This is our picture!
Marc and I met through the internet one year ago. I'm from Brazil, he's from Canada. I'm 26, he's 35, and WE have a 2 1/2 year-old boy and a newborn baby girl.
I went to Canada, met all his family, we got engaged and we're married now (July 25th, 1998).
We can tell a lot about immigration to Canada.
My son, Alexis, and I arrived in Canada on January 24th, 1999.
Our immigration went through in a reasonable amount of time and now we're a family.
My husband and I were separated for almost 1 year because of bureaucracy, but all I can say is that it's worth it and now that I'm here it seems that we were never apart.
We're very happy now, helping Alexis to learn English and enjoying each other.
We've had a baby in November 1999!!!!

Greetings, fellow married couples.
We are newlyweds, as of August 7, 1999, and have been together almost two years.
We met in Suwon, South Korea, on a busy street.
We feel that our meeting was destiny.
I (Krista) am 31 years old, and Canadian.
My husband Ik-Sun is 27, and Korean.
We love each other alot.
However, we are finding our personality differences, as well as
our cultural and language differences really difficult to handle.
Sometimes after we fight we feel so alone, and overwhelmed...
like we are the only couple that has these kinds of problems.
Are we crazy or what????? Is there hope for this kind of a situation???

We would like to be married this year but because of his job,
he cannot move here and because of my daughter's heart condition I cannot move there.
I am looking for information on marriages when you are forced to live in seperate countries
and how difficult it is to travel back and forth.
Issues that may arise and whether the government can refuse entry to someone who is married but living seperately.
I cannot seem to find answers anywhere on this subject.

After months of emailing and horribly high phone bills, I flew to Texas for 9 days to meet Brandon.
It was practically love at first site. Once I flew home we knew we had to be back together.

We met online. I went online in search of a pen pal, just someone to e-mail back and forth with.
Pete's personal ad for a pen pal was the first (and only) one that I answered.
We were pen pals for only four days before realizing that we are SOUL MATES.
We fell in love with one another before even knowing each others names.
We met online in March of 2001 and met in person for the first time at the end of April.
We are about to file for our K1 Visa. We are hoping to get married sometime early 2002.
Between the two of us we have 5 beautiful children. I can't wait for the day that they can all meet one another.

We are going through the k1 visa nightmare and we have run ourselves into a small problem.
When we submited our i-129f petition we put down Calgary as the consulate that would issue the visa.
Well after being approved and waiting 2 months for all the paper work we were beggining to get worried about not making our deadline.
We went to the consulate and they told me that they do not issue the k1 visa in Calgary.
I was then told that the paper work would be forwarded to Montreal or Vancouver.
Well, we are still waiting to see. I have no idea what I should do.
I've tried to contact both consulates to see if they can help me and so far I have received no help whatsoever.
If anyone has any tips they can give me or if you know what I should do please email me asap.

Like my friend Carla Miscavitch, I met my husband Richard online, and after much emailing, huge phone bills, and several visits,
I moved to the UK to be with Richard. We married last summer - it's been great!

Scott and I met online February 2001 on a video chat site.
It was a very short couple of weeks before we admitted we had fallen in love with each other.
May 4 of the same year he flew to Canada for us to meet for the first time.
The second we saw each other, we knew that was it...everything fell in place
and any doubts (never believed them but how can you not say "what if?" without meeting) disappeared.
He flew to Canada again in July and every month after.
Sometimes for only 4 day visits, and a couple of times we even got to enjoy 9 incredible days together.
September 2001 I flew to Connecticut to meet his parents.
Scott came to Canada December 26, 2001 for the final time.
I flew back with him December 31 and have been living together ever since.
We got married May 4, 2002 (the anniversary of our first meeting) and we have never felt so much happiness.
We are currently going through the immigration process.

Kalle and I met on the internet.
He is now living here with me in Canada and we were married this past Dec 27, 2003.
His immigraiton papers are in still in process, and we are expecting everything to be complete.
In the meantime he is working with a work permit, and I am studying at University full time and plan to continue my studies in Law.
I am taking Swedish lessons once per week and my progress has been fantastic!

