"What love can't conquer, we will."
-Prue
Piper Halliwell
is sick of hearing about weddings. It seems that everywhere she turns there's
another bride-to-be flaunting her diamond ring or riding around in her
limousine. There's no escaping
these
giggling, cheerful women with their oh-so-perfect wedding plans. Piper,
on the other hand, will not be so lucky. Her marriage has to be a secret,
a big detail she's not overly thrilled about.
Back at the
manor, her sisters are wondering which of them will be chosen as the maid
of honor. Will it be Phoebe who gets to hang out with her more, or Prue
who's known Piper longer by a year or two? Without Piper to settle the
argument, their talk quickly turns to the impending eclipse. Phoebe is
already making glasses for everyone so that they'll be able to see it.
Piper finally comes home then, but when her sisters inquire about who's
to be her maid of honor, she doesn't have an answer. She's not even sure
she'll get a maid of honor. Leo orbs in a few minutes later, the bearer
of bad news. The whitelighters who are so eager to tear them apart, have
given the couple an ultimatum. They either have to stop seeing each other
or another whitelighter will be assigned to the sisters. Now Piper and
Leo's only option is to get married by the next night. The problem is,
if the elders find out, they've promised "unspeakable wrath." Phoebe's
a little concerned about the whole wrath promise, but Piper
and
Leo want to try anyway. He leaves then, and suddenly the sisters hear the
cat at their door. Kit has brought them an owl. But as they watch the owl
turns into a naked man, right there on their doorstep. Phoebe and Prue
gawk, but the bride to be just hides her eyes.
The naked man,
who also goes by Christopher, quickly finds himself a towel as the sisters
try and convince him that they can help. But he wants nothing from them.
All he wants is revenge against his boss, the man who cursed him. As the
sisters huddle, Christopher skips out with some of Leo's clothes. Piper
isn't too disappointed to see him go, realizing that they have enough problems
already. Prue readies herself for BoS duty and tells Phoebe to go help
Piper. But Pheebs is a little reluctant to do so. She's not so sure that
Piper's made the right decision now that they've heard about the unspeakable
wrath. Never the less, Phoebe does her sisterly duty, and hurries on ahead
with Piper.
The two younger Halliwell sisters soon find themselves in line at the bookstore,
having found themselves a small stack of wedding books. Piper has caught
on to her younger sister's attitude and is now wondering why Phoebe was
so eager for her to say yes to Leo's proposal if she didn't want the wedding
to go through. ADA Cole Turner interrupts their conversation and is soon
flirting shamelessly with Phoebe. He has also spotted their books, but
both Piper and Phoebe assure him that they are for a cousin. While the
girls' heads are turned though, Cole magically switches his books for theirs.
Piper and Phoebe end up walking away with a few forensic psychology texts.
The saying "don't
let the boss man get you down" has by this point gone to Christopher's
head. He attacks his demonic ex-boss with a knife, but flees when an arrow
wielding security man shows up. The boss man orders his security guy to
find Christopher and kill him, either that or kill any owl he spots after
sunrise.
Back at the
manor, the sisters are still flipping through the BoS, in hopes of finding
something on the curse. Instead Piper finds a handfasting spell, something
that might help her and Leo wed in
secret.
She is curious why Phoebe never mentioned that when she was pouring through
the book before. Phoebe quickly reminds her of the unspeakable wrath, then
questions whether or not Piper is being selfish by going through with her
wedding. Piper acknowledges that she probably is, but that for once she
wants to do something for herself, to have a real shot at happiness. As
she closes the book, one of Christopher's feathers slips down from the
stand. Phoebe reaches for it and has a premonition of him being attacked
by a wolf. The Halliwells hurry out of the house, intent on saving him.
Out in the woods,
they spot Christopher and the wolf, but quickly realize that the animal
means no harm. And then, much to their surprise, Christopher turns back
into an owl, and the wolf turns in to Brooke, the woman he loves. The girls
quickly try to win her trust. This gets easier when they save her from
the arrow wielding security guy.
Once at home
again, Prue ushers Brooke into the kitchen while Phoebe tries to clear
things up with Piper. As much as it hurts her to say it, she is still against
the wedding. She just doesn't feel that it's right. Piper understands her
concerns and tells her that unless both she and Prue approve of the marriage,
she won't go through with it.
