BURT GUMMER:

ACTION FIGURE (DELUXE)

by C.Martin

Burt Gummer, relaxing in his rec room.

Burt, Mark 1

Not satisfied with the first Burt Gummer action figure I made, I set out to do Burt true justice...

When the Graboid monitor goes off, Burt springs to action!

Burt is built using a 21st Century Toys Super-articulated figure with a Soldiers of the World (Formative Int'l) head that has been slightly modified...

Using a flash with the camera reveals that Burt's sideburns and moustache are actually drawn on using a permanent marker. Painting them black or even building up with some type of putty might be required...

The main advantage of the 21st Century Toys figures is their interchangeable hands. No more just holding a cup/kung-fu grip. Burt now can salute, point, do the V for Victory sign, make a fist, or actually put one finger on the trigger.

Burt is wearing a 21st Century Toys red turtle neck, under his Adventure Gear Flannel shirt. Over that is a Dragon-Models Assault Vest. The vest has real working pockets and pouches which do contain quite a few neccesities (radio, spare maagzine for rifle, cyalumes, emergency water, flare gun and more)

Burt's Hawks hat is custom made- a 21st Century Toys ball cap repainted with a printed label applied for the logo.

Burt also wears some half-gloves (by 21st Century Toys) and carries a Desert Eagle in his low-ride 21st Century Holster. Burt's pants are fatigues from the 21st Century Toys Ranger uniform set (Grenada campaign).

(Yes, that's Burt's radio control 4X4 in the background for hunting graboids)

Burt is wearing very detailed black jungle boots by Dragon-Models. The laces really work. (Note; 21st Century Super-Articulated figures' feet have heels that are a tad to large for these boots. Some sanding and shaping was required)

What do you do with Burt once you've made him? Such a detailed figure really needs a diorama.

Can any man have too many toys?

I had started to recreate Burt's basement from Tremors 3, but with the TV Series and 4th movie coming out, the project stalled. I'd rather make the new basement...

There is a variety of equipment in the picture from the movies. Burt is examining his newest toy, a semi-automatic, magazine-fed Barret .50 Sniper rifle.

No more of that one-shot silliness. The Barrett has a magazine full of Graboid-busting rounds.

From a different angle, you can see the wall of weapons behind Burt better. Can you name them all?

An advantage to using action figures is that Burt now has the whole world of GI JOE armaments to choose from...

Yeah! A G.E. Minigun (as seen in Terminator 2), made by Intoyz.

A WWII Anti-aircraft FLAK gun! If Burt had one of these on the roof of his house the Ass-Blasters would have been easier to deal with...

Here's a BIG gun! A howitzer! Put this up on a ridge in Perfection and Burt could shell any Shrieker herd from relative safety, miles away.

And, since there are plenty of Monsters in the 1:6 world, Burt shouldn't run out of prey anytime soon

Crap! It's Bigfoot!

(Okay, really it's a Star Wars Chewbacca, standing on a small box. Pretty scary though)

And if Burt thought the Graboids were bad...