My husband and I met on icq back in Nov.99' then one thing lead to the other and within 3 and half weeks I relocated to QC. Canada from Florida to get married to him.
I of course am an American, and my husband is a North American Indian from the Algonquian Micmac tribe, he lived on the Indian Reservation.
At the time it seemed fine, til reality of living in such a barren, prejudice, land became a living nightmare for me.
I loved my husband enough to stay for 3 and half years til we had our first child.
Then I finally told my husband I was going back to the States with the baby and if he wanted to go great,
however if not then I would wait for him still as his wife etc....
hoping he'd come to his senses, and to my amazement right away my husband said he'd been thinking about moving to the States
and if we were leaving he wasn't about to stay behind, so here we are in my homeland of Virginia......
It has been difficult for my husband with having to go through immigration for his and our child's green card, which we finally got,
but my husband gets irritated 'cause he says, he is a North American Indian and shouldn't have to go through all the B/S.
He says, White man first steals land then they take away treaties that were established in trade of the land,
now he has to get a temp. residence card, then a Greencard.
And it's just been very nerve racking for him.
And if it were not for our congressman, my husband and daughter wouldn't have been able to establish what they have,
the immigration office had no clue what a Micmac Indian was even though we had their Band Member paperwork and North American Indian cards,
and they wanted all this money on top of it.
Now my husband works as a clerk making $8.50 a hour, and he feels pretty disgusted.
He doesn't have a college degree, however he did graduate HS, which is rare for most Natives that live where he was born and raised.
Most Natives there to this day go to 8th grade and usually are very addicted to alcohol, drugs, and having sex at 12 or 13 years old,
and not to mention suicide rate is very high, do to a strong belief in spirituality, thank goodness my husband is one of the few to not believe in suicide.
When I lived there everyone pretended to like me that was til I stopped giving them my American money
then I was excluded, and called dirty names, living as a outcast.
My husband was rarely home he took off early and not returning til 10pm sometimes not til 2am.
Most people on the rez do not work or at least year round so they sit around
playing cribbage, cards, boardgames, gambling, getting drunk, stone and having alot of sex.
It was not a place I wanted to be after I seen what life was going to be like for me.
One cannot imagine unless you have lived it. I told him one day that I didn't leave Fla. to come 2000 miles to live my life alone
I was doing that just fine in Fla. and least there I could go to the beach and the weather was wonderful year round,
and I had a job so I didn't feel like I was co dependent.
And mostly people accept you for who you are in the States not for your money.
He felt like I was taking his freedom away, he had been single for 5 years after his wife passed away, so it was definitely a change for us both.
So now we are here in Virginia just making ends meet, and not getting ahead, and it's been a rough start.
We moved here July 2002, so it's not been long.... I wish my husband could get a better job with the Gov't without the commute into Washington, DC
since from my understanding is a minority and / or start his own business.

John and I were just recently married but we have been together for over 2 years.
We met while his family was trying to immigrate to Canada and became very serious after a few months, spending all the time we could together.
After a year of our dating his family removed me from my home (it wasn't the best place to be)
and I lived with them until that July, when we found out that their application into Canada had been refused.
We were both completely crushed, as he had just proposed in June and we had thought everything would go smoothly for us from then on.
He flew back to England in late July but we continued our relationship, running up £100.00 phone bills every month
and working our butts off to purchase airline tickets, so that we could see each other for just a week or two every three months.
In March, I came to live with him and his family again and we got married on the 14th of April.
I am currently in the country on a visitors visa and I am hoping to immigrate from here.
As we are both very young, we will undoubtedly go through a lot of problems getting me in because John cannot sponsor me until he is 18 years of age.
I do not understand why the laws of the country state that you can get married under 18,
but immigration supposedly doesn't consider your marriage valid.
If anyone has any advice or knows of anyone that can help us, please feel free to email me.