In the kitchen,
Brooke watches her love fly through the backyard. She wonders why love
can't just solve all her problems. Piper's right there with her. She can
definitely relate. Prue believes that they can conquer what love can't.
And Piper believes that she's right, that they can fix all the problems
of the world, except for their own. But Prue is determined to help both
Brooke and her forlorn younger sister. She of all people knows what its
like to lose someone you love.
As Piper tries
to forget her own problems, Brooke slowly explains the situation. Her boss
fell in love with her, and cursed her and Christopher to keep them apart.
He is an owl during the day while she is a wolf during the night. Until
there is a night within a day, they cannot be together.
Up in the attic,
Phoebe is still looking for something to help break the curse. But instead
the book keeps flipping back to the handfasting page. After a few moments,
Grams suddenly appears. Phoebe's a little surprised, considering that her
grandmother is dead. But Grams has come back to give her the answer she's
really been seeking. She basically tells Phoebe to support Piper's marriage,
and that she and Leo will know when the time is right for the wedding.
Downstairs,
another archer has appeared. He's come after Brooke and Christopher, but
he's open to shooting at the sisters also. After sending a few arrows their
way, he finally takes aim at Brooke. But Christopher, still in his owl
form, flies right in front of her, taking that arrow himself.
Brooke
is horrified as the bird lays dying in her arms. Even though she knows
she shouldn't, Piper calls to Leo. He arrives, but cannot heal the animal.
They will have to wait until he is human once more.
Just then Cole
shows up at their door, ready to trade books. Phoebe introduces him to
Leo, and after they shake hands, Cole secretly wipes the whitelighter "residue"
off of his hands. Then as he retreats down their walkway, he commands his
shadow to report the wedding. The shadow disappears and Cole continues
on his way.
Inside, Piper
is talking to Brooke, wondering if love is really worth all the trouble
and risk. Leo overhears her and leaves. Piper goes chasing after him. Together
they talk over their situation. Leo's as confused as she is, but he's determined
to make it work. But Piper's still worried about the risk to
her
family. And then suddenly Phoebe shows up, ready to give her blessing on
a chalkboard, so as not to inform the eavesdropping whitelighters. This
solidifies the decision. Somehow, someway, Piper and Leo will get married,
or at least they will try.
Brooke is still
in the living room, cradling her love. She apologizes, and then leaves,
knowing that if she gives herself over to her former boss, the curse will
be broken. But outside, the eclipse has started. Phoebe suddenly realizes
that there is now a night within a day. She runs inside and finds a now
human Christopher. Leo quickly heals him, and he takes off with the sisters
to find Brooke.
Prue, Piper,
Phoebe and Christopher slowly make their way through the frozen crowd of
people in the office building. But as they do Piper starts to look ill.
And then suddenly she feels good, great
actually.
Phoebe realizes that the time has come. She and Leo are supposed to get
married. But Piper knows that they can't save Brooke if they leave to get
Leo. So she has to make a choice. And she chooses Brooke.
Needless to
say, the sisters stop Brooke just in time. The lovers' former boss is forced
to watch as Brooke and Christopher kiss, and then he bursts into flames
and disappears. Their work completed, the Halliwells quickly return to
the manor for Piper's wedding.
Prue and Phoebe
are both maids of honor, and Grams is the high priestess who is conducting
the ceremony. A beaming Leo stands in the parlor as Piper makes her way
down the stairs. The wedding may not have been perfect. But she did get
the guy she wanted. And so the couple stands together
ready
to be married. However, it is not to be because as they smile at each other,
Leo is suddenly orbed away in a most vicious manner. Piper stands there
for a moment, obviously stunned. But then she turns to Grams, wondering
what they did wrong. Her grandmother promises her that they will fix everything.
But that isn't enough for Piper who is sobbing by this point. She blames
herself for hurting Leo and she falls to her knees as her sisters hold
on to her. Poor Piper's heart has been broken.
Somewhere far
far away there is a meeting going on. A team of seemingly evil beings has
converged. They surround Cole, and thank him for informing them of Piper's
wedding. Now he has to gain the Halliwell's trust. Cole is ready. He'll
start with Phoebe.
