Month Two, March.  Maeganya gathered herbs from a garden she had in a field next to her forest.  She was going to cast a spell that would make her stronger than before to defeat the Charmed Ones and their cousin, but little did she know that her attack made the elders decide that one of the sisters needed to gain a new power.  They decided to give Paige the gift of deflection.  She will have the ability to deflect magic thrown at her and spells cast on her, good or evil.  Maeganya waited all day and some of the night to cast her spell.  She waited until the moon was right overhead, and then she began.  She had her cauldron already boiling, all she had to do was add the herbs and say the incantation.  She took the herbs in one hand and her spell book in the other and was about to throw the herbs in the water, but stopped.  She realized she was doing the spell all wrong, she wasnít supposed to use a cauldron at all.  The herbs were meant to be burned in a fire, not boiled in a cauldron.  Maeganya was furious with herself for making such a dumb mistake.  She said a simple chant and the fire died out, and said another chant and the water stopped boiling and was turned cold instantly, and steam rose as the cold water cooled off the cauldron that was so hot it was glowing red at the bottom.  Maeganya waited 30 minutes and moved the cauldron out of the way.  She was still furious because now she had to wait until the next night because the moon had sunk a little and wasn't as high anymore.  In present time, Piper was basking in her pregnancy delight, and was out shopping for a crib for little Melinda.  Phoebe was with Pearl studying the BoS, and Paige was at work.  Paige felt a tingle and shivered.  Unknown to her it was her gaining her new power.  Her phone rang and she answered it.  It was Phoebe.  "Hello?" Paige answered.  "Hey Paige!  What are ay doing?" Phoebe answered cheerfully.  "Nothing, did you find something interesting or helpful in the book?" Paige replied.  "Maybe, can you come home?" Phoebe answered.  "I'll see what I can do, okay?" Paige said.  "Okay, love you, bye." Phoebe said and hung up the phone.  Paige sat at her office and wondered if Phoebe found exactly what she wanted.  In a dark room, a young woman sat crying before an altar with red and black candles burning on it and a cauldron with a little smoke still snaking out of it.  The woman focused on the candles and a slight breeze picked up and put them out.  She grabbed a picture of her and a man hanging on each other and smiling, and looked at it with hate in her eyes.  "You sorry son of a bitch!  You messed with a descendant of Melinda WarrenÖ and nowÖ time to pay!"  The woman said to the picture.  She walked over to her cauldron, and ripped the picture in half and dropped the half with the man on it in and struck a match and threw it in with the picture and watched it burn.  "With all my might, I curse your life, spirits of the night, show him true torment and strife!"  The woman said loudly with pure hatred.  An explosion erupted from the cauldron and she smiled, her curse was cast.  "Payback time, Jake!" the woman said.  There was a quick knock on the bedroom door and it opened.  "Melanie, what have you been up to?" Her mom asked.  "Nothing, mom.  Just a spell." Melanie answered.  "Nothing bad, I hope."  Her mom said.  She looked at Melanie and saw she had been crying.  "Mel, sweetie, are you alright?" She asked with concern.  "JakeÖ  cheated on me, and we broke up." Melanie answered and a tear fell down her face.  "What have you been casting in here?" Her mom asked.  Melanie looked away and her mother knew in that instant that she had done a curse.  "Melanie Belinda Fawkes!  You break that curse right now!" Her mother hollered at her.  "No!  I'm 19, you can't make me do anything anymore!" Melanie said defiantly.  "Then you can cast your curses somewhere else from now on." She said coolly, and left the room.  Melanie stared at her as she walked away and more tears streaked down her face.  "I'm sorryÖ" Melanie muttered, and started to cry again and she packed her magic tools first.
