HOW TO USE

First, using Hot water from any hot water tap, "drill through the 'ice pack'" which has accumulated in the gutter or roof "hip trough". (Note: A 30-day old width of about 12-14 inches -- above the icicles -- is seen just to the right of where the hose is hanging. This is where that ice dam was "broke" on December 27, 2000.)

Adjust water flow at the hose nozzle to a
very slow, fine "needle point spray" and "melt" about a one foot width of all the ice in the gutter all the way back to the roof. You'll find that a "very fine point" with HOT water will melt the ice like a dentist's drill going through a tooth.

Next, after ALL the ice from the gutter to the roofline is melted, adjust the nozzle to a slow, wide-angle, very fine spray mist.   Then "Hang" the hose on top of the protruding "ice dam" and go in the house and have a cup of coffee.   Allow the "hot spray" to "spray onto" the top of the icepack.   Check every 15 - 20 minutes or so to adjust the direction of the spray, as required. [Let the hot water do the work. It works "great!"]

Note: the 12 foot extension pole is fully extended, but provides a sufficient length for a two story home.
