exclaimed to her sister as she pointed
to where their cousin was. They ran over to a bar that kept them out of
the skatersí way. Paul was doing some of the tricks he had learned from
his friends on his skateboard. "Why don't you freeze the place?" Lucy asked.
"Two reasons. A) Paul might freeze and B) Someone might see."
"Or someone might spot you before
you even try," a familiar voice behind them said. The twins spun around
together to see Paul's Dad standing there. "What are you two doing here?"
"We're here to help," Lucy announced without hesitation. "You two should
go back home." "Uncle Cole, we're eighteen. We're powerful wiÖ" "Women,"
Patty interrupted, before her sister carelessly said witches.
"You're also teenagers in trouble,"
another familiar voice said as he emerged from the crowd. They turned around
to see their father coming up to them. "Dad, I've know Paul for his entire
life. I've lived with him for 10 years. And I can't just sit back at home
and hope everything turns out for the best. I have to do something to help,"
Patty explained. "The last part goes for me too," Lucy announced. Leo sighed.
He gave Cole a questionable look.
***
Andrew rolled over in his bed.
He opened his eyes a little and looked at the clock. The last time he checked
it, it was midnight. Now, it was 10 to 11. He had been asleep for a little
over 10 hours. He quickly jumped out of bed, got dressed, and raced downstairs,
bumping into his Dad. "Wow. Where's the demon?" "Oh. I just wanted to go
over to the Manor and see how Paul's doing." Jason sighed. He put his hand
on his son's shoulder. "Andrew, why don't you and I go to the living room
and have a seat, shall we?"
Andrew followed his father into
the living room and sat down on the couch next to his Dad. He saw the worried
look on his father's eyes. "What's wrong?" he asked, concerned. He took
a quick look around. "Where's Mom and Jo?" "Your Mom is with Aunt Piper
and Aunt Phoebe over at the Manor. Jo is out back with her friend Emily."
"Then what's wrong? I can see that something's wrong."
Jason sighed. "WellÖ" he began.
He explained what happened with Paul. Prue had called him and told him
that the twins had gone off after him too. "And I don't want you or Jo
to go after him. Cole can handle it." Andrew sighed, not really planning
on promising his Dad anything.
***
Piper took a peek into Phoebe's
old room, which was now Paul's room. She spotted her younger sister sitting
Indian style near the back of the bed with her back against the wall and
a photo album in her lap. "Phoebe?" Her little sister's head jerked up.
"What are you doing?" Piper asked, leaning in the doorway. Phoebe immediately
closed the photo album and set it aside. "I was just, uh, looking through
some photos." Piper sat beside her and picked up the photo album.
It was the photo album that Phoebe
and her sisters had filled with photos of Paul since they first took his
picture. She gave out a small sigh and a half frown, half smile. "Phoebe,
what's wrong with you?" she asked, still staring at the photo album. "You
mean besides the fact that the Source has turned my own son against me?"
Piper looked up. "I mean why have you lost your confidence? This is the
first time I've seen you without confidence during a fiÖ I mean, a timeÖ
I meanÖ"
"Save it. I know what you mean.
But that's just it. It's the first time that the evil I have to fight is
within my own flesh and blood." "Uh, no it isn't. Remember when the Fear
Demon turned Prue against us and when I was possessed by thatÖ blue smoke?"
"That's different." Phoebe looked up and looked her sister straight in
the eyes. "You and Prue are my sisters. Paul's my son." She let out a sigh.
"This is the first time that his
father's past has caught up with him." Well, we knew this time would come
sooner or later, Piper thought, not wanting to say it out loud. She pulled
Phoebe into a small hug. "EverythingÖ" "Will be fine? You and Prue have
told me that so many times, but IÖ. Wait a minute. Where is Prue?" she
asked, looking around, trying to change the subject. "Downstairs, watching
cartoons with Angel. Now don't tip-toe around the subject. Why have you
lost your confidence in this?"
Phoebe let out a small sigh as
she stared down at the photo album. "I'm justÖ I'm so afraid that my vision
will come true. And what he said to me earlier." Piper gave her a questionable
look. "He was so pissed off at me. I've never seen him that angry when
it wasn't acting." Piper saw that her sister was slowly breaking out into
tears. She sat closer to her sister and hugged her. Phoebe started to bawl
out. "Hey," a voice said from the doorway. Piper and Phoebe looked up to
see Prue leaning against the doorway. "Hey. Is everything all right downstairs?"
"Yeah. Except I lost Angel in a Bugs Bunny movie," she said as she walked
into the room. She sat down and looked Phoebe straight in the eye. "Phoebe,
you've got to pull yourself together. We have to help Paul remember what
it's like to be good."
***
Andrew sat at the dinning room
in his house, picking at the lasagna his father made for him, his sister,
and her friend for lunch. Just then, his Dad came in from the kitchen,
putting his coat on. "I've got to head into work for a couple hours." He
went over to Andrew. "Don't go after Paul," he whispered into his ear.
He then gave his daughter a kiss on the forehead. "Be good." She gave him
a small smile and he headed out. Andrew finished his lunch quickly and
then decided that he would join the twins and disobey his parentsí wishes.
He decided to go off to help Paul, whom was like a brother to him.
"Where are you going?" Jo asked,
looking up from a stack of magazines that she and Emily had piled on the
dinning room table. Andrew put on his football jacket. "Uh, I'm going to
go to the park and throw the football around with some of the guys," he
lied. Jo gave a look that said you heard Dad. "I'll be back in a couple
hours," he informed. He headed out the door and ran to the bus stop on
the corner of the street to hop the bus that would take him to Wheels &
Ramps, a skating park that he and his cousin had gone to for the past 5
years.
