CANADAThe British North America Act made Canada a 'federation' in 1867. At this time Canada consisted of only four provinces Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec. After years of debate, often heated, the Fathers of Confederation saw fit to sign the British North America Act. It was Monday, July 1, 1867, the weather was fine across the nation and the dawn was met with salutes of cannon fire from the cannons of every fort and naval ship under its domain. 'The Great Experiment' had begun, an experiment whchich was to lead to the greatest nation in our contemeporary world. It has become a nation repected throughout the world for it cultural mosaic, peace keeping and its role in bringing human rights to the forefront around the world.