The next day, Saturday, Leo orbed in and frightened Paige and she ended up deflecting him to the other side of the room.  "OhÖ myÖ goshÖ  Did I just do that?" Paige asked as she saw a transparent blue force field appear and throw Leo's light form across the room.  He materialized and stared at her, then smiled.  "Your deflection power is really strong, no one would think you got it from the elders just yesterday." Leo said.  Paige's eyes widened.  "New power?!  Already?!" Paige said with excitement, then she grinned.  "Piper and Phoebe are going to be SO jealous!" Paige squealed and ran to tell them. Maeganya had a good fire going and the moon was as high as it was going to get, and the herbs were in one hand and her book in the other opened to the page she needed.  She threw the herbs on the fire and then began to chant.  "Omaleau.  Detrofic.  Grafayeau.  Vaminoau." She said, and the fire exploded upward and she smiled.  She tested all her powers and they were back, and stronger than ever.  The time to attack again was very near, but it wasn't today.  Melanie walked the dark streets of San Francisco and would use her wind power to blow a trash can over here and there, and move other things around here and there also, every once in awhile.  Pearl happened to be walking toward her from behind her and she saw Melanie go into an alley and watched her make a wall of wind form in front of her and send it down the alley and knock everything over and against the wall at the back of it, including a few homeless people.  "What do you think you're doing?!" Pearl said as she walked up to Melanie and grabbed her shoulder hard and turned her around.  When Pearl saw who it was, she gasped.  "Melanie!  Why did you just do that?  What would your mother say?" Pearl asked her.  "I'm sad, cousin PearlÖ  I did a curse on my ex because he cheated on me and broke my heart and she found out and she told me to break it, but I told her no, and she said ëthen you can cast your curses somewhere else.í and here I am." Melanie said, and tears fell down her face.  Pearl hugged her and kissed her forehead.  "ShhhhÖ  It's going to be okay.  Where were you going to stay?" Pearl asked her.  Melanie looked at her expectantly.  "That's what I thought, your mom kicked you out with no place to go, but I can't really blame her, if I caught my child doing curses, I'd probably do the same." Pearl said.  Melanie pushed her away and started to walk away.  "But, that doesn't mean I'm taking her side and am going to let you wander out here by yourself and become homeless." Pearl called out to her.  Melanie stopped and turned around and walked back to Pearl.  "Did you mother ever tell you about the Charmed Ones?" Pearl asked.  "Yes." Melanie answered.  "Well, good, let's go see them, shall we?" Pearl said.  "W-what?  Did you say let's go see them?" Melanie stammered.  "Yes, they're our cousins, and they may have a room for you at their house." Pearl told her, and then grinned.  Melanie looked at her with hope, and they headed to Prescott Street.  The next morning Melanie woke up in her makeshift bed in the attic of Halliwell manor, and smiled.  She could feel the magic in the attic and soaked it up, and there was also a homey feeling and a feeling of love, she never felt anything like it, but then again, she was in the Charmed Onesí home, and best of all, they were her cousins, she couldn't believe it, she was so happy.  She walked downstairs and smelled breakfast and went straight to the kitchen.  "Morning Melanie!" Piper said cheerily.  "Morning Piper." Melanie said and smiled.  "Oh, incase you haven't noticed yet, I'm the chef of the family." Piper said, smiling, and handed Melanie a plate and placed the bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits, and croissants on the table.  Melanie's eyes widened as she looked at all the food Piper had made, and right on cue, Paige, Phoebe, Leo, and Cole flooded the kitchen, and Piper had a look of satisfaction on her face, and sat down to eat.  Melanie quickly got what she wanted and started to eat, and watched everyone snatch up what they wanted.  After the delicious breakfast, Melanie decided to get a shower.  When she walked out of the bathroom, Piper was there waiting for her.  "So, how'd you sleep last night?" Piper asked.  "Really good, you're the only people I know that can make a makeshift bed that comfortable." Melanie answered, and smiled at Piper.  "Oh, and breakfast was really delicious, but I have to be honest, when I saw Phoebe, Paige, Leo and Cole rush in like that I didn't think I'd get very much to eat." Melanie said, and then chuckled, and Piper giggled.  "Melanie, each of us have our roles here in this house.  I'm chef and potions master, Phoebe is spell writer and martial artist, and PaigeÖ has yet to find hers, and Leo is my husband, our healer, and informant, he's our white lighter, and Cole is Phoebe's fiancé and was until recently, another informant of ours, demonicÖ informant, but a potion to strip him of his demon half fixed that, but what I'm trying to say is, we'd love to have you with us, and if you want to help us fight the good fight, there will be a role you'll have to take and you'll have to take it seriously and live up to it, and you may have to cover for me a little, or maybe a lot, seeing as how I'm pregnant." Piper said and smiled at Melanie.  "Oh, Piper, that's so wonderful, how far along are you?" Melanie asked.  "Two months." Piper answered.  "That's so great, I'm really happy for you.  And thank you so much for going out of your way to help me out, I'd love to stay here, and I promise to quickly find a strength and help with whatever I can." Melanie said and smiled gratefully at Piper.  "Welcome to our quirky covenÖ sister." Piper said, and hugged Melanie.  Melanie closed her eyes and a tear fell down her face, she felt so happy she had family like this.
