Bane of Humanity
If Only...
(Part two of a two part story)
By Michael

It had been days since she had last seen the sun. She had lost track of time altogether. He had chained her hands and legs together, and left her in the darkness, the darkness that seemed to reach out and touch her- send shivers down her spine. He had only been back once- to check up on things. She tried to fight but there was nothing she could do, she had to wait and hope her brother was okÖ

Phoebe launched herself into a levitating kick, hitting Jeremy straight in the jaw. When he stood up, he blew an ice cloud at Prue, hitting her. It should have frozen her to death, however it had no effect, as he had mistakenly hit astral Prue, who disappeared instantly. He turned to Bane, and threw one at him; he managed to throw a fireball at it, melting it into mere water. He threw another fireball at Jeremy, who blew ice on it- freezing it. Noticing this wasnít going anywhere; he blinked behind Bane and hit him over the head- knocking him out. One down, three to go.
Jeremyís full inventory of powers were, Cyrokinesis (controlling ice), blinking, and turbokinesis (controlling wind). He once had the power to control fire- but he had lost that after he had been brought back.
Turning to Phoebe, he threw an ice cloud at her. There was no where to run, it was going to hit her and kill her. Just on time, Piper flipped infront of her sister, jumped up and froze the cloud before it could harm her sister. Natalie the whitelighter had taught her that move, and she was grateful of it. Prue joined the scene, using her power it throw the ice back at Jeremy. He blinked behind them, avoiding an icy death. Prue used her power one more time to throw Jeremy across the room, and onto a knife killing him. Happy with their practise, "Jeremy" faded away to reveal a healthy Leo, who proceeded to heal Bane.
"Weíre ready" Bane said when he came round.

Prue, Piper, Phoebe, Bane and Leo sat together around the table. Piper was busy looking through the book of shadows, trying to find a spell to vanquish a powerful warlock demon thingey like Uber- Jeremy. They had practised daily for a week now, trying out every possible scenario. They had won each time- but not without a loss. Phoebe was once killed- and Bane was always getting knocked out. It wasnít good enough.
Phoebe was scrying on a map to find Sarah, but it was difficult, as she couldnít focus. Prue and Bane were sitting together, kissing as usual. Cole shimmered in. He had also been searching for Sarah.
"Any luck?" Leo asked.
"None, I have tried everywhere that I can think of" this news had disappointed everyone. They all thought that Cole would be successful in finding Sarah. "Any luck here?"
"I canít find her" Phoebe said, unable to cover up the disappointment in her tone. Despair creeped up on everyone. The news that they might never be able to find Sarah hit Bane the most, he couldnít bare to loose his sister.
"Iíve found a spell to vanquish him forever, but it canít do much good if we cant find him" Piper looked up from the book. Things seemed hopeless. Even the elders had little information to give them. All they found out was Jeremy was brought back as he could potentially destroy the Charmed ones. He has two demon sidekicks, and was guided by thousands of evil spirits, that could burn the flesh off of your bones just by touching you. That was about it.
"This is hopeless" the despair had gotten to Bane.
"Oh sweetie" Prue reached out and hugged her lover. She tried to reassure him, to comfort him with just her touch, but she knew she couldnít. She couldnít bare to loose her sisters, so she could try to understand what Bane was feeling.
The table before them was littered with so many things that they couldnít see the varnished wood. There was the map, the book of shadows, countless herbs that they had used for a locating spell- and the spirit board. This had caught their attention. The pointer on the spirit board was moving.
V- I- Z- Z- A- C it spelt.
"Vizzac? Who the hell is Vizzac?" Phoebe asked. She had written down the letters as they were spelt.
"Not sure," Leo answered "Let me check" He used his power to flip through the book of shadows at an alarming rate, coming to a halt at a page entitled "Vizzac, the demon of location"
"Aha, I believe we may have found a way of finding Sarah" Phoebe told the others as she read the page "it says that Vizzac is a good demon that has the power of seeing where everyone and everything is all the time."
"How do we get him to help us?" Prue asked her sister
"If we bring him a gift, he will do us the favour of telling us where Sarah is being kept"
"What sort of gift?" Piper asked
"Something expensive" Phoebe answered "riches, money, mythological relicsÖ"
"What do we give him then?" Bane had cheered up. There was a slight shimmer of hope penetrating the darkness of despair.
"I might have an idea!" Prue ran up to her bedroom and the sounds of her rummaging around in her closet. She ran back downstairs with a black box in her hand.
"See if you remember this, honey" She passed the box to Bane, who opened it. It was the diamond necklace that he had given her when he thought that she was Ms. Hellfire.
"Prue- you were supposed to have auctioned that off last year for the stop violence campaign!" Piper was annoyed that Prue had kept it. She had lied to them!
"Well, I wanted something to remember Bane by!" she desperately tried to explain her actions. It wasnít working, so, she went for: "we can use it to find Sarah! You have to forgive me!" there was no point in arguing. Bane was definitely pleased, not just that he was going to find his sister, but that Prue had loved him all along.
"Well, lets go to Vizzac then" Cole chimed in.

