Peter and I having been seeing/dating for almost a year now, met through personals.
I have fallen for him deeply and he feels the same way.
This is a first for me, that is dating internationally, and now I want him here and he wants to be here.
Planning on getting married really soon just as soon as he can get here,
but I do not know the first thing about international law
and the steps I/we need to take in order for the marriage to take place.
We really want to spend the rest of our lives together and that is the plan.
But what must we do. He has applied for a green card but was not selected.
Any other suggestions to get him here as quickly as possible?
I/we would appreciate anyone's help. From what I have read it sounds majorly complicated.
What must we do? Please help.

We were married in White River, South Africa this past November.
Those travelling from the US, as well as Heath's family, enjoyed a weeks photo-safari in Kruger before returning stateside.
The majority of the arrangements were done by email and family in the RSA, and remarkeably all went well.

I am currently back in Brazil, working. We have retained a lawyer in order to begin the K-1 Visa process.
Our lawyer has given us a brief overview of the process, including adjusting my status once I arrive in the United States.
I would like to know if anyone who has recently completed the K-1 Visa process would like to share any insight regarding this complex process.
We would like to avoid any unnecessary errors that would delay our process, given the many changes and scrutiny within INS.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Hi Everyone,
On this occasion I would like to tell you all how we first met and fallen in love till we are united in marriage.
I first met my husband through the internet chatting site on June 09, 2002. On June 09, 2003 we were engaged in Jakarta, Indonesia.
And because I felt that God has meant us to be together for a life time, so on October 25, 2003 we got married in Jakarta, Indonesia.
May God bless you all...
Warmest Regards,
Suzana Van Oort

This is our picture!

John and I were just recently married but we have been together for over 2 years.
We met while his family was trying to immigrate to Canada and became very serious after a few months, spending all the time we could together.
After a year of our dating his family removed me from my home (it wasn't the best place to be)
and I lived with them until that July, when we found out that their application into Canada had been refused.
We were both completely crushed, as he had just proposed in June and we had thought everything would go smoothly for us from then on.
He flew back to England in late July but we continued our relationship, running up £100.00 phone bills every month
and working our butts off to purchase airline tickets, so that we could see each other for just a week or two every three months.
In March, I came to live with him and his family again and we got married on the 14th of April.
I am currently in the country on a visitors visa and I am hoping to immigrate from here.
As we are both very young, we will undoubtedly go through a lot of problems getting me in because John cannot sponsor me until he is 18 years of age.
I do not understand why the laws of the country state that you can get married under 18,
but immigration supposedly doesn't consider your marriage valid.
If anyone has any advice or knows of anyone that can help us, please feel free to email me.

Howdy! We met on the net spring 2002, disappeared on each other but somehow stayed on each other's minds.
Met on the net again spring 2003, became very close good friends fast.
Summer 2003 Gwyneth tried to go for the Tourist Visa just for a vacation but was turned down for illogical reasons.
Later we found out that it wasn't unlike most if not all single
not too bad looking Asian girls that seemed to get turned down also for a tourist visa by the consulates.
We understand the safety procedures and such but it is just ridiculous the way the good majority has to pay for what the bad minority does.
We truly loved each other as best friends and geek buddies at first and have always been very open and honest with each other about everything.
Winter 2003 we realized that we were actually more and more madly in love with each other and got engaged.
We have tons of snail mails, emails and call each other each and every day at least once thanks to cheap telephone cards.
We never met each other in person because of unwanted circumstances but we truly believe it is simply meant to be
and God, fate and destiny has put us together binding us with the strong love that is needed in a long distance relationship for now.
Both sides of our families already know the both of us quite well through emails and telephone calls and are behind us 100%.
Now we are in the process of the K1 Visa (Fiancée) with its timeline we call The Torture Period, hoping it will be over very soon.
We wish we were together already. It is just not humane the way political reasons keep our love apart like this.
We would love to make new friends together, share knowledge and information about the K1 Visa process and other Visa matters in general, so feel free to write us!

Plane hops bride lands for good.
A couple married in Nuneaton at the weekend have proved that not even thousands of miles and the Atlantic Ocean can come between true love a love born in cyberspace.
Jay Filmore, a 45 year old Black American, met her new husband, Gareth Davies, a 49 year Englishman, from Nuneaton, in Odigo.com in November 2001.
And in February 2003 she gave up her career in banking in New Jersey and moved to Nuneaton to be with Gareth, who works for Lynx.
The couple were married at Nuneaton Register Office on Saturday, followed by a Marriage blessing at the Church of Saints Mary and John in Nuneaton.
And Jay, who was born in Washington DC, said the wedding had made all the air miles she'd covered worthwhile.

