"Look Phoebe, if you waited 'till now to tell me about Cole in hopes that we'd die and you wouldn't have to deal with me, you have another thing coming."
                                                -Prue

It's night and poor Darryl remains at the office, trying to convince a man to be cautious, that someone is after him. But Mr. Chang isn't ready to listen. Darryl explains to him that his picture was on the Metro page of the newspaper and that several people who have had the same honor have ended up dead in the past few days. Mr. Chang doesn't seem too worried though and he quickly leaves.
Outside the integration room, the three Halliwell sisters talk to the inspector. Turns out Pheebs had a premonition about Mr. Chang being killed. Phoebe seems to be more ready to vanquish than ever. Apparently, she's gotten over Cole. So the sisters split up to follow the man, Phoebe and Piper go one way, Prue and Darryl the other.
Back in a dark alley, Prue and Darryl spot the demon attacking. Prue tosses the demon against a wall, then lets him go. She just stands there stunned. She dated that demon.
The next morning, Darryl is over and Piper is watering the plants. Apparently she waters when she's nervous and few things make her more nervous than finding out that the oldest of the Halliwell clan has also dated a demon. It's a disturbing trend.
In walks Prue, her college year book in hand. She shows them the captain of the football team, her former boyfriend, and newly christened baddie. His name is Tom Peters. Then she heads off to the kitchen, looking for Leo. Everyone follows and soon the whitelighter appears. But he has issues. Piper is horrified to learn that he's lost her mother's ring. She gave it to him to give back to her at the perfect moment, but now it's gone. Piper threatens bodily harm if he doesn't find it.
Prue, meanwhile, is more worried about her ex. Leo informs her that humans can be turned into demons. They can be recruited by evil and then put into a training school. In order to graduate to demon status, they have to kill an innocent. Since Tom has yet to kill his innocent, Prue is determined to save him.
After everyone else has left the kitchen, Leo tries to convince Phoebe to confess her secret about Cole to her sisters. But Phoebe's more in to making up for her mistakes by becoming a better witch. She goes out to the living room, wondering about a spell to find Tom. Poor Piper just wants a spell to find her ring. Phoebe explains that she might have one-to find Tom that is. Piper follows her into her room and Phoebe reluctantly hands over a lost and found spell. After asking her what she was trying to find, Piper finally learns the truth about Cole. Needless to say, Piper isn't too happy. But Phoebe insists that she just couldn't kill him. Piper seems more upset by her lying, than anything else though. And she wants her sister to tell Prue the truth too. Phoebe's not quite ready for that yet.
Prue is over at Tom's mother's house, trying to find out more about him. Apparently Tom was depressed after he hurt his knee playing football. Mr. Kellman his business manager was helping him, but his mother hasn't seen him in years.
Back at the house Piper and Phoebe do the lost and found spell. Prue walks in, rather impressed that her sisters have gone to such efforts. Piper mutters that Phoebe didn't exactly do it for her. She spends the rest of the conversation hinting about Cole, even as Phoebe kicks her under the table. The youngest Halliwell wants to know if they plan to vanquish Tom. But before Prue can answer that they hear something hitting the door. It's a newspaper...with no pictures, except for one, a picture of a lady in the Metro section. Phoebe hurries them out the door, realizing that she must be Tom's next victim.
The trio arrives in a parking lot and Piper freezes Tom, before the woman has even realized he's there. Then Prue decides that they need to take him back to the manor. Her sisters just look at each other.
Up in the attic Piper continues to freeze Tom, who is tied to a chair. Once again she wants to bring up the issue of Cole, but once again Phoebe changes the subject. Prue finds the demonic school in the book. If Tom is a demon he should have six chevrons branded into his arm. He only has five though. Phoebe still wants to vanquish him. But Prue reminds her about Cole and how when he was the demon in question...Pheebs had a whole different perspective. Phoebe insists that she learned from that mistake.
Finally Tom unfreezes as the doorbell and phone both start to ring. Piper and Phoebe go downstairs while Prue stays with him. Phoebe answers the door. It's Darryl, having found Tom's file. Suddenly a white dog runs in. Piper is rather surprised when she realizes that it's their grandmother's dog who's been lost for seven years. Apparently the lost and found spell worked a little too well.
Piper goes to answer the phone... only to find that it's an old friend of Prue's calling. As she searches for a pencil to take a message she opens a drawer. A bazillion pencils spill out, along with her wedding ring. Piper hangs up, and when she turns around Phoebe and Darryl are there. And Phoebe's brown hair (which she technically lost) is back again. Phoebe isn't too happy with that. And then suddenly a million socks start to appear from the laundry room. Oops...