"Who dares disturb my slumber?" Boomed Vizzac. Vizzac lived underground in Alaska. Cole had shimmered there with Phoebe, and Leo had orbed there too. Vizzac sat upon a wooden throne with a great unicorn standing before him. This throne room held all the gifts given to him. Boxes of jewels, the unicorn, money, magickal amulets, keys, gold, silver, birds, the horn of a Minotaur and so many other items beyond comprehension. Vizzac was guarded by two ugly looking demons. Vizzac was obviously important, but you couldnít tell by looking at him. He was short- no taller than 5 foot, with wrinkled green/ grey skin. He had horns on the top of him head, and wore a small cloak.
"What things before me can be worthy enough to stand infront of me?"
The trio looked at each other, before each introducing themselves and saying what made them special:
"I'm Leo, a whitelighter"
"I'm Belthazor, youíve no doubt heard of me" Vizzac nodded in agreement
"I'm Phoebe, a charmed one"
Vizzac seemed pleased. He would not kill them (as he was capable of doing so) because they were not worthy of his presence, butÖ
"What gift have you brought me?" Phoebe withdrew the black box from her pocket, opened it and passed it to the guards who checked it before giving it to the mighty Vizzac. The diamonds sparkled in the candlelight.
"Very nice!" He was pleased. Thank God! "No one has given me this before" Thankfully, that was not sarcasm. "You have earned your reward"
"We need you to findÖ" Phoebe was cut off at this point by a wave of Vizzacís hand. She knew better than continue.
"I know what you want" he seemed slightly disgusted that Phoebe did not know this. He fell into a trance and a stream of purple light danced around his head. After a few moments, he came out of it, turned to the trio and said, "Sarah is located in a cave at this location" with a wave of his hand- he planted the information directly into their heads. "Phoebe, you search for true love, it is located with Cole, and Cole, happiness is with Phoebe." It seemed that Vizzac searched for everything that they were truly wanted "Leo (he continued) you have found what you are looking for" The three of them stood in silence "Be gone!" Vizzac sent them back to the manor.

