Like many others on this website, we fell in love before we met!
Meeting each other in Santos, Brazil, on Valentine's Day 1998, only confirmed what we already knew...
we were made for each other!
Paulo and I applied for a K-1 Visa in January of 1999 and he was approved in February!
By the end of March, he was here in the USA! We married on May 15, 1999.
Now, we just celebrated the first birthday of our beautiful son, Paulo, Jr.!!!
Being apart from the one you love is the biggest pain the heart can feel!
We strongly believe you have to let the heart lead you.
If one listens to the rationality of others, one might be missing the chance to be with the love of a lifetime.
If you would like to chat, need some advice or information, or if you have good Brazilian recipes (!), please send us an eMail!
Beijos!

Marc and I met through the internet one year ago. I'm from Brazil, he's from Canada. I'm 26, he's 35, and WE have a 2 1/2 year-old boy and a newborn baby girl.
I went to Canada, met all his family, we got engaged and we're married now (July 25th, 1998).
We can tell a lot about immigration to Canada.
My son, Alexis, and I arrived in Canada on January 24th, 1999.
Our immigration went through in a reasonable amount of time and now we're a family.
My husband and I were separated for almost 1 year because of bureaucracy, but all I can say is that it's worth it and now that I'm here it seems that we were never apart.
We're very happy now, helping Alexis to learn English and enjoying each other.
We've had a baby in November 1999!!!!
If there are any Canadian/Brazilian couples around Ottawa or anywhere in Canada (or Brazil), we'd be happy to correspond.
Leave us a note.
All the best from a happy family :)
Dany & Marc

Virginia and I met when I was in Brazil for 2 months of vacation.
It may not have been love at first sight but it was very close to it!
Before I returned to the States we had decided to get married.
We are engaged now and plan to marry in Brazil since
there seems to be an extremely long wait here in the U.S. for fiance visas.
Any help or advice on how to clear the bureaucratic obstacles would be very much appreciated!!

We met while working together and recently moved to be together.
It is a unique pleasure to love someone from a different culture,
but we have found that it are the amazing amount of 'universal truths'
and things that we all have in common that makes love what it is.
We are very interested in meeting up with other American/Brazilian couples.
Please feel free to email us! Especially if you are in Illinois!

We are going through the process of a K1 Visa. If the petition does not go through, then we will have to be wed in Rio.
Since September the 11th attacks, the K1 Visa's are going to be harder to obtain.
If anyone can offer any information about marriages being legally binding
and recognized in the Unites States, if married abroad, please let me know.
Toni got his visa cancelled, so this might be our only hope,
which would put an extreme hardship on me, because I have a 6 year old daughter from a previous marriage.
And I have bills to pay here in the US. And I can't just up root my child to foreign country,
Toni went back for a visit, and got to Atlanta, and they sent him back on a plan to Rio that same day.
Everything he owns is here in the United States.
It's a very heart breaking story about what happened, and we all know it was a result because of September the 11th.
If anyone can offer any advice or words of encouragement, please e-mail me.
Sincerely, Heartbroken in Arkansas
Milissa

I am currently back in Brazil, working. We have retained a lawyer in order to begin the K-1 Visa process.
Our lawyer has given us a brief overview of the process, including adjusting my status once I arrive in the United States.
I would like to know if anyone who has recently completed the K-1 Visa process would like to share any insight regarding this complex process.
We would like to avoid any unnecessary errors that would delay our process, given the many changes and scrutiny within INS.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

You can't tell from the picture, but I'm half Korean and half Black-American.
I grew up in a completely Korean household and speak Korean.
I think growing up in a patriarchal household helps me to understand the family structure of the typical Brasilian or Latin family structure...
My boyfriend likes that, as do I!!!
He's from Sao Paolo, but born in the northeast of Brasil, Pernambuco...
Over the course of our relationship, his Portuguese has managed to rub off on me, along with a liking for the teeny Brasilian bikini!! (how NOT Korean of me!!)
We're looking forward to starting a family in the near future, but he hopes we don't have any girls.... I'm sure they'll be gorgeous!