***
After forty-five minutes of skating,
Paul decided to turn his skateboard in for the day. He was about to head
towards the exit when he looked and saw Patty heading toward her. He quickly
scouted around for an exit, but it was too crowded. And Paul didn't want
to draw any attention by shimmering away. "Paul. I need to talk to you,"
Patty said as she reached her cousin. "Later." He tried to move around
her, but she stepped in front of him, blocking his way. "No. Not later.
We need to talk now." "I said laÖ" Paul stopped when he touched Patty's
shoulder and was thrown into a premonition.
He saw himself sitting on the porch
steps of his Grandpa's house, waiting for him as he and the twins laughed
at a joke. He then saw himself lying on the ground in pain after a demon
attack and saw Patty heal him. He opened his eyes, remembering that the
vision he just had happened a month ago. Why would I be shown this? Paul
asked himself. "What did you see?" Paul quickly spotted an opening and
raced away. "Paul!" his cousin cried, but Paul fled the park.
***
Prue walked downstairs and saw
her youngest nephew still gazing at the cartoon displayed on the television
set. She smiled. He didn't have to worry about vanquishing evil just yet.
Just then, a crash boomed from the attic. "Prue! Piper!" Prue raced upstairs,
where she joined her sisters. There, in the middle of the attic, was a
young man with short dark brown hair. "That's one of the demons that helped
turn Paul evil," Phoebe announced to her sisters. The demon smiled. "Name's
Dylan. And I'm glad that Paul is evil. In a few hours, he'll be evil forever,
and there's not a damn thing you can do to stop it."
"Obviously you don't know us very
well," Prue said with a smart-alec attitude she almost always used. Dylan
scoffed. "Please!" He threw his hand towards them, throwing an energy ball
towards the sisters. Piper threw up her hands and instantly froze the energy
ball and Dylan. "What do you say we send it back to him and vanquish him?"
"I'm with you there. This guy has gotten on my last nerve," Phoebe said.
"Same with me," Piper agreed. Prue smiled and swatted her hand at the energy
ball, telekinetically sending it flying into Dylan. He unfroze and let
out a scream before he exploded into nothingness. "Any demon that comes
across me right now will be vanquished," Phoebe said angrily.
***
Patty, Lucy, and Cole raced into
an alley, following Paul. Leo had decided to orb back to his wife and talk
to her about their stubborn daughters. As they arrived in the narrow alley,
they saw Paul shimmer away. Lucy immediately hugged her sister and they
orbed out. Cole immediately followed. The three disappeared into the woods.
They saw Paul and decided to follow.
***
Paul walked out of the woods to
find himself near the camp sight he and his family used to camp at when
he was younger. He loved playing near the basketball court there. There
was always a stray basketball there. As he walked towards the court, he
nearly missed being bombarded by a football. "Heads up!" someone yelled.
Paul moved aside just in time to see a football land on a patch of leafy
ground. "Hey Paul!" Paul looked up and saw Frank Peterson, one of the football
players at Baker High School, run up to him.
He bent down and picked up the
football. "Sorry. Didn't see you." "Frank! Toss it over!" another football
player yelled. Paul saw that it was David Lyton, the guy that always teased
Paul for little things since the two were in fourth grade. David didn't
see Paul. Frank smiled. "Catch ya later!" He headed back towards his friends.
Paul watched on evilly.
***
Andrew raced out of Wheels &
Ramps. He had checked around and hadn't seen any of his cousins. His friend
whom worked there, Tim, had told him that Paul left ten minutes ago and
so had the twins. Andrew wondered over to a bench near another store. He
had to sit down to think. "Where else would he go?" he muttered to himself.
He knew his powers wouldn't help him to locate his cousin. Maybe with dumb
luck, Paul will appear near here, he thought.
He glanced around and did a double
take when he saw Paul walk out of an alley and towards a dangerous part
of town. Andrew waited for a moment, expecting to see the twins or Cole
come out of the alley. But two minutes had passed and nobody emerged from
the alley. Andrew got up and decided to follow Paul at a short distance.
Once, he saw Paul about to turn
around and quickly ducked into nearby store ? a bookstore. He looked out
about ten seconds later and saw Paul leave. Andrew quickly and quietly
followed him.
***
"You let them go?" Piper asked
as she sat next to her husband on the couch. Her son was sitting in front
of the huge wide screen television, watching an action cartoon. "Well technically,
they're right. They're almost adults. You and I both know how many demons
and warlocks they've vanquished in the past four years together. They're
becoming fine young ladies." Piper gave him a slight smile that quickly
disappeared. "I justÖ I don't want to lose them," she admitted, putting
her head on Leo's shoulder.
He gave her a hug. "We're not gonna
lose them," he assured her. Suddenly, Angel raced over to his parents.
He loved hugs, almost as much as cartoons. Piper and Leo looked at him
with smiles on their faces. "You want a hug too, don't ya?" Piper asked
her son. He nodded happily. His parents smiled and made a three-way hug
with him.
***
Prue and Phoebe stood by their
Book of Shadows, looking for information on the demon they had killed 20
minutes ago. Just as they got half-way through the book, Jo astral projected
into the attic. "Jo, honey. What are you doing here?" "Andrew went to help
Paul," Jo blurted out. "What?" Phoebe asked. "Dad told him not to before
he left for the magazine. Andrew lied to me and told me he was going to
the park to throw the ball around with his friends."
"How do you know he was lying?"
Prue asked her daughter. "Mom, this is Andrew we're talking about. Would
he rather throw around a football with his friends or help a cousin in
trouble?" "He'd help a cousin in trouble," Prue said, looking at Phoebe.