"íTis time!" Maeganya yelled, and darkness surrounded her to take her to the future.  "You were lucky last time, you were ready for me, and I was alone, but this time, I will form an alliance and strike when you least expect it!" Maeganya said as she stood outside the manor, then walked into some shadows and disappeared.  Melanie decided to go for a walk to get rid of some energy and found herself in a dark alley, and noticed a strangely dressed woman appear from the darkness.  "Welcome, my dark child.  I am Maeganya, what is your name?" Maeganya said to Melanie.  "Melanie.  How did I get here?" Melanie asked.  "Don't you know?  You followed me with the evil in your heart, and don't act like it isn't there, you know we both are evil, me more than you, though.  You have great potential, you know?  All you have to do is embrace your dark side and join me and I will give you power the likes of which you have never dreamed of." Maeganya said.  Melanie felt very tempted and vulnerable, but hesitated.  "You hesitateÖ ignore your conscience, girl, and you can be extremely great, all you have to do is embrace the evil within you." Maeganya said.  Melanie took a few steps forward and Maeganya smiled wickedly.  "That's it, girl, you won't regret this, I promise." Maeganya said, then took out some black powder from a pouch hanging on her waist and blew it at Melanie from the palm of her hand, and Melanie inhaled the magic essence that came from the powder and closed her eyes, then opened them again to reveal they had turn completely black and glossy, like a raven's eyes.  "You will be my eyes and ears, Melanie, now go, and fulfill your purpose." Maeganya said, and disappeared into the shadows, and Melanie closed her eyes and opened them, and they were back to normal.  Melanie turned and left the alley and went back to the manor to watch the sisters.  Melanie walked in the front door and heard shuffling in the television room.  She peered in and noticed Phoebe pulling at the bottom of her shirt and Cole finishing buttoning his shirt, and she smirked at them.  "Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt anything." Melanie said.  "Oh, it's okay, we don't really have time to fool around, we just got caught up in being alone in the house." Phoebe replied.  Melanie smiled and nodded her head and headed up the stairs.  Melanie laid down on her bed and stared at the ceiling and after awhile heard footsteps coming up the stairs and looked at the door and watched Phoebe appear in the doorway.  "Hey, Melanie, me and Cole are going to get out of the house for a little while, will you be okay here by yourself?" Phoebe asked.  "Sure, have fun." Melanie said and smiled at Phoebe.  "Okay, see you later then." Phoebe said and smiled back and left the attic.  Melanie heard them drive away and fell asleep.  "Oh, thank God you're alright!" Melanie heard Piper say, and sat upright instantly awake.  "What?" Melanie asked confused.  "Have you been asleep the whole time we've been gone?" Piper asked.  "No, Piper, she went out for a walk and came back then me and Cole left." Phoebe said.  "I fell asleep right after they left, why?" Melanie asked.  "Because the manor is ransacked, Melanie." Pearl said.  Melanie felt a sharp pain in her head for a split second.  "I must have slept through it because I've been asleep since Phoebe and Cole left." Melanie answered.  Melanie got up and walked downstairs to see what condition everything was in.  Phoebe moved towards Melanie's bed and was thrown into a premonition.  Maeganya walked out of a dark corner of the attic and said ëAwakení, and Melanie opened her eyes which were completely black and glossy, and Maeganya pointed to the doorway that leaves the attic and Melanie left the attic and Maeganya walked back into the shadows and disappeared.  Phoebe came out of it and looked shocked.  "Pearl, why did you bring Melanie here?" Phoebe asked her.  "She had no where to go, her mother kicked her out." Pearl answered.  "Why did her mother kick her out?" Phoebe asked.  "Because she placed a curse on a guy she said cheated on her and broke her heart." Pearl said.  "Oh boyÖ" Phoebe said.  "Why, what did youó " Pearl started to ask, but Phoebe cut her off.  "I saw Maeganya come out of the shadows over there and walk over here and tell Melanie awaken and she did and opened her eyes and they were black and glossy and she went downstairs." Phoebe said.