Up in the attic, Prue tells Tom that she's going to save him whether he likes it or not. But he wants to be a demon, and he says Kellman will kill them both if he fails. As she finally leaves the attic, Prue loosens his ropes with her powers.
Down in the kitchen Prue finds her sisters and Darryl buried under hundreds of formerly lost items. Darryl's worried that their previously vanquished demons might be wandering back also. Prue asks him about Kellman. Then she hears Tom escaping. But it's all part of her plan. Now she and her sisters can follow him.
Prue, Piper and Phoebe, track him to an office, but once inside, he seems to have disappeared. Phoebe modifies her spell and says it again. Suddenly a doorway  to an elevator opens. Prue and Phoebe step inside, dragging Piper along. They yell as the elevator abruptly drops downward. When it finally stops they get out and hear fighting. There's a wrestling ring with a bunch of demons standing around it. Inside some poor guy who has failed in his innocent killing task is wrestling with a big demon guy. The sisters watch as a fiery hole opens up beneath the man. He falls in and it quickly disappears. Then Tom is sent into the ring.
Phoebe wants to get back in the elevator, but Prue insists that they have to save him. Finally Piper freezes the demons. But Kellman and a few of the stronger ones don't freeze.
Meanwhile, Leo orbs in to see Darryl. He can't sense the girls and he's worried. Darryl tells them about Kellman, and Leo hastily orbs out before Darryl can ask him anymore questions.
Somewhere down below, Kellman has thrown this metal sphere at Tom. There are sharp blades protruding from it and it hovers by Tom's neck. But Tom assures everyone of his wish to become a demon, then joins Kellman outside the ring. And then Piper freezes him, telling them that Tom won't be able to kill an innocent now, and that if they hurt her, he'll stay frozen for ever. Then Prue makes a deal to fight for Tom. If they win they get him back.
As they prepare to fight, Prue decides that Piper should stay out of the ring to make sure Tom stays frozen. And then worrying that they might soon die, Phoebe finally decides to tell Prue about Cole. Piper's horrified at how lousy her timing is, and Prue doesn't take the news well. And to make matters worse Kellman sends out two huge demon guys for them to fight.
As they get into the ring, Prue glares at her sister, ready to kick more than just demon @ss. As they start to fight, it looks like they might have a chance. Piper plays coach from the side, trying to egg them on, by reminding them of how mad they are at each other. Unfortunately for poor Piper, Kellman throws one of his spheres into her back. Piper collapses as Tom unfreezes. They've called her bluff. Of course, with their sister now mortally wounded, Prue and Phoebe become a little distracted. Phoebe nearly gets dropped into the fiery pit, but Prue saves her. Then she explains that they have to win if they're going to save Piper. They fight harder than ever and in the end, it is the two wrestling demons who end up in the fire. But by this time, Kellman has taken Tom back up to kill his own mother, hoping that that will finally turn him evil.
Prue and Phoebe carry Piper back up to Kellman's office. Luckily Leo is there, still trying to find him. Piper has stopped breathing by this point and Leo quickly takes the sphere blades out of her back. As his powers work their magic, Leo explains that the only way to stop Kellman is to turn one of his recruits against him, which means saving Tom. Now they must get Tom and his mother over to their house. Phoebe will have to fix her spell again to bring Tom to them. They finally go, leaving Leo with Piper.
As they walk out of the office, Phoebe wants to talk. She explains that she only wanted to save Cole in the same way that Prue now wants to save Tom. But more than anything Prue is mad that she lied. And besides Tom started out good. He deserves a chance.
Back in the office, Piper finally wakes up. She smiles and tells Leo that she found her ring. Then they hug.
Over at the manor, Darryl has brought Tom's mom. Unfortunately the house now seems to be plagued with lost souls who are flying around. Tom and Kellman finally show up and Tom nearly kills his mom with a fireball. And then Kellman throws one of his sphere at the woman's throat. Prue tries to talk to her ex, even as the spirits fly around. Tom walks over to his mom, seemingly ready to kill her with the sphere. But then instead he throws it at Kellman, killing him. He hugs his mom and Phoebe hastily reverses the spell, getting rid of the lost souls.
Later that night, Piper is finally wearing her ring. Tom is home with his mom and Leo has returned their Grams' dog to the family he was living with. But they're still going to need to have a lot of garage sales to get rid of all the "lost" stuff. Finally she and Leo go out to their much deserved dinner, leaving Prue and Phoebe to talk.
Phoebe burns her lost and found spell and apologizes again, telling her sister that Cole won't be coming back. But Prue explains that that doesn't fix it. Phoebe lied to her sisters, a lie that could still get them killed. She feels betrayed.  Phoebe wants to know where she should go from here. But Prue doesn't know. They just sit in front of the fire, staring at each other.