"Look, I know what you're thinking, but my son would never hurt any of
yours or Piper's kids," Phoebe protested, slightly turning away. "The Mylera
may change that." Phoebe sighed and walked over to where a couple framed
photographs rested on a slightly crocked table. She was angry that her
sisters would think that her own son would kill someone related to him.
She picked up a copy of Paul's
sophomore yearbook photo. She showed it to her eldest sister. "Does this
look likeÖ" Phoebe was stopped by a premonition. She saw a young man around
the same age as her son walk into a woodsy area to retrieve something when
Paul came up from behind him and hit him in the back of the head with the
end of a gun he held in his hand. Paul then turned him around and aimed
the gun at the guy's heart.
As Phoebe came out of the premonition,
she dropped the photo onto the ground. "Phoebe, what did you see?" Prue
asked, walking over to her sister. So did her daughter. Phoebe told the
two about the vision. "Why would Paul kill a member of Andrew's football
team?" "Wait a minute," Jo said. She headed out of the attic and to the
study/guest room (Piper's old room before she married Leo) and picked up
last year's yearbook and slammed it on the desk as her Aunt Phoebe and
Mom joined her.
She flipped it open to the freshman
section. She knew exactly who she was looking for and pointed to it. "Is
this him?" Phoebe looked closely at the photo, examining it. "Yeah," she
said, looking at her niece for a moment, then stood back up. "It's David
Lyton. He's been picking on Paul since fourth grade for the littlest things.
Now this year, he's picking on Paul for not making the football team when
Andrew did." "So now Paul's gonna want to end the teasing," Prue realized.
She glared at her sister. "Did
you recognize the woods?" "Uh, yeah. It's Stryant Forest, where we went
camping." "Well, I have to go." "Don't make a mess and no magic around
Emily unless necessary," Prue said. Jo nodded and astral projected out.
***
Patty and Lucy looked around the
unfamiliar street. They looked around. It looked like a summer place. Most
people wore shirts, shorts, and sandals. "Did Paul shimmer to a tropical
island?" Lucy asked. Patty's eyes widened when she saw a sign that read
WELCOME TO THE BAHAMAS. "I'll say." She painted at the sign. Cole and Lucy
gazed over and grew the same expressions. Just then, the cell phone Cole
had been carrying rang. "Hello?" he answered.
"The operator told me that it's
4:22 where you are and it's only almost 1:30 here," Phoebe said form the
other line. "Paul shimmered here to the Bahamas, but we've been looking
around for the past ten minutes and we haven't seen him." Lucy then realized
something. "He tricked us," she told them. "What?" Patty asked. "He knew
we were following him, so he shimmered here and used his new power he got
2 weeks ago on us. He made us see him run out of that alley."
Cole quickly told Phoebe this.
She told him about the premonition she had. "We'll be there," Cole said.
He hung up. "Phoebe had a vision of Paul about to kill someone named David
Lyton. Do you know who he is?" "The bully this been picking on Paul since
the year before Lucy and I met." "Did Aunt Phoebe tell you where the vision
took place?" "Yeah. Stryant Forest." "That's where we went camping when
we were little," Patty said. "All right. Why don't we go there and wait
until he comes there so we don't risk Paul tricking us again," Cole said.
"Sounds good, but I'll go back
home to get some lunch for us." "And what about me? I don't have the power
to transport like you two." "I'll shimmer you to the forest," Cole said.
Patty nodded and they headed back towards the alley.
***
Andrew grew a worried, slightly
scared expression as he watched Paul go into a gun store. He watched in
disbelief as Paul picked out a small shotgun and walked over to the cashier.
He's probably making him see him older and paying him enough money, Andrew
thought. He quickly ducked into the nearest store, a small flower shop,
when he saw Paul leave the store across the street. When he saw Paul go
into an alley, he quickly raced out without being too obvious. When he
reached the alley, he saw Paul shimmer away.
***
Paul shimmered into the kitchen
of his home. It was deserted. He need something to eat. He opened the cupboard
and saw a bag of his favorite chips. He suddenly heard footsteps coming
towards him and turn around just in time to see his Aunt Piper and Uncle
Leo enter the kitchen cautiously. "Paul. Please stop for a moment and listen
to us," Piper ordered calmly. Paul sighed angrily.
"Can't a guy get something to eat
without lecture?" "In this case, no. We're your family and we want to help
you. But we can't help you unless you allow us to," Leo told his nephew.
"I don't need any help. For the first time in my life, I'm free. Now you
guys and the rest of the family better stay out of my way." He grabbed
the bag of chips out of the cupboard and shimmered away.
***
Lucy had just finished making some
sandwiches and put them in a bag along with some sport bottles of juice
when all of a sudden, she heard a familiar voice call her name, but the
voice seemed far away. "Lucy." She hesitated for a moment, then recognized
the voice of her cousin Andrew. She sighed as she orbed out. She then orbed
into an alley crowded with dumpsters and boxes. She saw her cousin in front
of her with his back towards her.
"Andrew. What are you doing here?"
Her cousin turned around. "What do you think?" Lucy sighed. "Can't be left
out, can ya?" "Nope. I figure I'd check at Wheels & Ramps, but my friend
Tim told me you guys left ten minutes before I came and then I saw Paul."
"What did he do?" "He used his mind manipulation power on some guy and
bought a gun."
Lucyís eyes widened in fear. "That's
why he had that gun in that vision," she murmured. "What vision?" Lucy
looked back up at her cousin. "Aunt Phoebe had a vision of Paul about to
shoot David Lyton in Stryant forest at night." Andrew's eyes widened in
slight fear too. He wasn't exactly buds with David, but he wasn't mortal
rivals with him either.
