Going Home (1955-1992) to my farm home
at Cloud Chief, Oklahoma

I always felt I was home when I came to the top the hill one mile north. There I could see the visual signature of the McCornack Homestead... the round tin barn, the red barn on the right, and maybe some cars in the driveway !
This is the how my home looked when I left. This was before rural water and paved roads. Also when clothes hung on our clothes line.
My mom always believed that I should start my visit with a good meal and course my Pa always agreed with her !
During the meal we would talk about the crops and maybe some memories from the early days... like my Grandparents car.... making a visit to Cloud Chief with my Grandma Ida holding my mom (Christola) when she was baby !
In the spring, I always enjoyed a visit to my mom's garden !
In the summer, I would sometimes put on a funny hat and look at the cotton crop up close !
In the fall, I would check out the cotton which would be ready for harvest !
In the winter time, I would join my dad in feeding cattle at the north place !
I never could decide whether I liked my Mom's Coconut or Chocolate pie best so I always had a piece of both !
