We met in 1999 in a Yahoo chatroom. I had already planned a vacation in Scotland before meeting Peter over the net.
We chatted online and on the phone for 2 months...wow what a phone bill!
Anyway after I arrived in Scotland I decided to skip Scotland and meet Peter in person.
Peter is from the north of Ireland. So we met in person for the first time in Belfast Sep.13 1999.
To make a very long story short we fell madly in love and when it was time for me to fly home if broke both our hearts.
We were so desperate for each other I retuned to N. Ireland in Nov. In Dec. Peter came to America and has been here since 1999.
We were finially married Oct.6 2001!!!
We are currently in the process of immigration and we are overwhelmed!!

I met Issame on the night I was supposed to be traveling on a ferry from Spain to Morocco.
Instead I was in a NYC dance club trying to dance away some demons.
When that was done, I turned to God at about 3 am and said "ok, I am ready to start living".
I turned and saw what I thought was an angel. Turned out to be Issame instead and it has been the best time of my life.
I spent my whole life waiting to live it and now, somedays I wish I was still in the waiting room...
We were engaged on August 27, 2001 in Casablanca, Morocco and will hopefully marry soon.
Relationships (especially inter-cultural ones) are never easy but communication is key.

We are going through the process of a K1 Visa. If the petition does not go through, then we will have to be wed in Rio.
Since September the 11th attacks, the K1 Visa's are going to be harder to obtain.
If anyone can offer any information about marriages being legally binding
and recognized in the Unites States, if married abroad, please let me know.
Toni got his visa cancelled, so this might be our only hope,
which would put an extreme hardship on me, because I have a 6 year old daughter from a previous marriage.
And I have bills to pay here in the US. And I can't just up root my child to foreign country,
Toni went back for a visit, and got to Atlanta, and they sent him back on a plan to Rio that same day.
Everything he owns is here in the United States.
It's a very heart breaking story about what happened, and we all know it was a result because of September the 11th.

My fiancee is in Russia. She has 11 year old daughter, who is staying for 6 months with the father.
My fiancee has a 12 year old nephew. The mother of the boy is terminally ill and has signed custody to my fiancee.
The father of the boy has stated he will also sign custody of the boy to Olga.
Olga has gone to sister's house for over 3 years at night and cooked, cleaned, nurtured nephew and cared for sister.
I have contacted 4 USA lawyers for advice and all give different opinions.
One even gave 2 different opinions in less than 2 minutes.
One gave advice, and next day his employer gave opposite.
I have sent email to US State department on legal status, but have heard nothing.
Can anyone advise me from experience? Thanks.

In August 2000 we met here in Germany and he just had a work visa from France.
From the first day we knew we belong together and we wanted to get married.
They don't want to give him a new visa before his married papers are proofed here in Germany.
So he had to leave and he went to Italy.In December I got all the papers from Nigeria and gave it to the married office in my town.
They send it to the German Embassy in Lagos to be legalized. In July they told us they dont accept his name.
So we had to do all the process again and send it with the correct name.
In December 2001 they was legalized and after translating all papers, controlled by Over Court in Karlsruhe we could be married here.
But Italy don't want to give him visa to come to Germany because he had no stayment from Italy.
So he went back to Nigeria in February 2002. In May 2oo2 the German Embassy in Lagos give him his visa to come to Germany.
On 19.5.02 he arrived here and on 29.5.2002 finally we got married here in Wertheim.

We considered having two weddings or maybe incorporating themes from both of our cultures into one.
Then I remembered how I watched in horror as my two older sisters walked down the isle
in their beautiful enormous white wedding dresses on their wedding days.
What was supposed to be the happiest day of their lives seemed to be a nightmare of insurmountable preparation
trying to please everyone on this perfect day that ended in exhaustion and several minor disappointments.
I could never imagine doing this once, let alone twice to satisfy both of our families and traditions.
We decided that the only fair (and sane) thing to do would be to travel out of town and elope.
We enjoyed a three-minute wedding ceremony with the justice of the peace, wearing our jeans and t-shirts.
None of our friends or family members attended our wedding ceremony,
so there was no discussion or controversy about who or what was given more consideration.
I can happily say that is was the most romantic and carefree day of our lives.
We will, of course, celebrate with everyone in the near future, however we feel that we escaped a lot of unnecessary pressures.

Hi everyone! It is so nice to read all the different stories of how people from such diverse backgrounds have met and fallen in love!
Just to give the younger couples some hope and encouragement for the future,
my husband and I have been together for 26 years (married for 23)
and have been blessed with four wonderful sons (20, 17 and 12 year old twins).
My husband is a Sikh and wore a turban for the first six years we were together.

Me and Rafael have known each other for about 10 years now and have a 6 year old daughter together.
We met when I was very young and most said it would not last. We have had our share of ups and downs.
But on Christmas morning of 2001, he surprised me with a ring I had been eyeing in a mailing from a jewelry store.
He says it's a pre-engagement ring which know means we are hands off to each other.
Our friends have said that we would end up together and grow old and have many more kids. I am starting to think they are right.
He works in law enforcement here in Chicago,
and you can believe I don't sleep well until he walks through that door after his shift is over.

then I went to US to meet him in person... I stayed with him for 3 weeks (the most wonderful time of my life).