"Paul would never kill someone."
"Mylera has never been in him before," she replied. She then thought for
a moment. "How ëbout coming with me to Stryant forest? Paul's supposed
to be there in a couple hours." "Sure," Andrew said without hesitation.
He then hugged his cousin and she orbed them out.
***
Piper walked upstairs to tell her
sisters what just happened and as she landed on the second floor, she bumped
right into Prue, sending them both crashing to the ground. Prue got up
quickly and helped her sister up. "Sorry. I didn'tÖ" "Don't worry about
that. Same with me," Prue said. "Well, something happened downstairs."
"Something happened while Phoebe and I were in the attic too. Jo astraled
in and told us that Andrew has also joined the ëHelp Paulí team and Phoebe
had a vision of Paul about to kill some bully that's been bugging him for
the past 6 years named David Lyton."
"Speaking of Paul, he shimmered
into the kitchen and warned Leo and I to tell the rest of the family to
stay out of his way," Piper informed. "Where is he now?" "Shimmered out
again. He could be anywhere," Piper scouted around the hallway, noticing
that Phoebe was not with Prue. "Hey, where's our little sister?" "Taking
a nap in her room. I finally convinced her to take a rest and we'd let
her know if something comes up."
Piper took a deep sigh. She then
got an idea and showed it in her face. "What? What is it?" Prue asked.
"I was just thinking, you know how Paul is mad at Phoebe for not telling
him about being part demon, right?" "Right?" her eldest sister asked, not
quite getting at what her sister was poking at. "Well, what if we stop
Paul from shimmering away for a few minutes and he tells Phoebe how he's
feeling and she tells him truthfully the answers and what she's feeling.
Remember what Cole said? Paul has to remember how it feels to love someone
and remember the good he's done," Piper reminded her.
"Well how do we do that?" Prue
asked. Piper thought deep for a moment. "I think I know a way," she told
her sister.

Phoebe cautiously looked around
Stryant forest, but the mist had thickened and she could only see four
yards in front of her. "Paul?" she asked into the air. "Mom?" a young voice
echoed back. Phoebe glared up. Out of the mist, a young boy walked out.
Phoebe gasped as she recognized the young boy who had dark brown hair.
It was her son at twelve-years-old. "Paul?"
"What's wrong Mom?" he asked as
he approached Phoebe. "Are you okay?" "No," he said, keeping a blank face.
"What? Are you hurt?" "It's not like that. You lied to me," he told her,
his voice changing into his deep, sixteen-year-old voice. In front of Phoebe's
own eyes, Paul shape shifted into his sixteen-year-old self. "Why didn't
you tell me?"
"I already explainedÖ" "It wasn't
just for my own good." "Sweetie, if I had the chance to go back in time,
I'd go back six years ago to the first time you asked me and tell you the
truth." "You can't cast a spell for personal gain. It's too late for that,"
Paul told her. He shoved her onto the ground and pulled out a small shotgun.
"No Paul. Please, put the gun down."
Paul just gave her an evil grin.
Suddenly, David came and bent down to pick up a football. Paul pointed
the shotgun at David and watched him stand up. His eyes widened when he
saw Paul with the gun. The trigger was pulled and David fell to the ground,
dead. "NOOOOOO!!" she hollered at the top of her lungs.

In the living room of the Manor,
Leo tossed Angel the blue ball and saw his son smile as he caught it. Prue
and Piper smiled as they watched the little boy happily throw the ball
back to his Dad. "NOOOOOO!!" Leo, Prue, and Piper glared up towards Phoebe's
scream. The three of them raced upstairs and into Phoebe's room to find
her tossing and turning in bed. Her sisters went over to her and stared
shaking her, trying to wake her up. "Phoebe, wake up," they told her.
Two minutes later, the youngest
sister awoke and sat up with a jolt. "Wow. Easy," Piper told her. "Are
you okay?" Phoebe breathed a sigh of relief. "It was just a dream," she
announced with a sigh. "Why don't you tell us about it?" Leo suggested
as he pulled up a chair from Phoebe's dresser and sat in it. Phoebe told
the three about her dream.
"Well, you don't have to worry
anymore because Piper and I have come up with a plan to get Paul back on
the good side, but we need your help," Prue told her youngest sister. "How?"
Piper explained her plan to Leo and Phoebe. "I never thought of that."
"That might actually work," Leo said. They then heard little footsteps
come to the door. Leo cautiously walked to the door and looked out.
He glared down to see his son walking
towards him, trying to carry his favorite blue ball. "Can we still play
Daddy?" Leo let out a light laugh. He then peeked his head back in. "I'm
going to take Angel back home to play." "I'll let you know if anything
happens," Piper told him. He smiled and led his son to the front door.
***
"Please tell me your sister isn't
planning on joining this little party?" Cole asked Andrew. The two of them
were with the twins in Stryant forest. "No. She has a friend over." Cole
let out a sigh of relief. In this case, ëthe more the merrierí wasn't such
a good idea. He knew that Paul's family loved him, but right now, there
was no telling what his son would do.
Patty wiped her hands on a napkin
that Lucy had brought with her and stood up off the ground. "Well, are
we gonna wait around here for four hours?" "You're right. Maybe 3 of us
should look around in case he's already here and the other one stay here
in case he arrives early," Lucy suggested as she stood up too. "That's
a good idea," Andrew commented.
