He is a linguist in the US Army, she is a homemaker.

We presently live in Guatemala City and have two wonderful children: Byron Andres (8yo) and Luz Adriana (6yo).
We are raising our children bilingual Spanish/English.
Luz Helena is an education consultant (linguist and pedagogue) working for international organizations.
Byron is a mechanical/industrial engineer and a geologist working for a cement company.

Met Jacqueline through a service. Started writing letters and after many months we both fell in love with each other.
After 10 months writing I finally went to meet her in Barranquilla.
Spent a wonderful 13 days together and asked her to marry me. Well... of course she said yes.
Then I had to ask for her hand from her parents. Well, 6 months later March 1997 we were married in Barranquilla, Colombia.
I came back and started the paper work. Before everything was completed and approved
Jacqueline was given a 3 month hardship one-time entry visitors visa as my father was very ill.
Well, we found out 3 days before she had to return to Colombia to wait out the normal visa process that she was expecting.
So, back she went. Jacqueline finally arrived for good in March 1998 5 months before the baby was to arrive.
Now, June 2001 was have Little Scott born Aug.1998 and Michael born Oct. 2000. The process was tough but worth it.
