We met in a chatroom on the day of the total solar eclipse
(August 11, 1999) because Thorsten had asked anyone if they had also seen the eclipse.
I had because the line of totality was across the south of England
and I promptly told him "I've seen it!" and the rest was, as they say, history.
We emailed each other every single night for eight months before Michelle came to Germany (Stuttgart) on the 15th May 2000.
She stayed with Thorsten for three months until the 15th August.
This really was the saddest day of our lives as we had to say goodbye to each other at the airport.
We continued to communicate with the Internet, the tool which had of course brought us together
and Michelle visited Thorsten for 10 days in October 2000.
He came to visit Michelle at the New Year where we spent a magical seven days in London
before heading towards Michelle's home town.
Thorsten visited again in February 2001 and Michelle will visit Thorsten for two weeks over Easter.

Yukari (from Japan) and Radu (from Germany, but born in Romania) met 1996 in Canada,
when SHE was studying in Kamloops, B.C., and HE was travelling through whole Canada.
It was both their dream-country, and they were searching for a future life, there! But what they found, was EACH OTHER!
And currently ...after marrying in 2000, we live in Germany, and thinking to live in Japan.

Wir haben uns über's Internet kennen gelernt. Es hat alles ganz harmlos als Email-Freundschaft angefangen.
Aber nach und nach bemerkten wir beide, dass wir wohl sehr gut zusammen passen.
Nach fast 2 Jahren, einigen Probleme sind wir verheiratet und leben in Deutschland.
We both met on the internet. It began as simple email friendship.
But after masses of emails, we realised that we totally match.
After almost 2 years, with problems (of others) and chatting, we married in Indonesia and live now in Germany.

We met online on November 12, 2000 through ICQ and never missed a day of some kind of communication
until our 1st face to face meeting on July 19th in the U.S.A.(8 months later).
Marcus received his K1 Visa in April 2002 and we were married on July 27th the same year.
We went to the local INS office on August 1st to apply for the adjustment of status (I-485)
and were told it would take 18 - 24 months for our Adjustment of status interview.
Here it is April 2003, 8 months later and our interview is April 22, 2003.
We aren't really sure what to expect at the interview but have everything in order they asked us to bring.
We will update as we hear more.
Since we have done this by ourselves without help from lawyers, etc., we have learned a lot.
We are interested in meeting other German/American couples in the Denver area
and are also open to helping others to obtain happiness with INS advice.
What problems did you encounter and what advice do you have?

Eine Liebe, die anfangs so ziemlich hoffnungslos aussah und auf Unverständnis stieß.
Kennengelernt haben wir uns im Urlaub, in Cabarete.
Danach folgten viele Besuche von mir in der Dominikanischen Republik,
William war auch auf Besuch in Deutschland, um sich mein Land
und die Mentalität und das Leben unserer Landsleute einmal anzuschauen - ob er damit zurechtkommt!
Dieses Jahr im Mai haben wir geheiratet. Es war ein Traum von einer Hochzeit und er ist noch längst nicht zu Ende.
Wir sind beide überglücklich, auch freuen sich jetzt Verwandschaft und Bekanntschaft mit uns,
da William längst akzeptiert und gemocht wird.
Die Zeit der langen Trennungen durch die weite Entfernung war sehr aufregend,
auch wenn es weh tat - missen möchte ich sie nicht, aber nochmal durchmachen auch nicht.
Wir sind überglücklich, jetzt zusammenleben zu können und sind ein unzertrennliches Zweiergespann geworden!
Wo ein Wille ist, ist auch ein Weg!!!

Wir haben uns durch Freunde kennengelernt, vor 6 Jahren, und sind seit 3 Jahren verheiratet.
Das Leben als binationales Paar ist für uns nicht so schwer, wir leben in einer großen Stadt, in der es viele solche Paare gibt.
Auch sonst gibt es nur selten Probleme.
Wir verbringen regelmäßig einen Teil des Jahres in Indien, so daß ich dann den Part des Ausländers übernehme.
Wir sind sehr glücklich, es ist sehr bereichernd, mit einem Menschen aus einem anderen Kulturkreis zusammenzuleben.

Ich stehe noch am Anfang einer bi-nationalen Partnerschaft, habe meine Freundin im Juni diesen Jahres erst kennengelernt
und mit ihr ca. 2 Monate zusammengelebt, bis sie wegen Ablauf ihres Tourist-Visa wieder nach Thailand zurück musste.
Jetzt organisiert sie dort ihren Papierkram, und im November fliege ich zu ihr nach Thailand,
und dann will ich versuchen, dass ich sie wieder hierher holen kann. Und dann seht wohl hoffentlich bald die Hochzeit an.

Hallo ihr, ich bin ziemlich verzweifelt. Seit drei!!!! jahren versuchen Alexis und ich für ihn ein visum zu bekommen.
Er hat sehr viele jahre in Deutschland verbracht und ist dann abgeschoben worden.
Eine 1997 geplante heirat, in Deutschland, ist gescheitert, weil das damalige Zaire,
heute Demokratische Republik Kongo, im kriegswirren keine papiere ausstellen konnte.
Mittlerweile habe ich vier einladungen §84 runtergeschickt.
Er hat sich pass etc im Kongo besorgt-legal- trotzdem lehnt Deutsche boschaft visum ab, ohne begründung.
Er hat hier weder sozialhilfe bezogen noch war er sogenannt kriminell.
Habt ihr n tip für mich???

My hubby and I met personally in Istanbul. After our constant("daily" to be honest) chats (thru Instant Messenger),
talks and exchanges of SMS msgs and emails and his constant visits to Istanbul to see me
and suprised me with his uncomparable loving and thoughtfulness.
We found nearly instant magic between us and we both were sure we have found true love,
the person we each other wanted to share the rest of our lives with.
We're both very much in love with each other. In fact, we are planning to have our very own wedding bells next year.
We are looking forward to meet Fil-German Couple or Binational Couple in Germany:-)

In August 2000 we met here in Germany and he just had a work visa from France.
From the first day we knew we belong together and we wanted to get married.
They don't want to give him a new visa before his married papers are proofed here in Germany.
So he had to leave and he went to Italy.In December I got all the papers from Nigeria and gave it to the married office in my town.
They send it to the German Embassy in Lagos to be legalized. In July they told us they dont accept his name.
So we had to do all the process again and send it with the correct name.
In December 2001 they was legalized and after translating all papers, controlled by Over Court in Karlsruhe we could be married here.
But Italy don't want to give him visa to come to Germany because he had no stayment from Italy.
So he went back to Nigeria in February 2002. In May 2oo2 the German Embassy in Lagos give him his visa to come to Germany.
On 19.5.02 he arrived here and on 29.5.2002 finally we got married here in Wertheim.