"Yeah. I'll stay. Something about
before tells me that I kinda got through to him. I think he got a premonition
when he touched me," Patty said. "All right. How about you two check near
the camping area and I'll check over here," Cole said, pointing towards
the opposite direction of the camping area. "All right." Cole, Lucy, and
Andrew went their separate ways.
***
None of them knew that at that
moment, Paul sat at a picnic table at the park where he had met Dylan the
previous night. He had just finished his lunch and was looking over a picture
of the football team. He glared over the picture of brown haired David
Lyton. "No more teasing or bullying. It ends tonight," he vowed quietly.
His fingers than wondered over to where his cousin Andrew was in the picture.
As soon as his fingers touched the photographed face of Andrew, he fell
into his second premonition that day. He saw himself and Andrew helping
a girl off the ground before vanquishing a demon with a spell.
Paul opened his eyes, wondering
what was with the wacky premonitions he'd been getting. He decided to do
what he did with the other one and brushed it out of his mind for now.
***
Andrew and Lucy arrived at the
field near the campsite to find most of the football players there, tossing
the football around. One of them, Brian Smith, immediately noticed his
friend. "Hey Ands!" he called. Andrew's nickname among the football team
was Ands. "You come to throw the ball around?" another asked. "No. Can't.
I'm busy." "Family business again?" Brian asked.
Andrew gave a slight nod. "Come
on. He isn't here in the field, so let's go," Lucy told her cousin quietly.
He nodded at her. When they turned to leave, David rushed up to Lucy. "Hey
honey, have you reconsidered my dating offer?" Lucy rolled her eyes. She
and her sister couldn't stand David Lyton.
"A couple things. 1) My name is
ëLucyí, not honey. 2) I don't date rude guys. 3) I especially don't date
guys who bully my cousin around. 4) The answer will always be no. Now if
you'll excuse us." Lucy and Andrew left to search some more.
***
Patty glared around, wondering
where Paul was. She felt very tense and a little scared. She gazed up to
the sky and heard a flock of birds crying as they flew south for the winter.
Patty reminded herself that Thanksgiving was next week. She smiled.
Suddenly, a twig snapped behind
her. Patty whirled around and saw Dylan's mother standing there, a few
yards in front of her, wearing a black cloth with the hood off. Her short,
light brown hair had been thrown over her shoulders. "Where's my son?"
she asked, bitterly and angrily. "I don't know," Patty honestly replied.
"You're lying witch!"
"I'm not. The last time I saw him
was yesterday," she replied, finding herself alone with a demon for the
first time in years. "You'll regret your lying." With that, she flicked
her hand toward Patty, sending an energy ball coming straight for her.
Patty immediately threw her hands
at the ball, freezing it just before it hit her. She jumped back, trying
to give herself some space. "Okay Patty, you can do this," she coached
herself. She studied the frozen demon in human form. She then thought of
a spell.
"Demon mother in my sight
I vanquish you with all my might
The daughter of a Charmed One I
be
And so I say farewell to thee."
Who ever knew English class could
pay off, she thought sarcastically. Dylan's mother unfroze and began screaming
as a blaze of fire engulfed her. She then vanished as did the energy ball.
Patty smiled at her work.

Phoebe walked slowly into Paul's
room (Phoebe's old room). Her sisters were downstairs, fixing lunch. A
double bed with white sheets, ocean blue pillows, and a light & dark
blue plaid blanket lay neatly in the same spot where Phoebe's bed had been
when this had been her room six years ago. A desk with a computer and stereo
on it sat near the window against the wall. A dresser with a small TV on
top sat directly in front of the bed. To the right side of the bed was
a sliding window closet door. The rest of the walls had a few posters of
Paul's favorite band and some of his favorite movies like Star Wars.
Phoebe's gaze drifted over to the
night stand, where a framed photo of herself and her son sat. Phoebe felt
cold tears fall from her eyes as she walked over to the night stand. She
carefully picked up the framed photo and traced it with her fingers.
It had been 3 days since she had
seen him smile like that. A knock came on the opened door behind her. Phoebe
didn't jump, nor did she acknowledge it. "Phoebe?" her eldest sister asked.
When she didn't answer, Prue walked up behind her. She saw the picture.
She then instantly knew how her sister felt. "I've never felt so defeated
Prue. What if this doesn't work?" Phoebe quizzed. "It will work. Paul will
not work for the Source." "But what if it doesn't?"
"Then we'll figure something out.
The Source can send demons and warlocks to try and kill us, and he can
kill our mother, but he's really overstepped the boundaries this time if
he thinks he can turn Paul against us forever and expect us to sit back
and take it. In the meantime, why don't you come downstairs and have lunch
with Piper and I? You can't help Paul on an empty stomach."
Phoebe let out a small laugh and
set the framed photo down. Prue led her out of the room.
***
Lucy and Andrew raced back to where
Patty was. "Anything?" Lucy asked her sister. She shook her head sadly.
"You?" "No. But we did find David. He's over at the field playing football
with the rest of the guys." "And that demon I froze last night's mother
came, demanding to know where her son is, but I vanquished her." "You vanquished
Elyia?" a voice asked behind them.
They turned around to see their
Uncle Cole approach them. "Yeah. I cast a spell and vanquished her." Cole
sighed. "Well, did any of you find Paul." "Nope." "He hasn't come here,"
Patty said. "He'll be here. According to Aunt Phoebe's premonition, he'll
be here," Lucy commented. None of them spoke for a moment. "Um, I forgot
to tell you guys something," Andrew spoke up.
***
None of them knew that at that
moment, Paul was in a desert at a shooting range. Two cans rested silently
on a wooden fence. Paul carefully aimed the gun and then pulled the trigger.