Melanie walked back into the attic and her eyes were black and glossy again, and Maeganya walked out of the shadows and they surrounded Phoebe, Piper and Pearl.  "Maeganya must have escaped in the knick of time and came back and tapped into the darkness in Melanie and is using her to kill us." Phoebe said.  Paige felt a bad feeling and sped up to get home.  She sped down Prescott Street and parked by the sidewalk in front of the manor and orbed out of her car and into the attic and found herself standing in front of Phoebe, Piper and Pearl, and Maeganya and Melanie closing in on them ready to attack.  "Thank God you're here now, Paige, deflect them!" Piper said.  Paige held up her hands and a transparent blue force field appeared around the sisters and Pearl.  Melanie raised her hand and blew wind at them, but it was sent back to her and threw her into a wall and knocked her out.  Maeganya watched and hissed at them.  "Let me have Maeganya, Paige, take down the force field, please." Pearl said.  Paige let the magic down, and Pearl opened an attic window and conjured up a storm and made lightning strike Maeganya and knocked her out with an even stronger blast than she used when she fought her when she first met her in the street.  They all ran over to the BoS to use the vanquishing on Maeganya before she came to.  "Power gone sour, we vanquish this hour, witch gone bad, which is so sad, we defeat you at last.  Mineau, vaoutaram, craudeaur!" Piper, Phoebe, Paige and Pearl said together.  Maeganya screamed in pain and got up and started to burn.  Piper, Phoebe, Paige and Pearl said the vanquishing again and Maeganya exploded.  Melanie groaned and got up.  Her eyes were back to normal, and she walked over to them.  "What happened?" Melanie asked.  "Yeah, what happened? I thought we vanquished her already?" Paige asked.  "Maeganya must have escaped right before the spell finished her off and found a way to restore her powers and came back to fight us and felt the evil in Melanie and tapped into that and used her to help her try to kill us again.  Melanie, I'm afraid we can't let you stay here anymore since there are traces of evil in you.  We'll help you get a place of your own and help you look for a job." Piper said.  Melanie looked heartbroken.  "I'm sorry." Piper said and left the attic.  "Melanie, I'll talk to Piper and see if I can change her mind." Phoebe said, and left the attic.  "Piper, can we give her another chance?" Phoebe asked.  "No, she's dangerous as long as there is evil in her." Piper said.  "There's evil in me too, and I'm not a threat.  Besides, she had no control over it.  It was some spell Maeganya cast on her to put her under control." Phoebe said.  "Yes, but you're different, and it doesn't matter, spell or no spell, it proves she's evil." Piper said.  "Piper, give her another chance, please, I can make a potion to get rid of her evil." Phoebe pleaded.  Piper wasn't going to budge from her decision until Phoebe said the magic words.  "For Pearl?" Phoebe said.  Piper's expression softened and she looked at Phoebe with regret.  "Fine, but if something happens, it's your fault." Piper said and walked to the kitchen to start dinner.  "Oh, Phoebe, make sure Pearl stays for dinner, would ay?" Piper said.  Phoebe smiled.  "Alright." Phoebe said and went back to the attic.
In the past, Maeganya has escaped again, and she is weaker than ever.  She hears yelling in her garden and watches suspiciously as people with torches move closer.  "There is the witch!  Get her!" the mob leader yells.  Maeganyaís eyes widen and she runs through the forest to hide.  An hour later, she's hiding in the darkness with people with torches all around the forest looking for her.  She watches someone get close and is filled with horror as she hears him yell.  "She's over here!  I found the witch!  She's here!" the man yelled.  The mob surrounded her and tied her hands behind her back and gagged her and blind folded her and dragged her out of the forest.  In a clearing there was a wooden beam sticking out of the ground and a circle of rocks around it, and wood and straw piled up in the circle of rocks at the base of the wood pole.  The mob leader stood her on top of the wood and straw and untied her hands and quickly tied them back around the pole, and tied up her feet to it also.  He took out the gag and took off the blind fold, and stood away.  "What is all this about?!" Maeganya asked furiously, full of fear.  "Bite thy tongue, witch!" the leader said.  "You are to be executed, burned at the stake, for your crimes, which are murder and using witchcraft." the leader said.  He took his torch and started a fire in four different places.  The mob watched as the fire consumed Maeganya, and took on satisfied expressions as she screamed in pain as she was burned alive.  The blood curdling screams lasted for an hour, and she finally died.  The next morning, by the sunlight, burned bones can be seen, and some still have muscle and tissue on them.  Her skull is scorched and still has some muscle and tissue on it also.  The mob leader returns to the execution spot and picks up all the bones he can find and places it in a box and returns to the nearby village.  In the future, Melanie is sitting at the kitchen table watching Phoebe make her a potion that will bind the evil inside her.  Phoebe finishes and pours the potion into two glasses, and hands one to Melanie and keeps the other one.  "Drink this and you will not have anymore evil in your system." Phoebe said, and smiled at her.  "Are you going to drink it too?" Melanie asked.  "Yep, I have a little evil in me too, you know, so it's probably a good idea I do this while I have the chance.  Let's make a toast." Phoebe said.  "Okay." Melanie agreed.  "ToÖ  sisterhood." Phoebe said, and smiled at Melanie.  Melanie smiled back happily at what Phoebe said.  "To sisterhood." Melanie repeated, and they clinked their glasses together and swallowed the potion in one gulp.