"Ok, we should have brought a flashlight with us" Prue, Piper, Phoebe, Leo, Cole and Bane walked down a darkened natural corridor that led down to the cave that Jeremy and Sarah were located.
"No need" Leo threw light balls up into the air before them. It illuminated the path perfectly. They had walked for about half an hour, until they came to the clearing.
The area was huge. It was about as big as three baseball courts. There was a large platform in the centre (taking up two thirds of the area) and the space around it was nothingness, a never-ending hole. The centre of the platform held a ritual altar, decorated with candles, herbs and all forms of magickal items. Sarah was laid out on it, unconscious and dressed in a new white dress. Uber- Jeremy stood above her holding his decorative athame. The six of them ran towards her. Big mistake. The thousands of spirits that travel with Uber- Jeremy began to fly around the platform at an alarmingly fast rate. There was no way out. The two demons that travel with Jeremy appeared before them. They both had the power to control fire. This wasnít looking too good. They had to hold Bane back from running to his sister. "Go!" Prue commanded. Phoebe, Piper Cole, Leo and Bane all took on the two demons while Prue ran up to fight Uber- Jeremy. She kicked the knife out of his hands and into the spirits. It dissolved to dust immediately.
"Never mind, witch. There are other ways to kill you" After saying that, Uber- Jeremy jumped into the air and ran along (still in mid- air) kicking Prue. He flipped himself over her, and grabbed her neck. As Prue faced the others, a tear fell down her cheek as the others watched on. They were all so scared for Prue, but there was nothing they can do. "Watch this!" Jeremy stabbed Prue through the heart with his bone skewer. She dropped to the floor. "Well, what do you think?" Jeremy asked the others, obviously pleased with what he had done.
"That youíre an idiot!" Bane replied. The body of Prue disappeared. It was only Astral Prue. You heard Prue becoming one again, but couldnít see her. Bane waved his hand, and Prue, the real one, shimmered into view. Bane had turned her invisible.
"Well done" Uber- Jeremy was disappointed. "Letís see what you make of this."
The spirits began to close in on them.
"Piper, freeze them!" Phoebe had realized what was going to happen. They would be burned if the spirits closed in much further.
"The roomís too big, I canít freeze that much!" the spirits were out of range.
"TRY!" The others all screamed at her.
Piper raised her fists, opened her palms and thought ëspirits, only the spiritsí. It worked. Her power had grown; she managed to freeze them all. It was taking all of her energy though. She was going to be out of the fight.
Jeremy turned to Phoebe, and blew a gust of wind towards her, sending her flying fast toward the spirit ring. Prue used her power on her sister just in time, sending her toward Cole, who caught her. Cole was busy protecting the vulnerable Piper from the demons. Jeremy still hadn't finished with Phoebe. He threw a cloud of ice toward her. She levitated out of harms way, allowing the cloud to pass underneath her and freeze one of the demon sidekicks, which she then kicked, smashing it into a hundred pieces. One more demon to take care of. Bane took this task, but he couldnít throw fire at it for risk of hitting Piper. So, he threw it at Prue, who had a better aim and deflected it to the demon. Now all that was left was Uber- Jeremy. Bane lost control and ran at him. No one stopped him in time. He was impaled on the bone skewer. He fell to the ground, dead. Prue let out a cry, almost collapsing. Phoebe and Leo had to steady her. Piper was aware of what had happened, but had to stay focused.
"Youíll pay for that you bastard!" Prue loved Bane, and she was going to kill that thing before them for taking him away.
Uber- Jeremy became invisible, having stolen Baneís powers. He blinked somewhere, but youíre guess to where is as good as mine. They could still feel him there, but couldnít see him. Piper was exhausted, having devoted all of her energy to freezing the spirits. She was about to collapse, and if she did so, the spirits would unfreeze. Without thinking, Leo ran to his wife. He used his power of healing on her, giving her an energy rush. He had to stay with her, healing her constantly so she could keep control. With Cole (morphed into Balthezor) protecting Piper and Leo from danger, and Bane dead, it left only Prue and Phoebe to fight Uber- Jeremy. Two against something that counted for fifty. Not good.
Uber- Jeremy reappeared. He was facing Prue and Phoebe, standing between them and Sarah.
"You canít stop me. I'm too strong for you, for both of you."
He was confident, and probably had good reason to be. But the Charmed ones were not going to give up that easily.
Uber- Jeremy went into action. He threw fire at Prue, but she stopped it in mid air. You see, she had anticipated his next move that he made without realising what was happening. He instantly blew ice at them, which simply froze the fire. Phoebe levitated and kicked this toward him, smashing it on his head. He fell to the floor. Prue took her chance and, using her power, threw him into the wall of frozen spirits. They unfroze, and burned Uber- Jeremy. They had stopped closing in.
"Did we get him?" an exhausted Piper asked. Without giving a response, they all ran towards the unconscious, badly beaten Sarah. Prueís mind was only on the task at hand; she had no time to think about Baneís death. Leo healed Sarah, and with a gasp she sat up, and was helped to her feet, propped up on Phoebe whilst she fully recovered. Prue bent down to Baneís body, tears forming in her tired eyes. She kissed him on the forehead, and allowed a tear to fall on his lips. She kissed him one more time, and then reached into his pocket. Although Jeremy was gone, they were still trapped. Prue took out a small bottle containing a liquid the shone. It changed colors like Uber- Jeremyís eyes. She threw it into the spirit wall, and as it burned, the spirits withered away and died. Both Prue and Sarah were crying over Baneís body, but there was nothing anyone could do. Leo canít heal the dead after all.
Prue stood up, and looked into Sarahís eyes. They were empty, not in disbelief or sadness, but in lack of emotion. Prue stared, as Sarahís eyes started to glow. First red, then yellow, then blue, then green, the black and then back to red. Everyone else didnít seem to notice this, until Sarah let out a gleeful laugh.
"Trusting fools!" no one knew what was happening, so Sarah filled them in.
"Jeremy and I are in love. We are linked, we are destined to be together."
Everyone stared in disbelief.
"Jeremy made us one. We can inhabit the same vessel; our essence can live in the same shell. You canít kill one if the other lives. And I live.
Can't you see? Youíre not meant to win"
Sarah was never an innocent after all.
"But why?" Piper asked this demon- witch- girl
"For the power. Why else?" was her answer.
Then, before their eyes, Sarahís body began to morph. It grew larger. Much larger. She no longer looked like a person. She looked pure demon. It had talons, large claw like talons. It had a muscular appearance, and was obviously strong. It had a pinkish yellow color to its skin, with black eyes. Horns appeared, and so did spikes. Large horn like spikes protruded from all over its body. It was hideous. A white mist rose from the nothingness that Jeremy had fallen into. It was absorbed by the creature. This creature was a mixture of Jeremy and Sarah.
"Uh- oh" Phoebe murmured. Was there any way that this thing could be killed? Their powers weren't that strong.
"What do you think?" the thing boomed. It had a powerful, demonic voice. Just the sound of it sent shivers through you're spine.
"I think that youíre still an idiot!" Prue said, with no fear in her voice.
"What? How dare you? We can kill you instantly, and will, if youíre lucky that isÖ"
Prue had a plan. The others stepped back.
"You see," Prue began "We didnít have much of a chance of killing Uber- Jeremy, he was something more then a Warlock, something more powerful- even for us." The thing looked worried. "But youíre just a demon. A big one, but still just a demon. No powers I take it?"
Prue had found its weakness. In becoming this demon hybrid, Jeremy and Sarah had given up their powers.
"Say goodbye" Prue commanded, feeling strong suddenly. The thing didnít know what to do. Prue grabbed Piper and Phoebe by the hands, and they formed a circle. Prue dropped a piece of paper in the centre of this circle, on which was written a spell. The three began to chant:
"Magick forces far or near,
Send this evil away from here.
Be it to heaven or be it to hell,
Send it away from this Halliwell."