The can on the left flew right off the fence. Paul smiled and aimed for
the other can. It flew right off the fence and next to the other can after
he pulled the trigger. "Perfect aim," he told himself.

Phoebe took a small bite of her
grilled cheese sandwich. "Phoebe?" Piper asked. The youngest sister didn't
even bother looking up. "Phoebe?" Prue joined in. Phoebe finally looked
up at her two sisters. "You've got to be confident Pheebs. We are going
to win." Phoebe gave them a small smile, but then let if fade.
"I know. It's justÖ if only you
saw what I saw in those premonitions," she said as she took another bite
of the grilled cheese sandwich, finishing it. The elder Halliwells had
already finished theirs. "I'll do dishes," Piper said. She took her plate
along with her sistersí plates.
She walked over to the sink and
began washing the dishes. In the middle of it, Prue came over to her. "This
is really hard on our little sister." "Well yeah. The Source has tried
to kill us and the kids, but he's never turned one of the kids against
us. Paul working for evil is worse then him being killed by evil,"
Piper explained. "I will not allow that to happen. Nobody related to us
Halliwells will work for evil," Prue said, very confident. Piper smiled
as she thought of a joke.
"ColeÖ" "Worked for evil. The key
word is worked, but he gave up his life to save our sister from being killed."
Piper smiled as she finished washing the last dish and put it in the dishwasher.

"Want to go downstairs and check
out the music video channel?" Emily asked. She and Jo were sitting in Joís
room. They had just gone through every magazine that Jo owned, a lot of
them being 415 Magazine, since her Mom worked there. "Sure. You go ahead.
I'll go in the kitchen and grab some sodas." "Okay," Emily said without
hesitation.
The two girls walked downstairs
and Emily went into the living room. Jo stopped at the foot of the stairs
and her smile faded. She looked up towards the ceiling. "God, please help
my family to get Paul back to good. Please? I don't want to have to fight
against my cousin," she prayed, very quietly cause she didn't want Emily
to hear.
***
"You saw Paul go into a shop and
use his power to make a guy think he was of age to buy a gun and he actually
got one?" Patty asked. She couldn't believe it. "Yeah. That's what I saw.
My eyes weren't playing tricks. I swear." "That's why he had a gun in Aunt
Phoebe's premonition," Lucy realized. "Well, gun or no gun, we have to
turn Paul back as soon as possible. If we don't turn him back before his
first kill, he'll be lost in evil forever," Cole said.
"So if Paul kills David, he'll
be evil," Lucy said. She didn't like David at all. He was always trying
to hit on her or Patty. And he couldn't tell the two apart. "So we have
to save both Paul and David. Let's just hope we don't risk exposing ourselves,"
Andrew said. "I second that." "Third," Patty admitted.
***
Paul had been practicing his perfect
aim for an hour. He smiled as a bottle shattered onto the desert floor
below. While practicing, he decided to wait until it was dark enough for
him to go out and kill David.
An hour and a half later
The Halliwell sisters had decided
to try and pass time by playing the Game of Life. Phoebe looked at the
clock and saw that it was 4:30 in the afternoon, and the sun set right
about 5. "I'm not waiting anymore. It's time for us to go," Phoebe said.
"PhoebeÖ" "Please don't even say it Prue. The sun sets in half-an-hour,
and it takes 25 minutes to drive up to Stryant forest."
The two elder Halliwell sisters
looked at each other for a moment. They then looked at their sister. "All
right, Phoebe. Let's go get Paul back. We'll take my car," Piper said as
she and Prue hurriedly cleaned up the game. "The Source won't win this
time," Prue said confidently. They went to get their coats and put them
on. "The Source can take my mother away from me, but I'll fight like hell
before he takes my son away from me to work for him," Phoebe told her sisters.
"Now that's the Phoebe I know.
The one who's confident," Piper joked. Without saying another word, the
three sisters headed out the door.
***
"Daddy?" a young child's voice
asked. Leo looked up from the book he was reading to see his son walk into
the room, holding his teddy bear that the twins had given him for his last
birthday. "Well, look who's up. Did you have a good nap?"
Angel nodded and walked over to
Leo, whom picked up the little boy and put him in his lap. "Where's Mommy?"
"Sheís out helping your Aunties with something. So how about you watch
some cartoons on TV for a while? Then the two of us can make dinner for
Mommy and your sisters when they come home, okay?" "K," Angel smiled. He
climbed out of his Dad's lap and went over to the TV.
***
Inside the Hart's residence, the
phone rang. Jo and Emily ran downstairs to the living room and Jo picked
up the cordless phone. "Hello?" "Hi. This is Emily's Mom. Can I talk to
her please?" Jo handed Emily the phone. "It's your Mom."
Emily took the phone. "Hi Mom."
"Hi. What's going on?" "Well, Jo and I are just hanging around the house."
"Okay. Have you been careful not toÖ you know?" "Yes Mom. I'm fourteen,
remember?" "I suppose you're right. Well, I'll pick you up at ten tomorrow
morning. Then we'll go to church." "Okay. Bye." "Bye." Emily hung up.
"My Mom's so protective of me."
"I can relate to that," Jo said. The two then headed back upstairs to Joís
room. Mom's so worried about me using my powers in front of Jo. May I remind
her that I have had control of them for ten years, Emily thought.
***
Lucy tensed up when she heard a
few pair of footsteps running towards her, Patty, Andrew, and Cole, whom
had been talking for the past two hours. The sun had just set only five
minutes ago, but it seemed like it had been dark for hours.
Lucy relaxed when she saw her Mom
and Aunts run to them. Aunt Phoebe had called Cole an hour ago and told
them their plan for getting Paul back to the good side. Cole gave her their
approval, saying that the plan might work.
