"We can fight Temra, Father, and we can beat them.
You will rule this generation and I shall rule the next.
Kells must never surrender!"

Deirdre is the intensely independent princess of Kells. Her indignant air makes her appear haughty and stubborn, yet she is also capable of great selflessness and tenderness. Her attributes range across the spectrum, creating a very unique young lady that is as far away from a damsel in distress as a princess can be. She is an expert harpist, as well as an expert swordsman. Also, Deirdre has an intense desire to learn, and expand her horizons by becoming the most able ruler she can possibly be. Deirdre refuses to let any barrier stand between her and victory, and this determination is what led her to joining the pilgrimage to Tir Na Nog with Angus, Rohan, and Ivar.

By calling "Air Above Me!" while holding up her powerful Whirlwind Crossbow, Deirdre is transformed into the Mystic Knight of Air. In order to win this famed weapon and mighty armor, Deirdre had to pass the test of Fin Varra. Deirdre needed to learn unselfishness, especially since she had always looked upon Angus and Rohan with disdain. She was willing to sacrifice her life, so long as the other Knights could continue in their quest, and this act earned her the Whirlwind Crossbow. Now, Deirdre is a worthy team player, prepared to give as well as receive aid from her fellow Mystic Knights. Deirdre also makes good use of her natural agility and swordsmanship, which coupled with her Crossbow, fiery spirit, and powerful armor, makes a deadly combination.

Although Deirdre tends to construct a shield of antipathy around most people, with her father she is very open and affectionate. Deirdre respects and cherishes her father, and her utmost desire is to be as able a ruler as he proved to be. It's true that Deirdre does go against her father's will on occasion, she feels it is justified so long as her efforts will help Kells in the war. She harbors a need to constantly prove herself both to her father and to the rest of the kingdom, most likely stemming from the fact that she is a princess rather than a prince. Her need to somehow dampen her feminine qualities to display an air of strength is apparent, yet her usually biting demeanor often gives way to her inherent gentleness. With the dependable support of her father, perhaps one day she will learn that she doesn't need to prove herself. In his eyes, she is already a capable leader, slowly gaining the experience and wisdom needed to rule a nation.

Deirdre's leadership abilities shine through every time she goes into battle. When she isn't fighting alongside her fellow Mystic Knights, she can often be found at the forefront of a Kells/Temra confrontation, eagerly organizing troops and charging ahead with her Crossbow in hand. Much like her father, Deirdre has the heart of a warrior, which shines through when something or someone she loves is threatened. These qualities are what will forge her into an excellent ruler in the future.
