First of all, I want to let everyone know that THIS IS NOT AN EXPLOITATION SITE.  R. Budd Dwyer's suicide is a part of American history, that everyone should know about.  Why?  Not just because of what he did in the end, but because of the events that occurred, leading up to his eventual suicide.  After all, this is a TRIBUTE to R. Budd Dwyer, no matter how morbid it may seem.

Many people who have learned of this incident, have taken it the wrong way.  R. Budd Dwyer was not some lunatic who blew his brains out on live T.V. (As many have stated).  Mr. Dwyer was a successful politician, a former school teacher, an intelligent man, and a loving husband and a father, who became the victim of political persecution.  It's truly sad to think that one man's life, along with many other lives can be ruined in an instant, as in this case.  But this just goes to show you just how dangerous and twisted politics can really be.

Listening to his final speech, you can clearly tell that this was not a man who wanted to die.  This was a man who's pain and despair had driven him over the edge. A man who stood to lose everything he worked his entire life for.  All because he earned the wrath of the wrong people.

Confused,  feeling hopeless and no where to go, Pennsylvania State Treasurer R. Budd Dwyer sadly took his life, on the cold snowy morning of January  22, 1987 in the middle of a televised news conference (At the state capitol in Harrisburg, PA), crowded with members of the press. This event  has become infamous in recent years, due to exploitation videos and even more so with the explosion of the internet.   It has also been the lyrical inspiration of a few songs.  Most notably in rock band Filter's 1996 hit "Hey Man, Nice Shot"

My reason for having the actual uncensored video of his suicide on this site, is NOT to exploit him in anyway.  There are many websites on the internet that have turned this tragic event into a sick joke.   This is NOT one of those sites.  Again, I feel this incident is an important part of American history (As is JFK's assassination, though much more graphic).  It questions whether or not our justice system can be used as a form of persecution.

We may never know exactly why Budd Dwyer chose to take his life in such a public manner.    We do however know that because he died while still in office, his family was still able to receive 1.3 million in pension and insurance benefits that they would not have received had he been removed from office.

Sometimes it takes a tragedy to make us realize some things we often ignore.  Suicide is a very very sad (and very final) choice to make.   Although I deeply sympathize and can only image the horrible desperation Budd must have felt in the final moments of his life, I can not say he did the right thing..  In the end, it only overshadowed the injustice perpetrated on him, as well as intensify the agony felt by those who truly loved truly him.