We have been married for a year and a half now and we have a daughter.
In the beginning my family was reserved due to some ignorance about my husband and his culture, but that has all been worked out since.
His family has been wonderful about accepting me, though I'm not the idea of what they wanted for him.
This was definitely not the easy way to do life, but I wouldn't trade it.
I have had the opportunity to learn more about people that are totally different than me and I think that's wonderful!
We have learned to accept each other's cultural differences and work together on our marriage instead.
I look forward to my trip to India next winter.

We are an American/Japanese couple thinking about getting married in the future.
We met 3 years ago in Japan when I was studying there as an exchange student and fell in love almost immediately.
I really enjoy his family as well and mine already treat him like their son.
But, we have concerns after talking to other friends who have been through this
about what restrictions marriage would put on our abilities to return to our home countries in the future,
the strain of cultural differences on a marriage, job prospects in each others' respective country, children, etc...
These sorts of questions, left unanswered have lead to strain in the marriages of otherwise fantastic couples that we know.
Therefore, we just want to go into the future with our eyes as wide open as possible to what we are about to do...
able to make conscious decisions rather than receive bureaucratic/cultural shock after shock. Help!

We operate a small traditional bakery producing healthy breads and cakes, initially because my husband cannot find his favorite bread here.
Although I used to be working with computers in a bank and he in the oil industry and computer manufacturing (among other things),
we thought working together would be better for us at this age.
Because bad nutrition is mainly the cause of modern diseases, we do not use preservatives and additives in our products,
check the source of the ingredients and where possible make the ingredients ourselves.
We have held baking classes for children in a school nearby and tell them to eat whole grain instead of refined foods.

We first met in 2002. Since that time we are 2gether.
We are going to marry very soon (probably May 2005).
We do live in Switzerland, because we have a lot more opportunities here than in Guinea.
Me, I have never yet been to Guinea up till now, but we are planning to fly over next summer.
We don't have children yet, but we strongly wish to have a baby in some years time.
We do hope that the burocracy will not disturb us from doing our marriage in Switzerland.
We would like to get in touch with other mixed couples. If you are also located in Switzerland, we would appreciate gettin' in touch with you.
May God bless all of you, see ya,
Csilla (18 years) & Mohamed (20 years)

One of the most interesting challenges we face as a married couple is to learn and understand eachothers culture.
Especially the food, music, family values and the language.
We would like to receive correspondence from couples with similar stories.

ASA and Hello all!!! We met through the internet and met in person after 3 months of chatting online and by phone,
got engaged, and by certain circumstances, we moved to Egypt (Mohamed went first, I came almost a month later), and got married!
Now we are living in Egypt. I have never been to Egypt before (or even out of the country) and LOVE it here!!
My husband's family is wonderful and has welcomed me here with open arms. I couldn't ask for a more loving family.
We have been thinking on and off about coming back to the USA, but right now, we are definitely here for at least 2 years.
We hope to meet other people who are in the same situation as us. Thanks!!

We met at a small church near the college that I attend.
He had already been in the USA for a year before we met, and still had a girlfriend back in Indonesia.
After they broke up, however, he asked me to be his girlfriend.
It has been 3 months since that night, and while we are not married yet, it may not be long!!!
We are both excited about the possibility of marriage, but we feel we need a little more time to get to know each other.
I will keep you posted as to how things develop!
Feel free to email me with any tips, as we are both quite young (he's 25, I'm almost 20).

I met my husband online and have lived in the US for nearly five years.
The adjustments to a foreign culture have not been easy, but I have never regretted taking such a 'crazy' step -
leaving my culture and life behind in South Africa to marry this amazing man!
I am working on a website for ladies who met their husbands online and moved to his country.
It's a very interactive website with LOTS of information that will be helpful to anyone considering a similar move.
I would like to encourage ladies who have been through this process to e-mail me.
I'd love to bounce some ideas off you and get your input into my website.
My website will include advice from immigration lawyers and will not be limited to ladies moving to the US only.
I will be covering several other countries too.
There will also be a very interactive forum to discuss things.
Look forward to hearing from you!

E-mail: amymiller1214©yahoo.com
We met on the Kelly Clarkson Message Board just after Kelly had won the first American Idol in September, 2002.
We started talking on YIM and then on the phone and Ray came to Dallas to meet me in December of that same year.
I moved to Canada to live with him in January of 2003 but had to move back to Dallas in June, since neither of us was working.
(I don't know what we were thinking during that 6 months!) I worked 2 jobs for 9 months and saved money crazy.
Ray got a good job and came to visit me in December of 2003.
During that visit, he proposed and we started working on a plan to get me back to Canada.
I moved back to Canada in April of 2004 and we got married in June, 2004.
We are now working on getting my Permanent Resident card and life is great.
We don't know how we would have made it through that 9 months without Yahoo! Instant Messenger and webcams.
I can't work yet and I haven't met many people, but it will all be worth it when I have my Permanent Resident status.
I'm very happy to be in Canada with the man of my dreams!