After chanting this, the demon blew up, quite literally. They did it. But they lost someone on the way. Prue knelt over Baneís body, and burst into tears.
The five of them stayed there, in the cave, in the quiet where no one could find them. Piper and Phoebe sat down beside Prue, and hugged her.

SHORTLY AFTER PRE- WITCHED
"Why do you have to leave me?" a while had passed since the confrontation in the caves. Prue had cried for a day, but now seemed to be coping better, infact- she hadn't mentioned what happened in weeks. At the time she kept asking herself why this had to happen to her. First Andy, now Bane.
She didnít know how to cope, and Piper and Phoebe were worried about what was going to happen to their sister, remembering what happened to her after Andy. Prueís confrontation with death helped her a lot- although Piper and Phoebe later heard that Bane had not been mentioned. Although Prue was feeling so much better now, she was still being held back. No one knew what to do- until it hit Phoebe. Hold a séance. They had recently done it to contact a witch, so why not do it again. After some convincing, Prue agreed to contact Bane. They went through with the ritual, and found themselves in the presence of Bane Jessupís spirit.
"It was my time. I can't change that, you can't change that, and no one can. What happened was meant to happen" Bane spoke directly to Prue. Piper and Phoebe wished that they weren't there, but the spell needed the three of them.
"But why can't things be different, why?" Prue pleaded with Bane.
"Because they can't be. If only things were different" He looked into her eyes.
"If onlyÖ" she began "the saddest words in any language."
"I know, my love, but you must accept what has happened and move on. I will always be with you, in you're heart"
Prue was still upset greatly, more so than before, and the séance suddenly didnít seem like a good idea. Suddenly, the unexpected happened. Baneís spirit jumped into Prueís body, filling her with a warm white light. The light disappeared, and the séance was over. Bane had given Prue an understanding. She finally understood that she had to move on, not just for her sake, Oh no, much more, for Baneís sake. She had to live, not dwell in the past.
The three sisters hugged and then left the attic together. As they began to march down the stairs, one of the candles in the attic lit by itself. All that could be heard was a faint whisper saying the words:
"If onlyÖ"
