Chang Chen was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1977. His father is Chang Kwok Chu, also an actor. He has an older brother, Chang Hong (If you have any more biographical information on this actor, please contact me). In 1991, Chang Chen made his big-screen debut in Edward Yang's "A Brighter Summer Day". His next major picture was Yang's 1995 film, "Mahjong". He took time out in 1996 to model for Yojji Yamomoto. Starring in Wong Kar-Wai's 1997 film "Happy Together" netted him nomination for Best Supporting Actor at Cannes Film Festival and the Hong Kong Film Awards. Like other Taiwanese citizens, he had to do a stint in the army. Chang Chen was seen most recently in Ang Lee's 2000 masterpiece, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."
Chang Chen is sometimes credited as Cheung Jun (which, I believe is the Cantonese transliteration). If I can, I'll include how to get in touch with this star on this page (usually through their agent). |