"So when David comes, I can freeze
him and then Paul will follow and we can get him back on our side, right?"
Patty asked. "I think so," Piper told her daughter. Phoebe scouted her
eyes around and they widened when she realized something.
"Phoebe, what's wrong?" Cole asked.
"Uh, guys, we have a problem in the plan." "What problem?" everyone asked
in union. "This isn't the spot where my premonition took place," Phoebe
reported. "Are you sure?" Prue asked.
"Positive. It was an area like
this, but there was a rosebush kinda in that corner and a large rock that
you could lay on in the middle." "The relax rock?" Patty asked, looking
at her sister. The sistersí kidsí had called the rock that because whenever
they were having a bad time camping with their family, they could go there
to relax. "That's over on the other side of the forest," Patty reported.
Everyone exchanged a worried face.
"Okay, um, why don't we run ahead first? Paul's not mad at us, so we should
be able to calm him down before you guys come. Give us a five minute head
start," Andrew pleaded. The adults looked at each other. Prue nodded. "All
right." With that, Prue watched her son and two nieces run off.
***
Paul had been spying on David and
the other football players for the tree house that the people who ran the
camping area built for the kids who came to the camp. He saw one of the
football players throw the football. David jumped up to try and get it,
but it flew further from him and way into the nearest patch of forest.
David then jogged into the forest.
Paul smiled as he shimmered out
of the tree house. He shimmered next to the rosebush by the relax rock.
The football had landed on the side of it. David entered the patch of forest
without knowing that Paul was there. He bent down to pick up the old football.
"Can't get away from me," he muttered
to himself as he stood up. "I second that," Paul told him. Before David
could turn around, Paul shimmered behind him and held him by his sweater
collar. He took out the gun and pointed it at David's head.
"Paul Halliwell?" David asked,
becoming very frightened. "Who'd you think it was?" "W-w-what do you want?"
"For it to stop," Paul reported. Before David could ask another question,
Patty, Lucy, and Andrew arrived a few feet behind him.
"Paul!" Lucy bellowed, loud enough
for both Paul and David to hear. Paul just stood there for a moment, frozen
like a statue. Lucy and Andrew gave Patty a questionable look. Patty shook
her head. Andrew cautiously approached Paul.
Suddenly, an eardrum shattering
explosion throughout the entire forest. Andrew sauntered back with a gasp,
feeling something warm and wet gushing across the right side of his chest.
He looked down and saw blood pouring from his chest. He then felt himself
begin to loose consciousness. His legs gave out from under him and he fell
onto grass under him as he fell into unconsciousness.
Lucy looked up to see David on
the ground and Paul standing there with the gun pointed at where Andrew
had fallen. She then realized he made them think they saw him standing
there when he had really knocked David out and shot Andrew.
"NOOOO!!!" Patty bellowed. She
began to race to Andrew. "Patty, no!" Lucy tried to stop her twin, but
Patty raced away too quickly. Paul quickly raised the gun and shot Patty
in the same exact spot where he had shot Andrew. Lucy let out a shocked
gasp as her twin sister fell next to Andrew. Paul looked over at her. "Do
you want to join them? I told Aunt Piper to let the family know to stay
out of my way," Paul said, as he rose the gun toward the last cousin in
front of him.
***
All three sisters gasped as they
heard a second gun shot erupt throughout the woods. Their fear grew when
they realized the sound was coming from where their children were. "Oh
my God," Phoebe gasped. She and her sisters immediately turned to a race
and ran to the wide-open area. All four adults were gasped at the nightmarish
scene.
Patty and Andrew lay on the ground,
almost near death. Lucy had been knocked out. "Leo!" Piper cried, almost
forgetting about Paul. She put up her hands and froze Paul's body, leaving
only her nephew's head unfrozen as she went over to her Patty, putting
her head on her lap as Prue did the same with her son. Leo suddenly orbed
in. Cole went over to check Lucy for a pulse.
"Leo! It's Patty and Andrew!" she
cried. Leo face grew very scared, like he had just seen his worst nightmare.
He quickly raced over between his daughter and nephew. He held either hand
over their heart, silently pleading to have his power work. Oh please God.
Don't take away my daughter, he begged. A golden glow shaded under each
of his hand. He breathed a sigh of relief as color started to come back
into the faces of his oldest daughter and nephew.
As her husband healed one of her
daughters, Piper looked worriedly over her shoulder at her other daughter.
"Sheís all right. Sheís just knocked out," he assured her. Phoebe was staring
at Paul, looking like she just betrayed her. "Paul, look what you almost
did. You nearly killed your cousins! This isn't you." "Maybe it's the new
me. Maybe it's the me hiding behindÖ" "No. It's not you."
Prue looked angrily at her nephew
for the first time in a long time and mumbled a spell to restrain him,
knowing that the freeze would wear off shortly.
"I call on the spirits
Hear my plea
Allow Paul not to shimmer away
Oh let it be."
Cole lay Lucyís head down gently
and raced over to his wife. "Listen, both of us are so sorry that we never
told you," Cole said. "We were scared that something like this would happen.
We were scared that if the evil forces found out that you were part demon
that they would do something like this to you and you'd be working for
the Source. And that would devastate me. I love you so much."
"We all do, but we didn't tell
you because we didn't want something like this happening to you. All your
cousins love you too. Jo, Patty, Lucy, Andrew, and even little Angel. Remember
what it feels like to be loved," Cole begged. Paul looked down at the ground.
Something changed inside of him. Patty suddenly gasped for breath. So did
Andrew.
