This is their story, from Angie's email of 2 February 1997:
" Hello
My name is Angie Clark (United States) and I am engaged to be married to Karl-Henry Martinsson (Sweden) on August 16th, 1997.
I have experienced the bureacracy on International Marriages. I was in Sweden for several months, and we wanted to see if I could do my paperwork from there, so I would not have to go to the expense of returning to the states, etc. Well, we called eery authority and they all told us different things, finally, it ended up that they told me that even if we were married I would still have to return to the states, and the only way I could stay in Sweden was if I was pregnant, which I thought was terrible!
So, on January 5, I returned to the states, and I am here now while my paperwork is processed, I hope to be back in Sweden for good, but the beginning of March. They cannot tell me when I can go back, they simply say that whenever I get my passport back with my residency permit attached to it. Now, another thing is that I have already had my interview, not my fiance is waiting to have his done in Sweden and they say that could take up to 6 more weeks if we do not "push" them for an interview. I think it is a terrible system, and I feel like all of these so called "authorites" simply think of us as files on their desk, rather than people trying to live our lives. I am very fed up with this entire process.
So, it was nice to see your page, and I would love to contribute to it in any way I can. "
