I am African American and my husband is white from France.
We met in 1991 in Miami, Florida. He was on holiday there and I was there attending a teacher's convention.
We've been together ever since although it was long-distance for a while.
I was traveling to France twice a year till he was able to come to the United States in 1995. That's when we were married, on Sept. 11th.
It was very difficult dealing with immigration and didn't really get any assistance till we went to the Embassy in Paris.
We live in Florida and I must say that we do get stares occasionally, but that's it.
After all, it is the 90's and I believe for the most part, people are getting over it already and minding their own business.

Marc and I met through the internet one year ago. I'm from Brazil, he's from Canada. I'm 26, he's 35, and WE have a 2 1/2 year-old boy and a newborn baby girl.
I went to Canada, met all his family, we got engaged and we're married now (July 25th, 1998).
We can tell a lot about immigration to Canada.
My son, Alexis, and I arrived in Canada on January 24th, 1999.
Our immigration went through in a reasonable amount of time and now we're a family.
My husband and I were separated for almost 1 year because of bureaucracy, but all I can say is that it's worth it and now that I'm here it seems that we were never apart.
We're very happy now, helping Alexis to learn English and enjoying each other.
We've had a baby in November 1999!!!!

We met at a little biliardo on Via Merulana near Piazza San Giovanni, called the Merulana Club.
At the time I was working in a little hotel on the other side of Stazione Termini.
It is odd that I would have been in that billiardo, I was there only to meet Stefano, destined. Sounds strange, but true.
He was playing on the next table and struck up a conversation with my friend Joesph, who I worked with.
Stefano gave him his buisness card and later Joesph gave it to me, telling me he was sure that Stefano would have liked ME to have it.
I thought about calling him and finally did, using the excuse I was going to Pisa and would he like to come along?
You know, just travelling. He was sick with the flu and had to turn me down but we finally had the opportunity to talk.
The next day I went to Pisa feeling funny about calling him. I was there 4 days and by the time I returned to Rome I had decided to try to forget him.
I was sure he was only being nice and probably thought of me as a pushy American.I even threw his card away.
Unpacking in my room at the pensione, someone called to me that I had a visitor.
I looked down the corridor and there he was. We've been together ever since.
He came to Seattle that summer to meet my family and 3 years later we were married..
I've travelled all over Europe, I could have lived anywhere, any city, but I had this overwhelming sensation I couldn't understand at the time.
I knew there was something in Rome for me. It turned out to be Stefano, the best thing to ever happen to me!

Since then, he has been here again, I have gone to Wales once and am planning another in less than 2 weeks.
At that time, we will marry in Wales and then I will begin papers to bring him back to the States for good.