All of a sudden, a red ball of
light shot out of Paul (like the sin balls in that episode) and exploded
into nothingness. Paul fell to his knees. "Honey, are you okay?" Phoebe
asked as she and Cole kneeled down beside their son. When he looked back
up, there were tears starting to stream down his cheeks. "I'm so sorry
Mom. I'm so sorry."
"It's all right. It's all right.
It wasn't you," his mother assured him.
***
Later that night, everyone was
in the Halliwell Manor in the conservatory. Phoebe and Cole sat with Paul
on the wickered couch. Piper and Prue sat in the other chairs. Patty, Lucy,
and Andrew had pulled over the chairs from the small table.
Prue had called her husband and
told him what had happen. Her husband, Jason, was now at home, watching
Emily and Jo. Leo had gone back home to watch Angel. Paul looked over at
Patty, Lucy, and Andrew. "You guys know how sorry I am for what I did,
right?" The twins let out a sigh of relief.
"Paul, for the hundredth time,
that wasn't you. We both forgive you," Patty said. Everyone looked over
at Andrew. "Of course I forgive you. But if you ever do that again without
magic in the mists, then don't even ask if I forgive you." Paul let out
a short laugh. "I'd never do anything like that."
The adults laughed too. After they
laughed, Prue remembered something. "Oh, we have to send Cole back," she
told her sisters. Phoebe looked a little depressed. "Honey, you have to.
I was only sent here to help bring Paul back to the good side. I wasn't
meant to say. We all know that I died and I have to go back." "But DadÖ"
Cole stopped and turned to his son.
"Sorry son. I have to go back.
I don't have a choice. I was called to stop you from being completely evil
and I did that. Now it's time for me to go back. But don't mourn me, but
remember me and never turn to evil by choice. I'm so proud of the things
you have done. Even though I was only alive for the first three months
of your life, I've been watching over you your whole life from heaven and
will continue to."
Paul took this all in for a moment,
then nodded. He gave his Dad a hug, who returned the hug. "Thank you for
your help Dad." "You're welcome." He turned over to Phoebe. She nodded.
He stood up. Phoebe took a semi cleansing sigh.
"My husband is here
And has done his task
But he is supposed to be a spirit
in heaven
Transfer him back there
Let it come to pass."
White orb lights engulfed Cole
and when they finished circling around, Cole was gone. Paul and Phoebe
stared at the space where he was.
***
The next morning, Prue walked out
of the kitchen with a mug of coffee and walked into the living room. It
was almost 10:30 in the morning and Andrew had gone next door to throw
the ball around with Paul. Everything was back to normal. She saw her daughter
and Emily sitting on the couch, watching some early morning cartoons. "So,
did you girls have fun yesterday?" "Yeah Mom. We had a blast." "I'm glad.
I'm sorry I couldn't be here. I had someÖ family business to attend to
with Joís Aunts," Prue told Emily.
"I understand. I just hope that
Jo can come spend the night at my house next time." "I'm sure that won't
be a problem," Prue told the girls as she took a sip of her coffee. Just
then, someone knocked on the door. "That's probably my Mom. We've gotta
do our usual Sunday errands," Emily said. She and Jo followed Prue over
to front door.
Prue had never met Emily before
or her Mom. Emily had only been friends with Jo for a month, ever since
Emily had moved back to San Francisco from Orlando, where she had lived
with her Mom her entire life.
When she opened the door, a woman
who looked to be about five years younger than herself with mid-length,
straight, raven hair. There was a certain familiarity about her. "Um, hello.
I'm Mrs. Matthews, Emily's Mom." "Hi. I'm Mrs. Hart, Joís Mom." The two
shook hands. "Uh, I know this is going to sound weird, but um, have we
met before? You look a little familiar." "Um, I don't think so."
The two just stared at each other
for a moment. The two girls walked up to them. "Anyway, thank you for having
Emily." "It was our pleasure. We wouldn't mind having her over again."
"Bye Jo. I had a great time. Bye, Mrs. Hart." "Bye Emily. We'll see you
later," Prue told her. Mrs. Matthews smiled as she helped her daughter
down the stairs with her duffel bag. She looked over her shoulder at Mrs.
Hart, who shut the door. Mrs. Matthews then looked back at her daughter
as she pushed the button on her electronic door opener. The driver and
passenger's doors popped open.
The two got in. "You didn't use
your powers did you?" "No Mom. I didn't summon anything." "Did anything
wiccan happen?" "No," Emily told her mother. She then paused. "Although
once when I came back from the bathroom, I could've swore I saw Jo in a
trance like state." "Well, let's just hope they're normal people and not
a family of warlocks," her Mom said as she started the car and drove away
from Presscott Street.
Paige, you're being paranoid. Nothing's
the matter with Mrs. Hart's family, she told herself as she turned on the
radio and headed home.

Prue watched out the window as
she watched Mrs. Matthews light green beetle turn the street corner and
leave. Why did she look so familiar? That thought drifted away as she saw
Patty and Lucy drive down the street towards the mall in their small sky
blue jeep that was given to them last year as their birthday present. She
smiled. Her husband then came up behind her and gave her a hug. He kissed
her on the cheek and saw the twins drive away.
"Yep. Just an average weekend in
the Halliwell family," she commented. "Fighting evil while going about
our everyday lives. You bet," Jason said. Prue laughed a little and then
looked at her husband. The two of them fell into a passionate kiss.

Phoebe: Because you remind me a

then looks at the director.) What's the rest of my line?

Director: Cut.
ß [Scene: Woods. Lucy and
Andrew are around the camp site, talking to David.]
