Editorial Review

This is in response to an editorial that I came across today Talk to Your Kids About Drugs. It stated that a mother found some pot resin in her son's pants while doing the laundry. She didn't know what to do, so she called the police and had her own son arrested. The article continues to conclude that police also arrested 7 other youth with drug possession that week, and say that there is not enough being done to educate the youth about the dangers of drugs. Well, by arresting them and giving them criminal records isn't going to help matters. They should be educated on the truths, and responsible usage of marijuana and other hard drugs, and not be criminalized at such a young age. Then they won't be labeled as felons, and will be less likely to commit other crimes. I do agree with one point in the article in that parents should educate their children about marijuana and other drugs. But they shouldn't treat the issue as a taboo, but inform the kid's that there is good in marijuana. I mean hey, maybe sick aunt Dorothy is using it to help her eat.
