The nobility of the Sabbat, these vampires are masters of intrigue, deception and manipulation. They believe they must rule, not from personal ambition but because they are the best suited to lead. Studies of elegance and sophistication among the more common Sabbat, the Lasombra form the backbone and willpower of the sect. Having risen up and defeated their elder during the Anarch Revolt has also gained them an eminence they are not above using to their gain when necessary.
Before the Revolt The Lasombra made their strongholds in the Mediterranean areas and the Keepers (as in Brothers) still hold much of Spain, Portugal, points of Italy and the entirety of Mexico for the glory of the Sabbat. The Lasombra of today weave shadowy webs that guide the destiny of the sect and orchestrate the rise and fall of Kindred and kine alike. The elegant, predatory clan is absolutely ruthless in pursuit of any goal and few other clans find it worthwhile to oppose the Lasombra. The Tzimisce will contend against them on occasion and The Black Hand will spy for their masters but their numbers are the greatest and their power is almost total. With their innate leadership abilities they would appear almost unstoppable. It is whispered however, that they still must answer to their own kind.
Power never-ending...perhaps the only goal readily visible in the actions of the Lasombra. These vampires strive towards the realization of their ideals, as well as the end of the Ventrue clan, their despised enemies. Most of the members of this clan fell to the temptation of the Sabbat during its formative evenings, when the eternal lines between sect ideologies were being drawn.
Embraced primarily from the nobility of Europe, the master manipulators of the Lasombra continue the ways of their former lives, conniving and acting to bring further glory only to themselves and their clan. Their mastery of shadow and darkness seems only fitting to the Lasombra, as the tendency to conceal their motives and aims is at the forefront of their unlives. The Camarilla, and more particularly, the Ventrue, have long known that this clan will be the single most dangerous threat in the ranks of the Sabbat. Without the guiding hand of this line of vampires, the Sabbat might never be more than a collection of rogues and anarchs.
