Isaiah married Caroline Wallace and they had four children, of which Cynthia was the youngest. One brother, W. F., was still alive in 1905 and resided in Augusta, Kalamazoo Co., MI. After Caroline died, Isaiah married again and had five more children from that union. Isaiah moved to Dowagiac in June, 1849, and was prominent in the public affairs in an early day, serving as postmaster of Dowagiac, also as deputy sheriff and as provost marshal during the period of the Civil War. Isaiah married Caroline Wallace, daughter of James Wallace and Betsy Belknap, on 10 Sep 1848 in Van Buren Co, MI. (Caroline Wallace was born about 1825 in Seusquehanna, PA,1 6 died in 1898 in Cass Co, MI 4 7 and was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, Cass Co, MI 4.)
