Stories Here I will be posting stories about Middle Earth If you have a story and would like to see it on this page, please e-mail it to me at: carasgaladon@hotmail.com A Long Walk to Mushrooms Frodo Baggins was out for a walk one morning. He was a young hobbit, (in his tweens) with a round face, dark hair, and red cheeks. He had been walking for quite a while. Hmm he thought to himself, Im hungry. What can I eat Just then he came he came to Farmer Maggots farm, which just happened to have a fresh crop of mushrooms. Now mushrooms are a great delicacy among hobbits, and Farmer Maggots were considered to be the best west of the Brandywine. Old Maggot wouldnt miss a few mushrooms? Frodo thought. And so he started to pick some. The only problem was that he had forgotten about Grip, Fang, and Wolf. Grip, Fang, and Wolf were renowned (at least in the Shire) as being the best watchdogs in Middle-earth. This was not surprising as dogs were very scarce in Middle-earth, and good watchdogs were even scarcer. Well, to get back to the story: Frodo ate quite a few mushrooms, in fact quite a few more then were good for him. Of course afterward he had the king of all stomachs, not to mention that he felt just plain awful. And that was when Grip, Fang, and Wolf showed up; now I can tell you there was quite a ruckus while the dogs chased poor Frodo around for about ten minutes. Then out form the house came Farmer Maggot. he was a broad thick-set with a round, red face, that was getting redder by the second. What in tarnation are you doing! he thundered. Oh its that young Mr. Frodo of Brandy Hall again is it? Youve been after my mushrooms again havent you? Now you listen to me you young rascal: the next time I catch you after my mushrooms, Ill let the dogs eat you!!. As you can see this wasnt the first time Frodo had been in the mushrooms, and Farmer Maggot hadnt forgotten. Now my young friend, he said with a twinkle in his eye, you go home and go to bed so that the mushrooms dont kill you. and with that he called the dogs and went into the house . Its safe to say (as some of you know) that Frodo didnt go near Farmer Maggots for a good many years after that. |
